How to Apply Anti Skid to the Cabin Tops and More!
This week I'm applying Kiwi Grip Anti Skid on the cabin tops. Before that I had to recoat some areas of the cabin with Hempel's top coat, snad and paint the dorade domes and mask everything!
A lot of timeconsuming tasks but in the end it was worth it!

Transforming the Cruiser's Cabin: 2 Pot Primer and Top Coat
มุมมอง 1Kปีที่แล้ว
Since there were no good tides this week I decided to sand the cabin top and apply some antiskid...or at least that was the plan! Ended up removing all hardware from the cabin top including grab rails, dorade's domes, dodger's hardware and what not, just so that I could sand the whole cabin down and paint it using two pot primer and paint...I can never do just one thing at a time! I guess the a...
Fabrication Installation and Testing of my K30's Reefing System

I had to install a reefing system so I could go upriver so I rolled up my sleeves and looked for some hardware and actually fabricated some kind of ram's horn too and then installed the whole reefing system. After I installed the first reef line/hardware I asked Pedro to jump aboard and we tested it in strong wind and it was clear that I should have installed the second reef too! The boat point...
We Got Our Cruiser Ready for Summer Holidays!
มุมมอง 2.6Kปีที่แล้ว
After almost one year since I bought the Kingfisher 30 we finally managed to het her ready for summer holidays! Started by spending the night by Rat Island so the kids could try fishing. We actually run aground unintentionally, spent a few ...
Getting Ready for Summer Holidays, Kingfisher 30 Refit Update

With Holidays just around the corner and my Kingfisher 30 still grounded I decided enough is enough. I don't want her to spend another summer without sailing so I get to work starting with a bunch of small tasks, but essential, to allow us to sail her upriver. That's me, the wife and two teenagers. She wont be ready for any ocean crossing but she will take us to our destination some 50NM uprive...
Dyneema Lazy Jacks, DIY!
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
Finally got the Dyneema, (or is it Spectra?) to make my new Lazy Jacks. After measuring the temporary strings I had used to hold the sail pack I could then cut the Dyneema and splice some low friction rings as well as some loops. Also used some Ronstan sheavless shocks. All in all the setup should be maintenance free and all the components are VERY smooth which shold help preventing wear on the...

Making my Lazy Jacks and Lazy Bag and Going up the mast!

This week I had to go up the mast to fit my lazy jacks. I have no harness so had to go back to a technique I used for years since when I was a kid rappelling down some cliffs. Fixing the cabin top - Kingfisher 30 Refit

After removing the solar fan a while back it finally came the time to close the hole on the cabin top! Easier said than done! Hi Teo, as newcomers to the Kingfisher community, we are loving your channel, and thank you for all your good work... Ours is a 30s called Penultimate, based in Suffolk in the UK, and we've got all of it to do before she goes back in the water, hopefully next spring. However we have a specific issue to address; swhich I guess you haven't encountered as I see no mention of it; we have some collapse in the structure supporting the mast step. This stems from the rotting of the steel bilateral supports just forward of the bulkhead located in the head & storage locker; we and are trying to figure the best way to approach the repair, so if I can throw out the question to yourself and anyone else in your community of followers, we would appreciate any insights that anyone might have. Thanks again for producing your excellent series covering your own refit, it's really really helpful. Obrigado. Bill

Return Line: The returning diesel from the injectors will be hot. A Day Tank should be installed with this heat in mind. Insulated, or air cooled, certainly not on top of a hot engine, imho. It should also have a boost pump & huge filter so the yacht can make it into harbor even with extensive algae in the main tank(s) Delivery Captains often carry a 5 gallon day tank, since many delivery boats have sat too long to have good diesel guaranteed. (Assuming a sailboat can sail within range of a harbor) I have a 20 gallon badder tank i use for long runs and can act as a Day Tank, with the return line going to the main tank; which is less range and risks overflowing. Fuel Polishing is never 100%, due to tank baffles. If you tank is 2 times longer than its width, and the height is User Selected, then a 4 gallon day tank example formula is calculated to the Width; W=(2*H)*(W^2), round up.

I love this series and the work you've done. Have you had any issues with corrosion between the dissimilar metals on the boom & stanchions? I know that bronze and/or aluminum have some issues with corrosion when kept in direct contact. However, I'm not an expert and please look at this as a basic question and not a criticism. I'm a sucker for any bilge keel boats and yours is shaping up very well.

this america, THE WAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN HERE, AND THE ONLY REASON PEOPLE DON'T ALREADY KNOW THAT, IS BECAUSE WE ARE LOSING THE WAR. sub-saharan warfare is transparent. and sub-sahara, it is, and has been, in perpetuity...it's their evolution, living or dying with their breeding faster than the food grows, it's them, it is what they are. in urban areas, where it is less than transparent, there are still active transparent elements. ancient secular texts simply referred to them as death....and we are seeing it again.
