    I'm pretty sure that a fine grind is not the best idea for a device that puts out 1.5 bars of pressure (maybe 2 on a Brikka) at most. James Hoffman is like the coffee expert and he recommends a medium grind. Other than that, I agree with the above tips. I put near boiling water in the chamber 10/1 ratio, medium to dark roast, paper filter, and turn the heat to loooooww once it starts to brew. Also, pop that basket open (I use a chopstick) and clean it every few months or so, it can collect a lot of residue.

    30g of coffee per shot? That’s some next-level dedication! At this rate, your coffee stash will disappear faster than my willpower on a Monday morning. 😅 You might want to check out James Hoffman's recipe-he uses just 11g per shot, and it’s still delicious! Plus, you’ll get almost triple the coffee for the same amount of beans. Your wallet and your coffee supply will thank you!

    • @volcanicacoffee
      @volcanicacoffee 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes you can, just make sure to get the right grind size, you'll want to go for a finer grind, avoid french press grind, we offer a variety of pre-ground coffee grind sizes. Freshly ground will always taste better, and whole beans stay fresher for longer. So it may be worth investing in a grinder!

    I just got a coffee grinder and bought beans. It is definitely different, the fresh ground coffee doesn't have as much stale bitter taste and the flavor is just brighter. I'm not a huge coffee person but man the fresh ground literally tastes more fresh duh as it should and smoother.

      Heated water, filtered or bottled water and the right grind size made the biggest difference for me.

  • @CH-yp5by

    The coffee will taste better with bottled mineral water not Britta water and instead of naked flames use a frying pan (steel not aluminium or cheap alloy) and leave it on the lowest heat until the first liquid comes out. Take the flying pan off the gas and leave the pot on the frying pan, the residual heat from the pan will keep the pressure up so you get enough liquid continually out but it will gradually reduce in temperature so that way you do not over cooked the coffee. If you take the pot off the heat all together it will drop in temperature too quickly and this prevents you getting enough liquid in the top chamber ! And as a comment below said , use an aero press filter or a cut out from chemix paper filter that covers the mesh filter. Also, avoid shitty cheap electric grinders use a good quality hand grinder or a more expensive coffee grinder.

    I own an AeroPress, but as time went on I figured out that a French Press makes coffee a bit better with a stronger taste profile. But since the French Press I've moved on to Turkish coffee, Vietnamese Phin coffee maker, and a Bialetti Brikka Moka Pot, all three make much better coffee than the AeroPress could ever hope for...if you want strong flavored coffee. Since the AeroPress is very similar to the French Press, if you want a stronger flavor out of it, you need to use the inversion method. After stirring, you need to let it set for about 5 minutes before plunging; 30 seconds is nowhere near long enough. The AeroPress and the French Press are both immersion makers, so if the French Press says wait 5 minutes, you should then do the same with the AeroPress. Give the longer 5 minuted wait time a try and see what you all think.

    Team v60 here, but I admit being curious about the Chemex since I've only had Chemex brews by other folks and none of my own. Seems like I'm inclined to stick with the Hario mainly because I do appreciate a bit more oil and "character" to the cups I brew (the ZP6 is shockingly consistent, might be a whit TOO clean with the Chemex!). The prices of the filters are also more flattering to the Hario, at least in my area. Thanks for the vid!

    Coffee drinkers, the expert on coffee is you. It might be the way shown in the video, or your own way. Here is my way with French press. I use a tablespoon of fine ground coffee per coffee mug of water. This comes to 10-12 grams of coffee per 250 ml of hot water. I eyeball it. I use boiling hot water. After putting the coffee and water in the french press, I let it sit but don't time it. Not necessary in my view. I have training in coffee cupping. In blind tests I cupped French press coffee comparing my normal routine with letting the boiling water sit before brewing it, timing the brew (coffee plus water) for a few minutes before drinking it, mixing the coffee and water in the french press and skimming. The difference was negligible, coffee that was mixed before final preparation and sat longer was a bit more acidic. That's a good thing, if you prefer it. I like my coffee as hot as humanly possible. What makes the most difference is the quality and freshness of the coffee, using fine ground coffee and filtered water. And making the coffee in the way you prefer. Remember, 1 heaping tablespoon per coffee mug (10-12 g coffee per 250 ml hot water)

    I use espresso roast beans. Because that’s what you need if you want that powerful espresso flavor. All these baristas these days using non espresso roasted coffee for espresso drives me crazy. Also you need way more grounds than what she used for the espresso style. I don’t measure or weigh because I’m not a nerd I can eyeball it just fine after making it the way I like it once 😂

    • @scasny
      @scasny หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its made for darker roast in mind and make stronger coffee then a french press. Note that in moka cup means 50ml a mug is 250ml. So to fill a standard mug you need at least 6cup version. To make 2 decent mugs 9cup version. I was using french press with 15min brew time. From a 9cup moka its way faster, have the strength but more smooth taste. I measure the coffee as pouring in whole beans and grind that. It make a little mound that i press down as the fresh grind is more aerated. Grind coffee from a vacuum sealed pack may differ. After the brew if the coffee cake in the basket fall out when you turn in up side down. It means its not packed enough. Mine are firm similar as from expresso machine and you can picked them up. The finest setting on my cheaper grinder with flat metal "grindstones" make just the right blend of fine and course mix similar what she show in the video. In french press it cause quite a lot of fine particles to pass true but the moka is very clean as the coffee is packed and not sloshed around.
