I wonder if you could mix the root starch with the pollen for an all cattail recipe.
@@tao.of.history8366 a very neat idea
Chanterelles purple (violet) it's rare and protected in Europe
In Pakistan they just steam bake the pollen and eat it as a dessert. They put the pollen in little cloth pouches and steam bake them.
Also has the highest concentration of iron in roots and plants super good for you I drink it in teas
It has cancer causing agents
Luv this info bro
Sasafrasvleaves look like fig leaves
Love sassafras tea the FDA is full of garbage.
Thanks that was fun
Do you sell the root ?
@debseglund5377 no I do not.
Have you ever heard of Dr Sebi ? He was a firm believer that the Sarsaparilla is a very powerful healing plant.
@@debseglund5377 I will research him . Thank you
Thankyou 🌝🌝🌝❤️❤️❤️
wonderful, new sub UK.
if you're matching w a similar volume of wheat flour, which includes gluten, you could probably get it to rise w yeast. if not, adjust your percentages up w greater wheat flour til you can get it to rise.
I harvested my first chaga this month here in Michigan. Thank you for sharing the other mushrooms we can harvest from our amazing birch trees.
I buy chicory at the health food store and mix it 50/50 with coffee to lessen the caffeine intake. I should try it w/o coffee altogether!
could I run stripped down hazel sticks through a wood chipper and boil the wood chips? do you think that would work?
@bricebeaulac if they were green I do not see why not
Good info 😊
we have hundreds of Boletes that grow on our property in central michigan that are about the size and color of a McDonald pancake on top. On the bottom they are yellow and have porous spongelike wholes on the bottom end. They look lovely, but I'm afraid to eat them.
You think the bitterness is due to the alkaloids?
Excellent video! Thank you!
I am so thrilled that I found your channel! I have recently taken up natural dying and, not being a Michigan native, I needed to know what we have up here. Thank you for these videos!
I wonder if adding alcohol would preserve the pollen? Not sure that would be good or work
No mention of psychoactive properties? Perhaps a legal thing or a personal preference. All good. However, your observance on these characteristics of this mushroom would have been beneficial. You guys are the best mushroom channel on TH-cam.
@larrykent2521 on the end plate with listed features I listed as active .
Turns red there at the base of the stem too What a great log for sharing examples in every stage of growth
Been picking these all summer along with luteofolius in MN 😊
@mr.giggles4995 I rarely find luteofolius . It is a great gym though . Preferred by many
Cool mushrooms. Always wanted to observe these. Plenty of better actives around though eh?...just kidding.
@@derekclawson4236 the aroma is certainly worth experiencing at least once
Finally Im not the only one seeing Gyms out here in MI. Thanks for all your videos!
@@GreenTableGardens Eric in Indiana is in constant battle with social media on educational videos . We will see how well this sails .
@@FoundYouForaging agreed it is getting to be difficult to educate on most platforms for identification and safety, without even bringing up possible uses. Thanks for all you do!
I live in north-west indiana and have been finding gymnopilus luteofolius, i already uploaded to i naturalist , i noticed them to be kinda rare for the area, or at least no one cares about anything other than cow or morels in my area..
@Deicide219 it is definitely one I continue to look for in Michigan. Some places in Northern Indiana. I know people near Lansing that find them and people near middleburry Indiana. At this point it's just timing and environment. I'll definitely check out the iNat observations

Always enjoy your vids and you guys do an outstanding job...great camera work and your explanations are very edifying and easy to comprehend. Thank you!!!❤
Only thing that makes me upset is you and Dawn should go viral!!! So much info, so wonderful to watch, so educational. I'll see if I can do anything that boosts views. Off topic here but Haven't been hit by metero tsunami lately but saw another one on inland lake...crazy as all get out. Downburst from clouds displaces that water and it has to reform equilibrium so it's something to pay close attention to if you're in a bottle neck area. Actual rogue waves on tiny lakes...do you recall?
I wonder if I can find a witch hazel tree in Nevada?
I agree with the other comment that the months most likely to find the mushrooms would be great info
Can someone spell the Latin name please.
Cichorium intybus
Good video! Good info.! Thank you.
i've never seen black trumpets that pale! they're really black in my area, that's so funny
Really like these mushroom videos but one of the biggest pieces of information that u could pass on to us novices is what month r u finding each particular shroom....the one time I found a beautiful chicken of the woods was in late July I believe....u can bet ur butt I always look come that time of year...
Your videos are always awesome packed with great info, and mushrooms I wish I could seek out.. What are the big grey ones on the table, though? It's one I've not seen yet here in Michigan.
@@jjcdrummer Gomphus ludovicianus ( pigs ear )
@@FoundYouForaging Those are neat!! I might try one if I ever come across them.. Quick Google search says they’re good in tacos, and have a sort of meaty texture. Thanks!
It's not true that birch polypore grows only on birch. Last fall, fall of 23, I found it on cherry. I'm willing to admit that cherry is very weird and rare, but it definitely gave me a good flush on cherry. I live in northeast ohio, and I swear this is the truth.
Thanks David, the cornbread bolete looks way cool. I hope to find some someday.
Always a treat when you provide your take on mushrooms.
I finally found this in Florida! Found 5 of em, actually. I also found Frostii, but haven't eaten it yet at the time of writing. Thanks for this video, this is the exact mushroom I found today.
Do you sell this witch hazel? I would love to purchase some
Love the Teeshirt! Not only do I believe, I’ve seen them. I know! Please check out my field work and body of evidence gotten here in Michigan. Volumes of audio mined from the depths of our woodlands and watersheds… Aw-Teeka-Peeka-Hut!
Thank you for this! I recently discovered a nice bunch in a public park outside of Detroit. Heading back today!
