Howdy from Marana AZ Beautiful pictures, would make great postcards. Thanks for sharing. Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵 Happy New Year 🥳
Hope you had a great Christmas! Happy New Year!!
what a great montage love all your content
That's what we love you hear! Glad you enjoyed, thanks for stopping by 🤠
Our experience if you put the bales on their edge it will lake a little easier. Excellent work.
Ears made her presence, a few times. Thanks for sharing!
She sure likes to let you know she's around!
One of my favorite episodes of the cartoon, King of the Hill where the family visits the family farm. Peggy, the mom, said that she was made to castrate her horse. Im actually watching that episode right now. Thank you for sharing.
Poor baby 🎉❤
Howdy from Marana AZ I see Brandon is still sporting the minimal look.🤣😂 Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵
No reason to change his tried and true fashion sense 🤣
Brrr! Ranching certainly is a year round endeavor. Cover your ears young man! Lol
You are one lucky man getting to ride that mare with the perfect running walk.
Calen sure is!
Looks like a good way to wean the bumble bees(as Tex called them).
Easy and low-stress as possible is our aim!
Looks like it's really cold.....by California standards 😊 Interesting weaning method. How long normally do the moms hang around waiting for babies to find them? Thanks for sharing part of your chores. Always enjoy your videos. Keep Smiling and Stay Grateful
The mares vary by personality. Some that are ready for weaning will stay for half a day at most, then join the rest of the herd. Others that are a little more maternal will stay close for about a day or two, then join the herd after. Having the stallion babysit tends to help keep all the weanlings more calm too since he is around them all summer long. We appreciate you stopping by!
I showed Bonnie Sue this Video. I told her we'll drive to Ryegate to get the best beef. Any suggestions on how to keep the meat frozen on the way back to Missouri? I like ribeyes!!! Are you going to tell me to get a beef in Missouri because of the 2 day trip back to Missouri? With love and fond memories, Robin and Bonnie.
Brandon says Dry Ice!!
Thank you for this breakdown. That's a heck of a lot of meat. Home grown, can't get better than that.
@ettajfan5882 we appreciate it! Some viewers have asked for a visual of the results so we wanted to do our best to provide that 🥩
Howdy from Marana AZ 2 steaks per package, guess that means Calen sets and watches Brandon and Lisa eat.🤣😂 Do you use zig-zag papers when you smoke the roast. 🤣😂 Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵
🤣🤣🤣 he can use a day or two of hunger lol
Left put it on the right
Howdy from Marana AZ Great video. Thanks for letting us join you. Brandon reminds me of the ranch manager in Oklahoma, middle of winter and he would be out working with a long sleeve shirt and vest and I would be bundled up freezing. Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵
Definitely! He is always sporting his minimalist ways haha
What was the end result? Were most of your cows pregnant?
We had only 4 dry. 1 dry was ears but she will stay here on the ranch
@@HashknifeRanch the matriarch of the herd. She deserves to stay to the end.
Your herd looks good. We are putting cows today. We have fall calves, so preg testing is still a couple months out. Ears and 109 are looking a little rough. 109 looked like she was pinched in the rear.
Both were struggling a bit. 109 was given antibiotics and has been improving
Thanks for taking the time to share your chores and lives here. It brings back lots of fun memories. Keep Smiling and Stay Grateful
We're happy to share! 🤠
I dont like it either i feel for the cow they should numb the area before they do that maybe should just hace the tag on there ear
I'm a woman, but I'm still crossing my legs.
Great video breakdown. I have a question pertaining to the usda inspection at the butcher. Is the meat considered usda inspected after the animal is dispatched and cleaned? Or after the meat has been processed down the individual cuts?
Good question, the best answers would come from the bearded butcher channel. They are full of great info! However, our limited research says USDA inspections are for slaughter beef health prior to dispatch and subsequent butchering.
@ I appreciate the response, from what little I’ve seen of the bearded butcher they seem very knowledgeable.
Is there a particular method you use to select which are castrated?
Great question! We always geld our horses unless we want to keep one for breeding stock. An example of that is shown here on a video we shared a few years ago: th-cam.com/video/KomX-fV3kZA/w-d-xo.html
Love the content. Can you do a video on your cattle permits and the process for them?
We can definitely make a short video of that! It is a Montana state sponsored process online and may be different or not available whatsoever in other states.
You are an excellent horseman. Thank you for making this video.
Howdy from Marana AZ Interesting to watch, thanks for sharing. Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵
Very interesting seeing this done with the horse being held on his back. I have never even heard of it being performed in this manner. I guess even us real old guys can learn new methods. Thanks for the lesson. Good to see those young boys recover and start their new journey. I appreciate you taking the time to create these videos and share your experiences with me. It takes me back to my glory days as they say. I look forward to your next one. Keep Smiling and Stay Grateful
It was new for us and seemed to work great. Glad you enjoy! That's why we do this, for people just like you 🤠
I can't imagine doing this procedure with the animal standing.
Do you castrate according to the luner signs on the farmers almanac? We castrate all of ours in the last day of knees or first day of the feet. They never bleed and make better geldings.
No, we don't thanks for the question though
Good looking cattle!
Thank you!
Very interesting. Apologies for a dumb question, but who are the folks bidding on your animals?
Those are typically representatives for feedlots. They purchase the animals, ship them to centralized facilities, then grow with supplemental feed until butcher time. After which they arrive in stores for people to purchase for meals! 🥩
Howdy from Marana AZ Congratulations on a great sale. Great video, thanks for sharing. Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵
Thank you! Always glad to see you in the comments 🤠
Good looking stock. Congrats on doing well after a year of hard work. Keep Smiling and Stay Grateful
Much appreciated!
You did well guys. It’s nice to see a good year after a number of bad years. Congratulations.
Much appreciated! It's all attributed to those awesome mama cows we have...they gave everything to those calves this year and it paid off
Do you keep replacement heifers . The cattle look really well.
Thank you! Yes, we do retain replacement heifers when appropriate. This year we did not due to land and herd conditions. We have 10 head that were retained last year (Deuce is one of them) as replacements and they will be bred this upcoming summer in 2025. As it stands, we are looking at keeping replacements every other year unless situations change.
bull: "let's do it one more time, baby!" cow: "earl, lose some weight first! my hips are killing me!"

DO YOU ALL USE DRONES? WOULD SAVE A LOT OF TIME.
Yes we have a drone...there is a big BUT though. The winds that day would have made it impossible to fly. The distance is difficult for connections at time due to topography. And sometimes while the drone is helpful, it is still very difficult to see accurately. So we just use the old school, tried and true method 🤷♂️
Howdy from Marana AZ Beautiful scenery, thanks for the ride along. Good job, no traffic jams 🤣😂 Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵
Haha just the one car, other than that the coast was clear! Glad you could ride along 🤠
Watching this after a very stressful few days of work. Just what I needed. Thank you!
nice video, what's the name of the breed again ?
We raise Red Angus cattle
Fascinating. Lisa has a gift for narration.
May i ask out of interest if there's any differences between red and black angus in any ways. Not just meat but the reasons that you prefer to keep them 😊
This video might help explain that answer best: th-cam.com/video/tAI9x5sMrjc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pllxwnUgtytNUyCc
Love watching y’all videos, keep it up and red angus is the way to go
Glad you enjoy!
Howdy from Marana AZ Interesting, thanks. Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵
Love your channel
@Bgreen-nn2ly very glad you enjoy, thanks for stopping by!
Lonesome Dove is literally THE best book I've ever read. I haven't watched the series because I'm afraid I'd be so disappointed in the casting vs how I see the characters in my head.
Books are always the best!
What brand of hats does Brandon wear?
He usually wears custom hats from a local company called Law Dog hat company
Such a great family! Thanks for sharing your unique Easter beer hunting with us!
I didn't know cattle get into fights. What causes these fights? Thank you for showing all aspects of ranching and the cycle of life and death.
It is typically personality induced. The Bulls fight mostly due to hormones and competition over cows
