4 Learning Strategies for Success in my ABSN Program
Thank you for posting this video about absn ❤❤
GURL THIS IS SO INFORMATIVE so proud of you! And happy for you, will be using these tips for myself and this video actually made me subscribe lol
You are so welcome! I’m so happy to be able to help!! And thank you so so much!
Mine are time barred.....
In my area of Southern California LVN programs cost around 35K and a BSN 60k-70k at a four year ADN ~15K depending on how long GE's take you its wild.
this is exactly what i need to figure out… thank you
I’m scared, I’m an international student and the tuition feels is so high, I’m yet to process everything but I really don’t know if my parents can afford it
🔥🔥🔥
Did you hopstial have PCTs
Damn she did not take one breath the whole video
L O L😭😭😭 I can’t deny such a true statement
What a great achievement!
Ah thank you so much!
So my program is a 68 credit hour eligibility for ABSN program (this is my first bachelors) I got about 21,000 in grants for the year but I only got about 10,000 in sub+unsub loans. Tuition itself is about 45k, but I’d also need room and board and thats what’s shooting the cost to 60K+. School starts in 3 weeks and i’m very confused as to where to go from here
Sheesh, these program costs sure do stack up quick! But that’s awesome you got a really good amount of grants! What I had to do when my costs weren’t completely covered through grants and fafsa loans was apply for an additional Private Loan. I used a company called Mefa. For my loan application though, rather than request the exact remaining amount I needed for tuition, I requested the amount I needed for the remaining tuition balance + how much I would need for room and board. The Private loan company distributed the funds to my school, and since my school did not provide room& board, that extra loan money that was greater than the tuition amount was refunded to me, and I then used that money for rent & living expenses
I’m planning to go to college and other schools to become a crna nurse I really don’t wanna have loads of debt coming out so I’ll do my best to pay everything off
That’s awesome, if you can find ways to keep costs low and cash flow it as you go, you’ll be in great shape!
Congratulations🌹 on your accomplishment. I am starting my debt free.
Thank you so much! And way to go, you got this!!!
you are awesome tysm, yes pleaseeee make a video about living off the loans
Thank you so much!😅 I’m sorry I totally meant to link the video where I actually do do that How I Budgeted through My ABSN Without a JOB th-cam.com/video/CasTYOJheVk/w-d-xo.html
You've earned your financial independence- well done! 👍✨
Thank you so much!😆🙌🏾
This video is so encouraging!! I have a goal of 70K in 2.5 years so here i go! I love your energy btw ❤
Thank you so much! And ooh go girl😆! Definitely do-able with a budget and a plan!
I know it’s like a year later but Congratulations 🎉
Thank you so much!🙌🏾🙌🏾
Are ABSN program passout students eligible to apply for NCLEX?
I’m not familiar with what a passout student is? What’s that?👀
@@nurselifewhit students who have completed absn
@@aayushichaudhary3182 oh! Lol yes of course. As long as you have a bachelors or associates degree of nursing, you can take your NCLEX-RN. An ABSN is still considered a bachelors degree of nursing, it’s just that you completed your degree in an expedited way
thank you for posting! our stories are super similar, from being CA natives to going to HBCUs on full rides and graduating summa 😂 lemme get in this RN bag real quick!
Hayeeee come ON RN BAG🤣🤣🤣
Amennnnnn
I love how positive and how loving your approach is! I feel nowadays nurses speaking out are usually burnt out and very negative:( will be looking forward to watch your journey!! I’m starting nursing school this fall and I want to stay above the negativity and it’s another plus to find another sister nurse in Christ! Thanks for sharing ❤ also btw you are so beautiful!!
Thank you so much🥹That means alot! Ahhh and how excitinggg! I’m wishing the best for you in your nursing school journey!
Your so beautiful and smart 🥰🥰🥰
Oh Shucks thank you so much!😅
Encouraging! I’m graduating CRNA school with atleast 110k (more w interest im sure) and I m hella nervous about paying it off!
Omg congrats on CRNA school! The debt stinks, but with your CRNA income and an intentional budget and plan, you can knock that thing out for sure!
Your testimony about tithing was really humbling and encouraging in the midst of a big student loan to pay off. Thank you so much for sharing! I can just see the light and joy of the Lord all over you! It’s contagious!
Thank you so much, that means a lot! I’m really happy you enjoyed the video🙂thanks again for watching!
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 May God continue to bless your journey 🥳
Thank you so so much and thank you for watching!
In nursing everything is fast, fast heart rate, fast walking, fast charting. We can’t help it. Lol😂
Lol LITERALLY😅🤣
Im thinking about per diem shift too. I currently work full time with a ratio of 1:6 which is burning me out. Do you have to take up assignments like a travel nurse where you pretty much are signing up for a new position or do you just float around the hospital and go to floors that need the prn nurses?
For my hospital in particular, we were actually hired to a specific unit as a per diem nurse for that unit, but if there was a need for someone to float, then we as per diem nurses were the first ones to have to float to the other units. I have heard of other ways to work per diem though like through an agency, but I honestly don't know much about how all that works though Lol!
if we did a bachelor's in psychology in the UK then after we join the ABSN program to continue our nursing journey we can switchh psychology into nursing after one year
Oh that's really neat!
Hi Nurselife whit, May I know the average cost of studying accelerated nursing degree in usa? I’m looking for cheaper colleges (community colleges?) with any scholarship; I am 39 years old, Canadian citizen, pursued masters in Biotechnology and Masters in Public health in Canada and have been working in clinical trials for more than 11 years in canada but I am always fascinated about nursing; if you could let me know some community colleges in US that would offer accelerated bachelor nursing be great help!
Hi again! I'm honestly not well-versed on the outlook of program costs around the U.S., at the time when I was looking for programs I was moreso looking in a specific area. There's quite a bit of variables that can impact the cost though, mainly location and whether the program is private or public as well! Also, when it comes to nursing degrees, typically, a community college is where you can get an Associate's degree in nursing (I think I have heard some people tell me about community colleges with accelerated options, but I'm not well versed on that either), but otherwise, most Accelerated bachelor programs will be connected with a public or private university
Well that was powerfully positive. Thanks for this.
Thank you so much, I’m so happy you enjoyed the video! Thank you for watching!
Hi Nurselife Whit, I am Canadian citizen working in clinical trials in canada and wants to do this program - could you please tell me which college you studied from? and any other better colleges you can suggest? thank you in advance!
Hey there!! I studied at Shenandoah University (their satellite campus in Leesburg, Virginia. I personally enjoyed the program alot, but most of my research when searching for programs at the time was on which programs I could get into the quickest, in a certain location, and with good NCLEX pass rates. I have a google docs link though of some of the programs I searched for back in 2019 docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sgO425XXPy7F1GG4Q9UlVbLkhnjXEQcmv8JFNZwP0ho/edit#gid=1539771525
Amen & God's Continuous Blessings ❤..Thank you for Sharing
Amen and amen! Thank you so much for watching and for your support!🙂🫶🏾
I am planning to do ABSN program, as of I have a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering. But my question is how much credit do I need to get admission for this program or what are all the pre requisite which I need to get ? And can I know much it cost for ABSN ? Is there any options for scholarships?
It honestly varies from program to program! Your best bet would be to get into contact with the admission counselors at potential ABSN programs of interest and they should be able to lay it all out for you with the most accurate and specific details!
Thank you for adding your weight and height !!!
Anything to help!😅🫡
As an ICU nurse I have so much respect for MedSurg and PCU nurses cause girl sometimes 2 is a lot depending on the acuity or neediness of the patient.
Literally!😭 I actually made the switch and got trained into the ICU this year and let me tell you, I am so grateful for the time I had in MedSurg (and I usually don’t ever say never), but I am neva eva eva going back😭
Yes welcome to ICU, Mamas!!!!!
Hey! Did you have experience before starting your ABSN program? CNA cert or anything? I also have a BS but idk if I need experience before going into this field?😭
Nopeeee! Well, ok, nothing really significant at least😅 In high school I had this summer youth opportunity at a weight loss clinic to like file papers, fax doctors, and take people’s weights down. And then in college, I learned how to tape like two ankles😅 but that really is about it, absolutely no CNA work or anything like that though. I feel like getting experience as a CNA or working in a hospital setting in general would absolutely be helpful though!. Because when I was a new grad nurse, I definitely feel like I was learning how to be both a nurse and how to be a CNA at the same time😵💫. It definitely was not an impossible task, but I do find that my classmates who had that experience definitely understood the flow of the hospital a lot better and was able to more confidently dive into the nursing role more quickly and seamlessly . Lol so all in all, CNA experience prior is indeed valuable, but I would definitely not let that stop you or slow you down from applying for your ABSN! There’s definitely a lot of opportunities in nursing school to learn about and practice the CNA part of the job in nursing school clinicals , especially if you make an intentional effort. And It is definitely one of those types of tasks that nurses really do not mind getting an extra helping hand with from nursing students!
What private loan company did you go with?
Hey! This is the company I used www.mefa.org
(You don’t have to live or go to school in Massachusetts to use it)
Thank you so much!
May the Lord bless you even more
I dont usually comment on any post. Gurl!...your personality gave me life. Keep being you! God got your back, we need more caring nurses like you!..be bless!
Thank you so much😭 that really means a lot!🥹
Lord your taking me to a dark place right now LMAO....Getting stat K-rider orders and missing them because I was caught up in a 30-minute code brown, all while the family is coaching me through cleaning the patient and thrown in a hundred other directions, and now those potassium times are thrown off is just the worst.
😭😭😭😭 literally days like those were the bane of my med/surg existence
hey boo, I was wondering what lender you used for ur absn private loans. I am stuck between choosing one for my ABSN program. I will really appreciate if you respond.
Heyy girlie! I used MEFA for my private student loans (Massachusetts Educational Finance Authority - that’s just the name, you don’t actually have to live in Massachusetts to use them) My mom found it actually and chose it because they had an option where she could be the cosigner of the loan but after like a full year of payments consistent (or something like that) then her name would come off the loan as cosigner and it would fully just be in my name
After I graduated and started working though I actually refinanced the loan through sofi (when interest rates were super low in 2021) and got my new loan with First Tech with like a 2.9% interest rate
Really happy for you!!!! Congrats!
Thank you so much!😆😁
Thanks for this insight fam! ADN would be ideal to pursue to get into an RN program without any pre-requisites? I know ABSN require a bachelors in any field but I only have 51 credits and seeking to become an RN. However I also saw that most people hire BSN over ADN. Would pursuing ADN still be worth it or would you recommend the LPN path followed by pursuing RN afterwards
I think it definitely depends on your situation, there’s alot to consider! -the acceptance rate of the nursing programs around you, the affordability of those programs, the employment opportunities in your area and what education level they specifically hire, how fast you want to get your RN license, etc, etc! Also, one thing to consider is I’ve actually heard some people tell me that their ABSN program didn’t necessarily require them to have an actual bachelor’s degree, but just a certain amount of credits and prerequisites., So maybe call around and see what’s the requirements for the ABSN programs around you Overall though, not knowing all the deets of your situation, I feel like in general, going the ADN route to become an RN, working, and then having your employer pay for your RN to BSN program seems like a really great option in a perfect world (PROS: Super affordable going through a community college + ability to get started working as an RN sooner (compared to traditional 4yr BSN route) CONS: some community colleges have crazy long waiting lists + some of the more desirable RN positions may consider BSN RNs first before RNs with their ADN
@@nurselifewhit Thanks Whit!!!!
What lenders did you borrow from for your ABSN program and what was the interest rate for the student loans?
For my ABSN program I used a private student loan company called MEFA which stands for Massachusetts Educational Finance Authority (you don’t have to live in Massachusetts, that’s just what it’s called) At the time, my interest rate was around 6%, but that was back in 2019/2020 After I graduated and started working though, I refinanced through SoFi and got a really low 2.9% interestrste in 2021 back when interest rates were super low
@@nurselifewhitThank you for this information.
Hi, did you have to pay your first bachelors Loans while in the accelerated nursing program?
Nope! I had a FAFSA loan for my first bachelors degree so I didn’t have to pay on it while I was in my nursing school program. However, the FAFSA loan was unsubsidized, so the interest was still accruing while I was in school, even though I didn’t have to pay on it
@@nurselifewhit Thank you so much. If it is subsidized and there is a due date for the payment, what do you suggest I do please?
@@feyisayoadesina9272 depends on your situation! If you have payments due, I would definitely get started on paying them
congrats! i'm considering switching as well from med surg. what was the interview like? how is the switch going?
Thank you so much! And the interview questions were more so situational “what would you do” / “tell me about a time when” questions, more so assessing how I problem solve, how I communicate, and how I work amongst the team And so far the switch is going amazing, I have such an awesome learning environment, where everyone is so helpful, encouraging, and always there when I have questions And even when I don’t ask questions they are always looking out for me and offering guidance😭💕 I’m also really loving the change of work style, going from five patients down to two patients with much more attention to detail!
Congratulations!
Thank you so much!
Love watching all these videos. I have had this student loan hanging over my head for YEARS… it took until now to get into the mind set to pay this thing off!!!
Thank you so much for watching! It can be tough to look at the big number, but once you break it down to a step by step process you can really start to see the pathway there! Good luck in your debt free journey, you got this😆
over 300 ml must be catheterized by you; it is not nice from your part to leave on the next nurse
You totally missed the point
This is so encouraging! Thank you for this video! I’m currently in nursing school and I always worry about the negative stigma that the hospital environment can have. I already have trauma from work in general from micromanagement and working in a drama filled work place. Your stories definitely gives me hope. God bless! ❤
You’re so welcome and thank you so much for watching! I feel like we only really hear about all the bad stuff in the hospital so I definitely wanted to share a little bit of the good I’ve seen too!
