    Arrrggh! Watched one tyre after another get eaten in the semis. It was like every single sniper rock on the hillside was coming out to play.
    So good to see you progress through such a gnarly track.

    Hey how cool is that, I am in Lenzerheide every year to watch and support! I didn‘t knew you compete in the WC! The wood section is gnarly and steep, I did the run with my firebird last year once… :) Next time I look out for you and bring some Kaiserschmarren! 😂

      Ah cool! Well, I used to do World Cups and I thought I'd do a few again this year :-) . I've heard there is no world cup at LEnzerheide next year, I'm sad about that as I enjoyed it and I wanted to go again!

    • @chp1640
      @chp1640 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EmilyHorridge Oh, I didn‘t knew that! That would be pretty sad since the location is so nice and the organization is Swiss level! Especially compared to the chaos in Andorra or Leogang, which I visited as well.

    • @EmilyHorridge
      @EmilyHorridge  ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah I wasn't too big a fan of Leogang in terms of parking and general organisation and that side of things.@@chp1640

      @@EmilyHorridge Exactly, we went there on short notice to support an athlete and the parking was a desaster, the bike park itself is cool but everything around… hm. Last year I had the chance to go to Andorra and it was no fun at all. Parking was bad, no lift to the finish, pits scattered everywhere and it was hot and dusty. The atmosphere were also accordingly. Only talking to Max Commencial for 15 min was the best thing of the day, he is such a nice easy guy, so enjoyable! I think as much as I see Red Bull as problematic, but the energy behind was really better than it is now. I think the UCI went on to become a similar basic democratic organization as the FIFA. ;) I think it is a challenge to organize such events and finance them well, so many aspects, that is really a challenge. But as soon as it becomes predominantely a money making machine it will kill the sport‘s soul. Let‘s see and hope for the best.

    Also taking the correct line will avoid mistakes plus its faster. Never cry just rip it again, even if doesn't count.

    Aaaaahhh that's so frustrating, so sorry Emily and its a shame they don't let you restart if it's a mechanical failure

      Yep, it really did suck! But at least I’m ok and I get to have another go next week 😎 thanks for watching 😁

    You seemed on Empty hydration with electrolytes and tons of fuel, never ride on Empty. You could literally see the dehydration on your face. Not to mention dehydration causes cramps. Strength and cardio conditioning, don't get back behind bike when scared neutral prevents front end from washing out and pumping in and out if trail to carry speed. No brakes mid turns, and always look where you're going especially when trying to race. Plus you take the casual slow line, never the racing line, that girl you talked to knows what she was doing taking the racing line. There should be no heavy breathing ever. Oh yeah try not to case table jumps hazardous to your ability to walk. You Got This!!!

    • @EmilyHorridge
      @EmilyHorridge  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha this is quite hilarious. I'm flattered that you thought my old aged wrinkled face was down to dehydration rather than being in my mid-40s, thanks 😉 . As for S&C, the saying "it never gets easier, you just get faster" from roadies is true.. you don't breath less, but you're capable of more before fatigue hits. Have a listen to Myriam Nicole's breathing on any of her race runs.. it's not light. As for lines... well, we do all make mistakes and find ourselves riding some weird thing well away from our preferred line 😅

    Oh yeah try going 29 er not too slack, carbon, FS. Borrow one that fits, a good bike can compensate a lot for horrible technique. I'd go Specialized , but modern ones too long and too slack or try getting Lapierre sponsor for racing and the channel. #YouGotThis

    And that’s why I quit racing. All that work and then a flat.
    Great riding though 🤟

    • @EmilyHorridge
      @EmilyHorridge  ปีที่แล้ว

      ha you could argue all that work and not evening qualifying - that's the reality for most of the women trying to make it at world level downhill. And I know what you mean, I quit DH racing in 2012, but now the focus is a little different and it's fun again 🙂 Being old and past it helps, you don't care about results, just about riding as best you can.

      @@EmilyHorridge after watching you though I started thinking about racing again but this summer I’m out with another broken collarbone for bit. Maybe back to riding in august hopefully

    You probably had poor weight position over bike, or braking while turning, to cause that crash. I can't tell for sure but you get behind bike when scared, unweighting bike in wrong places. Plus you cased a lot of table jumps, that could lead to serious injury.Don't blame trail unless it's wet or slippery.

  • @f1georgemotogp
    @f1georgemotogp ปีที่แล้ว

    You need to work on your strength and cardio, you should be breathing normally after a few runs. A tired rider crashes or makes mistakes. Don't forget to pump or get on cranks when you can and only scrub speed for hard corners, and always way before. You'd place much better, with better technique and conditioning, a coach perhaps.
