I think this ratchet competes favorably with the Apex 120 position and Husky 144 position double pawls, and the triple pawl SK 216 position ratchets. The first two are high volume sellers, and Stanley likes to compete in all market segments, and not leave those sales to other companies. Probably not a segment that your viewers are active in. Steelman made a 160 tooth cobra ratchet a couple decades ago. Maybe it wasn’t quite that long ago. They are kind of collector items now. I personally enjoy all kinds of ratchets, and am happy you did a teardown on this 15:52! Thanks as always. I’m always referencing your encyclopedic play lists!

I didn’t know about that Steelman. Gotta keep my eye open for that one👍

You the man...I just picked up a 1/2 drive of one of these 180 tooth ratchets for $10.00....I also would not pay full price for these as the 1/2 incher I bought lists for $45.00 at Lowes.... It's so shiny and pretty I don't want to get it dirty from use,so I'll probably just spin the guts and listen to the clicks. 😭😭😭

Great review, ty. I like those showy Craftsmans. Your tear-downs are particularly helpful. Never seen one with so many teeth (and they are so tiny!).

I put some new grease as soon as I got it I used a Makita drive shaft grease used for their couple shaft to testaments and SDS hammers and it's night and day in terms of how it works I would highly recommend doing that if you bought this ratchet and don't like it I absolutely love it and it helped tremendously with the backyard after re greasing

So Why dose it matter if it brakes if you can just get a warranty on it? Just wondering

It seems like things sometimes break at the worst possible moments when you need then

I don't have time to give a real comment But it's a well designed ratchet at $ 35' 00 .. Again great review and a great video .. Take care and enjoy your week

It's a weak, silly design. Sacrifices strength for gimmicky and unnecessary tooth count increase.

Gimmicky design is right. Sacrifices so much strength to double the effective tooth count. I'm sure back drag is horrible too. Nothing but marketing nonsense, there's nothing innovative here except the idea to dramatically weaken the tool to make it click twice as much. The fact it's made offshore doesn't help either. I'd never own this garbage.

If nothing else I like the Gunmetal Chrome.

Seems like with that many teeth would mean the teeth are small and would break easy

It seems like SBD. doesn't know what to do with craftsman. They market this ratchet with an extreme tooth count, which amounts to mainly a marketing gimmick. This is Overdrive, their "innovative" line. Their regular line is cheap, low quality china made. Craftsman premium line V-force, the quality is better but the ratchets are Not serviceable, the wrench sets skip a lot of the desired sizes & they are not competitive (in price) to many other Taiwan tools. Warranty is also a Huge hassle... I've given up on buying anymore craftsman tools. I am thoroughly disappointed‼

Most people I’ve heard from (and myself) seem to have had no trouble at all with the warranty, whether it was carried out in-store or online.
