I made some IDIOT MISTAKES at the Coupe de France #2 Valberg 2023
This was such a mess of a race, and I made some pretty fundamental mistakes! Still managed to achieve my overall goal for the weekend.. just..!
I got off to a bad start with having some bike jobs to do before I could even go up for practice. Mistake number 1. Didn't mention this in the video actually! Then there was the full frame rebuild.. and some on track errors too. Learnt a lot, will try not to make these mistakes again, and I hope you never do either. Cheers for watching!

Weeks 1-2 Is it REALLY that bad??
มุมมอง 65311 หลายเดือนก่อน
I snapped my ACL back at Leogang World Cup in June, although I didn't get a diagnosis for another month or so. I opted to get surgery and was pretty worried about how bad the first two weeks would be, based on everything I'd seen & read online.. this is my journey so far, and I'm glad to say it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. If you're wondering how it's gonna be, I hope you find this re...

We are in Leogang for Round 2 of the UCI World Cup Mountain bike series! Despite the puncture at Lenzerheide last weekend, I learnt loads and had a great weekend there, with loads to bring forwards into this weekend which I wanted to work on to improve the quality of my riding. But then.. disaster struck!

The Chase

Trying to get to work but the village troll keeps doing everything he can to make you late.. hammering down singletrack, ebike fully laden complete with paniers, and we still gotta ride up a big hill after all that.. the chase is on to get to work on time! Big thanks to SCOTT Sports and SCOTT Sports France for lending me the very capable SCOTT Patron e-ride to make this video.

    One big question for me: I jump too early- when i see the lip I raise the front end then my back wheel comes off the jump earlier than the lip -as u do here too, your back wheel touches the lip ( end of jump) -how do to that? how to think about that? Almost like a manual ? can u please help me with that ;D ?

  • @LaurentiusTriarius
    @LaurentiusTriarius 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What I see that's not there is maintaining control over her balance point by being at the center the pivot point, pulling your butt over the rear wheel is not right; pull with your hips centered in the middle of the bike (bb ideally) and lean back straight arms, then adjust your body position in small increments back and forth by moving your hips. Starting with your weight hanging far back over the rear wheel is giving gou more leverage to pull up but it's absolutely not being in control, especially at slow speeds on flat, gravity and speed are terrible cheaters.

    Any top technique tips for going from trail jumping on an enduro bike to jump lines on a dj bike?

    • @EmilyHorridge
      @EmilyHorridge 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      hmm.. it kinda depends on the jumps. If the jumps you usually do on your enduro are pretty steep then probably not much difference, but if they are more mellow and require speed, then I'd say be careful about not going too fast on proper steep jump lines on a DJ bike. You'll probably get more boost/speed from the DJ cos there's no suspension sucking energy/speed. Hope that helps!

    • @EmilyHorridge
      @EmilyHorridge 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm on a 26" on the DJ bike. It's nice, it gives a good margin for error compared to a BMX but it's nice and precise.

    26t-27.5t are better at quick turns and 29er for speed maintain. how was your experience with them?*

    • @EmilyHorridge
      @EmilyHorridge ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that was true when 29 first arrived on the scene cos geometry was still weird. Now 29 is faster everywhere in my opinion, and i couldn’t actually feel any advantage with the mixed set up so I went back to full 29.

    I am in my late 40s and can totally relate. Good run, I was not only in Lenzerheide living in Switzerland but we also supported our (non-Swiss) athlete in Leogang with her knee-injury and watched the race there. Quite challenging track but as you said, you learn with every run and every race, it is a completely different business than riding just for fun here and there… :)

  • @chp1640
    @chp1640 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey how cool is that, I am in Lenzerheide every year to watch and support! I didn‘t knew you compete in the WC! The wood section is gnarly and steep, I did the run with my firebird last year once… :) Next time I look out for you and bring some Kaiserschmarren! 😂

    • @EmilyHorridge
      @EmilyHorridge ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah cool! Well, I used to do World Cups and I thought I'd do a few again this year :-) . I've heard there is no world cup at LEnzerheide next year, I'm sad about that as I enjoyed it and I wanted to go again!

    • @chp1640
      @chp1640 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EmilyHorridge Oh, I didn‘t knew that! That would be pretty sad since the location is so nice and the organization is Swiss level! Especially compared to the chaos in Andorra or Leogang, which I visited as well.

    • @EmilyHorridge
      @EmilyHorridge ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah I wasn't too big a fan of Leogang in terms of parking and general organisation and that side of things.@@chp1640

    • @chp1640
      @chp1640 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EmilyHorridge Exactly, we went there on short notice to support an athlete and the parking was a desaster, the bike park itself is cool but everything around… hm. Last year I had the chance to go to Andorra and it was no fun at all. Parking was bad, no lift to the finish, pits scattered everywhere and it was hot and dusty. The atmosphere were also accordingly. Only talking to Max Commencial for 15 min was the best thing of the day, he is such a nice easy guy, so enjoyable! I think as much as I see Red Bull as problematic, but the energy behind was really better than it is now. I think the UCI went on to become a similar basic democratic organization as the FIFA. ;) I think it is a challenge to organize such events and finance them well, so many aspects, that is really a challenge. But as soon as it becomes predominantely a money making machine it will kill the sport‘s soul. Let‘s see and hope for the best.
