Starting this new project, the house was built in the early 70s. About a year ago some moisture was first noticed in a corner of the basement after a night of heavy rain. There is now mold in that corner and the carpet is "bubbly". I´m really interested in seeing what has gone wrong in that particular corner.
Hey! Thank you 😊 greetings from sweden! Thank you for the feedback! I want my viewers to relax while watching, but not fall asleep! I might switch some songs…. 👍🏼 Did you translate to spanish? I understand german fairly well, which I thought was the common language in austria? 🙂 i do not understand spanish however 🙃
Hello! 👋 The Engcon ec214 is made for 9-14 ton machines! You can find more info at www.engcon.com I understand that engcon is more known World wide, but there are plenty of competitors. Steelwrist, rototilt (used to be called indexator) and ”SMP parts” have comparable products to engcon. I would compare prices if they are available in your country! 😀 best of luck to you!
No me importa ir a comprarlo alli

I believe the Europeans get permanent hard-ons when they use swivel buckets.
Of course we do! Don’t you? 😀
I remember they dig deep side of house in 1985 because old clay pipe was broke it was built in 1930.
Clay pipes are what i usually find, not sure when they began with pvc but i guess it was somewhere in the 70s.
Very old!
So this is what you do to relax on the weekends! Sure beats going to the gym. =D That little grapple is just perfect. Here in the US, the first go to piece of equipment is a skidsteer over a small excavator - 20 to 1 at least. I can't understand the thinking except that skidsteers look more macho and there are YT's of guys doing wheelies in skidsteers??? If I had a machine like yours, you couldn't give me a skidsteer. Have a good week!
This footage is from april I think. But yes it usually is how I spend part of my weekends at least 😅 I have thought alot about why it is so different in different countries! I watch alot of usa TH-camrs that work in landscaping etc. They sure do get alot of use out of them, but i like my setup. A wheeled loader able to travel at 50km/h and my excavator 🙂 I have used a skidsteer on 1 job over a my 15 years of doing landscaping jobs. I do not have a reason to invest in one. They are generally rare in sweden. Thanks, you too! 😀
@@Stocksten-wl4ey it is very interesting to hear your thoughts on equipment choice. I was questioning the validity of my observation. Seems as though our logic about efficient machines "tracks". Intentional pun ) =D When It comes to loading, your wheel loader can "run circles" around a skidsteer! I did it again! I feel like a comedian today =D This is one of many great things about YT - being able to share with others in far away lands. :)
Haha 😀 i am very happily surprised of how the yt community is! 👍🏼👍🏼 Just thought of a major reason why there probably are so few skid steers over here. I can imagine they are useless for plowing snow! Almost every loader is used for snow removal during winter. I travel well over 10 km between snow removal sites!

I have never encountered a gas line, but electric cables are marked with yellow in Sweden! Thank you for the comment! 🙂
Great video. Backfill with questionable fill. More sand , then clay helps moisture drain. Drain pipe has seen better days. Storm water is a beast
Thanks! Thank you for the feedback! 😀
great work and nice video :D
Thanks! Thank you for the feedback 😀
Yes indeed - this was an interesting day. That sand trap has not let storm water pass in many years. You found a smoking cannon this time. Could the fittings that cracked have frozen because they were full of water? Don't know what your frost line may be - but when I first saw the split, freezing is what I thought. I get a real bang out of the way you can manipulate the bucket. The little tilt and scratch motions are VERY cool. Have a good weekend!
I am glad you enjoyed it! 😀 Frost depth is 1,6 meters. About the depth of the cracked pipes. But that is so rare to happen. And this close to a heated house under a lawn that has Snow all winter as insulation i would say its not frozen water that caused it. Thank you for watching and commenting 😀 thanks, you too!
Otroligt bra jobbat! Längtar redan till nästa💪

Thank you for the comment! :)
Yellow is for electric
That is correct! I am glad that they had put som protection over the cables :)
This was another productive work day. The "Y" landed in exactly the wrong spot. The pressure of the backfill bearing down on the PVC fittings right at the corner of the footing was sure to crack at some point. I'm happy for you and your client that you found the "smoking gun"! I'm surprised to see that the corrugated and perforated plastic drain pipe is not full of silt. 50 years on, they all are in my region. We built them the same way - not filter fabric. If the trench got filled with "bank run" it was considered a good job. All the best 😊
Exactly! It was unfortunate placement, I do understand the thought process when they put the pipe there. I like these situations where I can learn from others mistakes! 🙂 I think the drain pipes will be in worse condition on the other side of the house, time will tell! You too! 😀

Man troede engang, at lerlag beskyttede grundvand.

Next time a tarp down before piling up the dirt there. But you are right about the pain in the butt electrical, have the own been told to drop wire and conduct down that hole while it is open to u- grade, you would have make a real difference for his later upgrades.
Thank you for the comment and tips! 🙂 I am not sure what the purpose of a tarp would be in this case. In my experience it is in the way when scraping the material clean from the lawn. I would use a tarp if i know the material will be laying in the same spot several weeks and i do not want for example clay to rain down and mix with a driveway or such.
Intressant projekt!

This is going to be a bear of a job because of the tight space and the plantings. I hope you brought along all of your patience. You will need it! 😊 6 mil plastic (what we call Visqueen) what layed over the wet asphaltic coating regularly in the 70's. Block was already known to "leak", so this was an early attempt to keep the water on the outside of the lower level. Fortunately, the bottom of the footing is not too deep. That makes the digging a little easier (well. more like the stockpiling of spoils). 👍
It will be for sure, always feels bad to tear up a well kept yard. Everything but the hedge can be removed if needed though. Luckily I have plenty of patience 😀 I do enjoy the challenge of working in tight spaces. The fact that it is mostly gravel that i excavate is nice, compared to clay it barely increases in size when excavated 👍🏼 Thank you for the info! The plastic actually seems to have kept the asphalt coating in good condition. Nice to see you are still around 😀
Spännande!
Absolut!

Another job well done! My measure of an operators skill is wasted motion, wasted time, not knowing what to do next (failure to think ahead), and pride in your work. You, sir, are a darn good operator! Any young person who aspires to be an operator would do well to use you as a role model. Thanks for the shot of the pallet of leca blocks. Now I understand They will be used as what I would call piers. They are leca rather than cement because leca will not wick water. Glad to see you got some nice saw logs out of this job. A little bonus :) I really like your compactor too. Round foot makes sense and all of the energy goes straight down. Much better performance and easier to move than the typical US flat plate compactor, pushed and pulled with a lawnmower like handle. Take care and I'll be watching :)
Thank you so much for all the positive feedback! Very kind words, I did not expect this from an online community! I'm from the school of never to much drainage. Based on the location of the solid rock, I will suggest dividing your French drains an downspout drain into three sections. First is the high back corner to daylight along the long side. Second is the opposite side from the big rock to daylight . Third is the high back corner to the solid rock then out and around to daylight. French drains constructed as on the last job with a filter fabric wrap, a shallow be of stone, your perforated pipe, buried in clean gravel and wrapped. The reason I would take this approach is because this is a woodland setting next to a lake and the building will likely be unoccupied most of the time. Short of running a dehumidifier all of the time, the owner will always want the building to be "more dry". That's just how it is under these conditions. So I would take the extra step and install the wrapped French drains and downspout receivers and pipe the water away as "insurance". Just one mans experience both as cabin in the woods owner and as a builder. :)
As always, Thank you for the feedback! 👍🏼😀 your suggestion is also what I’m leaning towards here.

Tack 😀
You got a lot accomplished in one day! Great way to end the day with a polar bear plunge :)
It sure is nice to work in good weather, if i can work long days with sunshine and skip a few rainy days it is a good trade imo! 😀 yes, i could not resist taking a plunge! I had permission to so from the owners🙂
@@Stocksten-wl4ey You were just another fish in that big lake. 😄 I like the rock pile you harvested. Will be great for landscaping👍
@@stevejohnstonbaugh9171 haha, i was a fish for 5 seconds 😂 ye! Savin the rocks for landscaping, customer wanted anything football sized or bigger.
