Engine hesitates when accelerating- ignition problem ?_So Oldt
A four cylinder renault R4 oldtimer hestitates when accelerating.
There is a crack in the vacuum unit of the distributor, so i will change the distributor.
You can also change the vacuum unit separately, when available.
but then also change breaker points and condensator.
After this repair the problem was fixed.
Thank you for watching and have a nice day. So Oldt

I have found 5mm (hole) plug welding to be reliable. If the arc, and wire, do not strike the base metal immediately, the hole can be filled and the appearance is successful fusion but it easily fails under test. I use 6 or 6.8mm hole which gives more positive results. Wth respect. GB

Have same carb on my Bedford CF. Was never happy with its operation to get a tick over the butterfly had to be open so much the main jet was starting to supply fuel and volume adjustment screw had little effect hence it always ran rich and had poor economy and sooty plugs on tick over. Cleaned it put gaskets and seals in etc etc. but with no real improvement. Found your video followed the procedure to flatten the surfaces and voila carb works perfect, the mixture can be set easily with very low tick over possible and the main jet only operates as the revs pick up just as it should, perfect! thank you very much.

Hello bashfullbuzzard . Thank you for wathing my video . To make the drilling jig. I drilled 5 x 3mm holes in a block. In the first hole i stuck a 3 mm drill bit. To make the jig. just measure the taps that you use. expl : 6 mm taps - 1 mm overlap. the center holes of the 3mm pre bore holes, must be 5 mm apart. I hope this is help full. To repair the crack in the drain tap hole, i used a metal ring with some sealant and tighten it with the drain tap. It is perfectly closed. See my video " first start landrover series after metalstiching repair" . In this video you see how i did the repair. Have a nice day , and please subscribe to my channel .So Oldt,
