What generation is this digi boil?
I don’t recall! I looked in my account, and for some reason it isn’t showing as a previous purchased item. But, either generation works!
Hey, do you know why the wax pulls away from the concrete vessel after some time? I use soy coconut wax blend. I use a sealant for the container. I pour my wax, too, at around the same degrees you mentioned.
Hello, So when wax cools down, it contracts. Also, the concrete cools at a different temperature. There is no way around that, which I why I use a heating gun to heat the top once the candle solidifies. This is needed for only aesthetic purposes. It doesn’t seem to affect the candle itself or the way it burns. Side note- That won’t be the only time you will see that, either. It will continue to do that after a month or of sitting there. Kind of annoying, but completely normal! 👍🏻
How do I make my concrete vessels white I have tried titanium dioxide and snow white liquid colorants from marblers and still it looks grey to me
Hey! So, TD always works well for me. So, I’m thinking maybe it’s a percentage issue. Have you tried working with different amounts? Also, it might be just you overthinking. At times, I find that I am too critical on myself. So, remember to take it easy on yourself! 🙂
I seen 1 video and she bathed them before sealing .have you got to.Sorry 😅I'm new to all this ❤
No need to be sorry! Good question. I do not bathe my vessels. I’ve never had cracking issues, and that’s what people typically will do it for. It is not something you have to do, I have found 🙂
@evenifcandlecompany thank you for answering so quick x
Is this made from concrete or cement ??
Cement all rapid dry. You can find it at Home Depot! 👍🏻
Is there residue wax left in the bottom of the digiboil? If so do you just leave it in for the next candle making session?
This digiboil is designated only for my candles. So, yes I just leave wax in there. It’s never empty.
When you say pay attention to the temperature, what should we be looking for when unmolding? How long do you think is too long? How long do you usually wait?
Hello, At time stamp 15:35 I cover that. You want to wait until it's not warm, it takes about 3-4 hrs. But that depends on your environment, as well.
@@evenifcandlecompany I caught that part. I was making vessels from your videos and I don’t know what I did wrong. My vessels are cracked and cold as I unmolded them.
@@shakaramitchell6026bummer! You might be using too much water in your mixture or not having it dry in a proper space. I’m not sure why else that would occur. Hope that helps you out, and you can figure it out!
@@evenifcandlecompany I think I probably did. I was making multiples and It dried up super fast when I was adding the mixture to the mold, so I kept adding water to it. More than likely I made a bad batch. Any tips on what to do about it drying up before I’m done pouring the mixture? Thank you for helping and actually responding.
@@shakaramitchell6026I would make smaller batches. You can pour them faster and mix them better, leading to more consistency in your vessels. It’s time consuming, but will end up being worth it.
why distilled water??
In my experience, it causes spots if you use non filtered water. But see how it works for you first, from your tap. It could be totally fine where you live.
I thought you were going to show how to make the container Lolol
I have that separated from the candle making video! Here you go! Hope this helps 👍🏻 How To Make A Concrete Vessel (UPDATED) th-cam.com/video/LpIn02HMnt0/w-d-xo.html
I don't know if you have see the videos by Jai he has up vibe where he makes cement candle jars. In one of his videos he did like 7-8 maybe more different materials to use in making cement candle jars. I have learned a lot from him in making them. He also has a video on different types of sealers he has tried. Just a note in case you want to check him out. Thanks have a great day and God bless you and your house. Oh yeah you said your husband was in the military. He wouldn't happen to be a Marine if he is give him a SEMPER FI from me. Richard.
I haven’t watched him, no. But I have heard he is informative! All of my videos are based on experiences and opinions. So, this is just a few reasons for me. I try and be clear and transparent as much as possible 👍🏻 Thanks for your support and service! Yes, my Husband is a Marine, 16 years, so far. Proud wife! Thanks again, Brit
I had the same problem. I went on anozon and got a big silicone mat to lay down. It grips to what i lay it on and to clean any cement i get on it i just let it harden and it will just pop off most of the time. I live in the woods so i just take it out side and shack it really goo. Hope it helps.
This was a video from a while ago, since then I have gotten new products such as silicone mats and such, to help with this. I don’t plan on making concrete vessels much, anymore. But thank you for your help! 😀
Thank you so very much for all your candle class information, so very helpful and appreciated!! You are so amazingly helpful 😁🕯️
You are so welcome! Glad I could help! 😀🕯️
New subscriber here 🩷
Hello and welcome 🙂
Call me werid but I like the air bubble look in concrete
Not weird! I like it depending how many are showing. But most customers (wholesale) do not want those in a vessel. At a pop up event, it’s more acceptable I’ve experienced.
What type of wax and wicks do you use? Love your videos.
I use Coco 84 Wax. Wicks Vary! But I've had success with CD, CDN series. You will have to see what works best for you! Thanks so much for your support! Happy making :)
How long do you wait after removing from the vessels to seal? Then how long do you wait to pour?
It all varies with the size and environment. Wait until your mold is no longer warm to remove. All of this info on everything concrete related is on my how to make concrete vessels videos and how to make concrete candles . 👍🏻
I am so glad you made this “pros” video. I really needed this after watching your “cons” video. I’m much better now. 😊
Sorry! I understand it can be discouraging to hear cons. I try to be as transparent as possible on this channel. There are pros and cons to anything. Continue to do what makes you happy in this craft and feels best! Good luck and thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video, I wanted to know where you bought the fragrance oil?
I buy it from a few places. But Midwest fragrance co, flaming candle and Candle science are my typical places 👍🏻
@@evenifcandlecompany Is there a special place you recommend?
@@גילי-צ4ח All that I mentioned are recommended! :)
I couldn't agree more. Excellent video and extremely informative ❤
I appreciate that. Thank you for watching!
Thankyou!
Of course 🙂
🤣
Not to mention cement all goes bad super fast when you live in a humid area. I just bought 5 bags a month ago, took the time in making the vessels just for them to crumble like chalk! So devastating! I had no idea cement all has an expiration date especially in humid regions.
Yes! I didn’t know that for the longest time. I’m sorry that happened to you. Can be so frustrating. Are you making vessels anymore?
@@evenifcandlecompany yes but I have switched over to Hydro-stone
@@evenifcandlecompany hydrostone ROCKS!!! It’s all I use for my handmade candle jars.
It's nice watching other chandlers make concrete vessels
BEAUTIFUL VESSELS!!!❤
Thank you!
This is such an inspiring video. Could you create some content on how to get your website started/built. For those that are ready to go the next step in their candles buisness. Any helpful suggestions. Perhaps write steps and suggestions on taking steps in business for beginners and for those who are ready now to go the next level. Something we can download (ebook) for a reasonable price would be helpful. Just a suggestion.
Thank you for watching. I will have to look into your suggestions.
Excellent points. The set up looked fabulous. Glad it was an enjoyable day for you. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching 🙂
I love to watch you. Thank you for your content and the inspiration you bring to me.
Thank you for the support!
I think the experiment would have worked better if you also taped the thin vessel in the same way. So poure a little bit and then tap. But nonetheless interesting video ... I should also play more with my mix :)
I feel that it worked out fine. I tapped the appropriate amount of times for the thin consistency. I had to move the thicker one around more, since it started thickening much more due to talking in the video. But, most people who pour thin, don’t pour and tap a bunch. It almost defeats their purpose of doing it quickly. But anyways, it’s fun to figure it out! Thanks for the comment, and I’m glad you found it interesting!
Does it need to be distilled water?
It depends on where you are located. I have really hard water, where I am, so I use my RO system. You can buy distilled water, too. I tried faucet, and it created a lot of water spots on my vessels. I would try your faucet water and test it out. It might work out for you
What happens if I leave the vessel inside of the mold for ~3 days? So I'm 100% sure its super dry?
I’m wondering if you have had any issues with your vessels being wet? Just trying to see if there is another issue that’s going on. 👍🏻 I’m not sure why you would leave it in for a few days, because they actually don’t fully dry in the mold, also the expansion that occurs will cause issues for your molds. Let me know if I can help more 🙂
How do you do to put the name of your company in the candle like engraved in the cement?
It’s on the mold itself! Custom molds are an option for some companies. I am changing the company I have used because the quality lacks. Or else I would recommend them. Canadian silicone molds does it and I’m considering switching to them.
Should they be sealed ? 😊 if yes, what’s the product? Thank you!
Yes. That’s in another video. I use earthsafe sealant! earthsafefinishes.com
Is the pigment iron oxide?
So if you go on a color on the direct colors website each will have data sheets in a pdf drop down on the bottom , you will see what is and what isn’t iron oxide. Typically the red, black and yellows are. But here is a link to look into it further details directcolors.com/mm5/safety-data-sheet/Pigment%20102%20SDS.pdf
Hello. Thanks for the video. Did it work well as is or did you need to add a gasket so the spout did not leak? I've been hearing different things regarding leaks. Thanks in advance : ) (Oh, and try this to fix the Farenheit issue: Press and hold both the (+) and (-) for three seconds until the screen flashes. The Red indicator light will switch from C to F according to the manual.)
Hey! I’ve never had any issues regarding leaks. If I replaced anything, I would’ve mentioned it. I’m sure it’s different for others. Thankfully not the case as of yet. 😀
Would you tell me what color of pigment you used?
I am going to be putting a video out on Friday or Saturday about pigments. Stay tuned!
Thank You
You're welcome!
Hi Sister in Christ. Thank you for your videos. They are all so clear and easy to understand. Can you share the direct colors numbers you use for your vessels. I ordered several & with the cost going up. I was hoping to do one big purchase with them. If you rather not share that info I understand. God bless you in all you do.
Hello Tina! Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot. Of course I can share. Here are a few staple pigments I get on DC. I used to get a bunch, but I've decided using less is best for me, when it comes to options I offer. Titanium Dioxide Pigment Shade: "Smokestack" Pigment Shade: "Olive Tree" Color: 122 (1880)- Which is a reddish tone Have fun with them! I love to mix and create other colors.
What size and type of wick do you use in the 3 inch tulip?
Hello Tracy. Due to all the testing and tears and time that came into testing a wick, I would rather not share that. I might in the future. Also, it probably wouldn’t work for you anyways, because I have tried other recommendations and none of them panned out for me. So I decided to keep that info out of my videos. Thanks for your understanding. 🤍🙂
Thanks so much for sharing. Are these water resistant? Could I use the same blend to make planters?
You’re welcome! They are only water resistant if you use a sealant. And yes, I’m sure you could use it for planters. I know there are a lot of molds for planters out there. People use my vessels as planters, once candle is finished, as well. 👍🏻
Thanks so much for this review and all the information! I’ve been researching the Digiboils for a while and was hesitant to pull the trigger because of comments on others’ videos regarding overheating, but this seems to be a nonissue if the 500watt is used when oils or wax are in the bottom section only. Really feel this would be a great way to scale up my soap business. Thanks again! Your studio and candles are so beautiful. ❤ 🐝 🕯️
So glad this video was helpful for you! Nice to see a soap maker finding information from my channel, too! Let me know if you get one and how it goes for you! Thanks for the kind words. - Brit
Hi Brit, Which base did you use for the pigments, grey or white? This is all new to me. Your paper sheet, can you tape it to the table so it wont move? Thanks for your help!
Hey! I use grey base for pigments. I could tape it, but it would still crease and fold at times. So, let’s just say I’m no longer using that paper for this process 🤣
Thanks very much.
Normal cement or white cement
I get cementall. It’s a natural color
I tried, but after few minutes water was floating on the top.... I used normal water
I’ve never had water float at the top before, so I’m not sure why that occurred. Maybe it’s due to you not using distilled water, or possibly using too much water and not mixing well enough.
Oh my Gosh Britt! I love you! So much fun! What a great idea to have your partner join in! I have been making candles for 20 years but brand new to stone containers and absorbing all the content. Thank you! Ginny
So glad these videos are helping you, Ginny! 🤍 They are fun to make, but a lot of work, so I’m glad you enjoy these. He’s quite the husband! Thanks for your support! Much love-Brit
You’re doing a great job 🎉
Thank you so much 😀
Hello! So glad I found you..I love your content as you are so authentic! Keep it going. I do have a questions. I am using hydrostone and live in Canada. March Safe does not ship to Canada. Is there another sealer I could purchase from hardware store that is not flammable? Thanks! Ginny
Hi Ginny! I appreciate that, so kind. I’m assuming you mean Earth Safe? If so, they ship all over the world. 👍🏻🌎
Clean up question...how do you clean out your tools?
I use isopropyl alcohol with shop paper towels. It’s a messy craft lol, so I do replace them after a good amount of use.
I keep having air bubbles in the bottoms that I just can’t seem to get rid of (using a dental appliance to vibrate) but I feel like I use significantly more water. I’m gonna try your way with a thicker mixture. Thanks for the video
Hope it helps you out! Thanks for watching 🙂
Do you have a video on how to sand and seal the concrete vessels?
Hi Sue! Many people have asked about that, so I will be putting one out soon!
