I am Tony Evdoka. I have been racing Radio Control Cars for 40 years
Started with a Tamiya truck, bashing in Dec 1979
Since, represented Team Associated, Yokomo, Losi, Schumacher, Kyosho and currently with Serpent for the past 6 years
Founder of Surrey and Hants Racing club 25 years ago and also the National hosting club, Hampshire Racing Centre, AKA Planet Hampshire
I am a Multi-National A finalist and even today capable of top 20 positions at National events.
Qualified 2nd and finished 2nd at my home club National.
I’m a multiple and current British Veteran Champion, 2wd and 4wd Off-Road and proud to be the oldest driver in UK RC History (by some margin) to hold a F1 licence, a status that rates one alongside some of the best in the UK.
I’m fortunate enough to coach, mechanic and advise many that are now RC stars.
Best result, made some good friends along the way and still enjoying RC Racing
Hopefully I can pass some of my knowledge over to you

Nice combo. But one thing is weird. The solder caps on ESC are so small. It was really hard to solder there 10AWG wire. They are suited for the 12AWG, which is shame, because of 220A 2-6S ESC. Its only disadvantage. Im looking forward to test it in Serpent 988 :-) I have 2650kv variant of the motor.
hi! Thanks for the video :-) just dont know what i did wrong, because both my rear driveshaft boots was teared apart when i tried putting them on the driveshaft like you did. Maybe this is why so many bother using them... 😕
Hey I just got this iron and plugged into a 4s lipo and it blinks green and orange and doesn't get hot. have u had this issue at all? didnt come with a manual. can't find one online. arrowmax website has zero info. thanks
Hi - I have heard of this before - usually its because the tip has not be pushed in hard enough to make contact - failing that, I suggest you return to your retailer. It will be the first one I have heard fail though - Good luck
@@TonyEvdoka Thank you! I will try pushing it in even more. Appreciate it
Need you to compare the superior Protek Super Light tools. I think they're miles better.
I have not had the experience with them as distribution in the UK is poor to say the least - I am sure they are nice too but without back up I would have hesitations
Do you use washer on the front as well??
What's the name of the tool you used to hold the diff to check for tightness?
Nice one ! very handy info !
Hey Tony thanks for the informative video. The 1/8 diff balls are from rude bits and they look good. However, you didn't mention about the thrust bearing ball and washers. Are they the optional carbide thrust bearing balls or the kit ones? I didn't see the thrust bearing balls on rude bits. Thanks ;)
Hi. The kit thrust is of high quality and doesnt need replacement. I highly recommend it
Probably need more grip for rear wheels. Slides too much but still much planted :)
Its low grip Astro 👍🏻
@@TonyEvdoka Oooooooo that's as planted as it could be then :))
@@thenameisrwac5239 well more grip could be introduced at a loss of some steering but it wouldnt be as quick at this track. Hope that helps
@@TonyEvdoka driving aggressive stagger ribs fronts on the rear motor on road and car steers (sort of?). Turning it 90 degrees? No problem. Turning slightly going straight? Swerves. How should I combat this lack of steering? Thanks Tony. Whens the next vid?
@@thenameisrwac5239 I would guess it's the wrong front tyre ... lol ... new videos coming soon ... I have been spending some time coaching so please excuse me
Hey tony! Do you think you can do a build series on this car?
Hi Gav. The rear end can be found on the 2wd Gen3 build and yes i will do a build with the front too
@@TonyEvdoka sweet!
Hey tony how are you? Driving a Rear Motor serpent and driving it a lot on rough and loose surfaces (dirt and road). Had it stock for a while but now looking for upgrades. Any suggestions?
I haven't driven a rear motor for a long time but adding weight will help and make sure you have enough ride height for ground clearance
Hey Tony what do u think about a front ball diff and rear gear diff for better steering thru corners? Not sure about this setup but theoretically sounds plausible. What are your thoughts of this. Would it perform or simply fail?
Hi. I think if the need is there for a ball diff, then front and rear would be my choice. The car has plenty of steering so that wouldn't be a concern of mine. Let us know if you do try though
Hey Tony! That's a very neat set up for that car. How often would you take it to races? Looks like it would destroy the competition easily ;)
At the moment the car is being used everywhere to get the feel and the neutral set up. From there on, its always with me ready to be raced 😉
Can't wait for the races! Side note, why do you think that serpent is not well known on youtube? There are very little videos on serpent products and it makes me a little sad. Driving a serpent rm myself and I'm easily destroying touring cars. What are your thoughts on the situation? Why isn't the serpent not well known? Prob not well known but not widely discussed
Sheeesh that design looks absolutely ancient like a losi xxx4 from 2003 this is why serpent is over looked this thing looks like the only thing to make it thru the time machine from 1990.
I am not sure if that's a good comment or a bad one but Serpent is overlooked and this car is just great :)
Awesome buggy, any set up suggestions? Hard pack outdoor blue groove. Really like the LSD setup. Someone was on the game with that design
There is a set up now available for specifically that type of track as used by the designer. It can be found here www.serpent.com/xcart/cart.php?target=product&product_id=11556#product-details-tab-Setups
Thanks for the info. Have to make some big changes for hard packed dirt. Had to move shocks to outside and remove roll bar. Grabs nice and hard now into corners...grab throttle and off like a rocket. Have you had any issues with left front wheel (looking from rear ) coming loose? I have lost three wheel nuts. Have to really crank them on to secure.
Better manual would have been nice.
If you are unsure of anything I would be happy to help
@@TonyEvdoka Car is together, just seems that everything is tight. I did ream the A-arms etc, but the biggest issue seems that all the ball ends are extremely tight, limiting g free movement.
It probably needs a few runs and everything frees up nicely. If not there are Titanium pivot ball options that really free it
Very nice
What setup?
My full set up coming very soon
OMG planted, you still got it :-)
Lol .... for the odd lap. 😉
Looks pretty planted Tony.
It's a real pleasure to drive. Very easy. Look out for an email in the morning.
Looks good Tony
Amazing car front to back.. Thanks Tony for the SDX4 Evo Gen 3 Introduction
And as proved today, mega fast too
Very nice indeed 👍, hope you are keeping well.
Hi Tony, thanks for the presentation of the SDX4 Evo Gen 3. It looks really good and let's see when we have enough kits in Germany. Was the assembly of the belts difficult and from your experience, they the belt tensioning device for the front, from your experience, good? Thanks for the video, do you have any tips for the assembly? #besidetherace
Hi - The belts and the tensioners are extremely easy to fit with no difficulties what so ever. Some have found the split lower front gearbox casing a little difficult to slot into the chassis. I used some sandpaper on the split joints to make sure no burrs. I then used a blunt flat screwdriver to push from the inside into the corners of the chassis slot. It was easy then :)
What receiver battery fits well, which one do you use? Thank you
Hi. Have a look here. www.serpentuk.com/?s=Tx+lipo&post_type=product&dgwt_wcas=1
Hi Tony Could you please tell me what output voltage your power supply was running when you did this video?
Hi. 12v
where was the super charger bought at?
The company is not active any longer
Hi, I have an srx2 MH. Can I put the gen3 front straight arms on it without modification ?
Hi yah. Yes they would fit but its a different geometry for the shock tower and the shocks. The Gen3 tower will not fit. You would have to make a tower to fit the older car. Also the length of the shock shafts are different too.
@@TonyEvdoka Thank you very much for this detailed answer, thank you also for your great videos. I will take the arms of gen2 then. I am riding astroturf, do you think hard arms are a good option.
Hi Sylvain. Personally I would choose a harder wishbone than a softer one in higher grip conditions and surfaces. Low grip scenarios stick with the kit ones.
Awesome speedo, motors & servos. I've been using them for a few years now
Hi yah Jamie - with great success may I add - stay safe mate and see you soon :)
My old mucker, how are you. Great to see and hear you. Wish I was in UK to race with you guys :-(
Hey Tom - Loving your channel too mate - speak soon :)
@@TonyEvdoka Thanks buddy
fragile tools. they do not fit as well as MIP tools
Under normal circumstances I would delete a comment like this BUT I guess we all have opinions so I will allow!! I have been using ArrowMax tools for the last 7 years and never had a breakage or screws being rounded off. The Tungsten Steel tips are superb and fit perfectly. Make sure you have GENUINE ArrowMax tools and not the black gold copies circulating!!
Can you show your attachment method to your charger?
Hi Derek. The Iron simply plugs into any power supply. My charger happens to have a power supply that I can connect external products to. Hope this helps
@@TonyEvdoka Thanks Tony! I just wondered if I could plug it directly into the power supply?
Hello bro..i dont understand you explained about using dremal to the shock adjuster..Did you make some space messurement how much mm will left for the between the space of the shock adjuster..because in the manual not show like other prokit brand...please help me..🙏🙏🙏
Take the adjusted all the way to the top before marking it - that way it will always be the same on all of them :)
@@TonyEvdoka oh see..just use the original adjuster came back to the place
Amazing products from Arrowmax... :)
We love the black and golden tools
The throttle linkage on the carburetor chick is mounted incorrectly. Yes, you think that it is better from the place, but the lateral traction is higher than when I position it on the inside - towards the brake lever. At first I had it like yours, then I often had a jamming of the carburetor plug when the engine was hot. I had asked Billy Easton, he confirmed the assembly as in the instructions and that you have less lateral forces on the carburetor plug when you mount it on the inside Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
The linkage is specifically for the Alpha fitment of engine and none of us have had any issues ....
@@TonyEvdoka No problem, I had problems with an OS and with a Reds engine and 2 good carbs. I asked Serpent directly and they told me that the leverage is higher when you mount the engine as you can see here. If you don't have any problems, OK, but you should note in the video that it is not built as Serpent and the SRX8 manual says and the possibility of carburetor clamps is increased. If you have other experience, ok, I can only communicate my and Serpent's experience. But basically, there are no advantages to mounting it that way.
Hi Tony, thanks for yours vids, clear and interesting. I'm a young Serpent driver for 1 week now with a Srx2 Gen3. I used to drive Schumacher buggys back in the nineties and coming back to RC Car with the Gen3. I'm driving on my own private track. Working every week end and there is no 1/10 track where I live (a little island in Indian Ocean). My track is an old school one : dirt, sand, many holes, slippery in some places but sticky on the others. The box set-up is obviously not made for that kind of track. Step by step I have now a Gen3 more stable and easier to drive but I did not change diff position yet. Can you tell us what is the effect on the car when changing the diff position up an down please ?
thnks for uploading this will be helpful to my very first Srx8 Truggy 💗
The Truggy is obviously very similar and everything applies too :)
Epic!! You have a new subscriber! You should look into using SMZeus . c o m!!! I used it to promote my social media, you could use it to promote your videos.
No wonder Darren looks so young using SPF50 😎
Wow...lockdown hair cut. Jack is flying! Looked like a great day 😁🐍
For the first adjustment, should we screw as much as the the plastic T-nut go all the way down up to the outdrive "stopper", then back a little? or we should we never get the T-nut as down as the outdrive "stopper"?
that looks amazing
Too good to race it 😁 Stunning detail!
How long does it take you to do a full build Tony if you were not doing videos? Just curious.
Nathan looked faster...must be the yellow wheels 😉🐍
Another great video. I'm using the vented slipper pads too, no issues at all.
Will you be doing something similar for the E buggy?
Not yet
She's flying. Nice track 👍
