    Nice job. It added some nice depth between the high and low vocals. I can't really explain it other then ' depth of texture' kind of like the layers in a painting? If that makes sense. Sounds great!

    The 808 bass drum did NOT change because that is technically impossible. Most so called 808 basses nowadays are simply sine waves. Also you guys act like there was no sub bass in HipHop before Snoop Dogg came up with that Sub Kick wich is absolutely ridiculous. In the eighties we had already acts like 2Live Crew who made 808 beats with sub bass kicks. And in the nineties when most beats where sampled breaks producers often used synth sub basses wich were heavier then all this overcompressed and sidechained pseudo 808 crap you hear nowadays. Also Drum & Bass producers used sampled 808kicks to play melodic basslines long before it became a trend in US HipHop. Producers like Dillinja or LTJ Bukem used such sampled 808 kicks already in 1993. If you compare modern HipHop to REAL bass music like Dub or old school Drum&Bass/Jungle it's just thin and the low end is nothing but a joke. You said it yourself: "HipHop became mainstream POP MUSIC." And pop music can never be heavy.

    • @FreakingOutWithBillyHume
      @FreakingOutWithBillyHume 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well you're wrong on a few points: First, you're drawing some conclusions about what we said that are just plain misinterpretations of our opinions.... calm down it's just music. Also, I don't think we ever said that there was no sub bass before a certain. point. Next... the 808 sound DID change - not in the drum machine but from what people did to it be compressing, EQing, tuning it down further by slowing the tape it was recorded to (which also adds more low end). And yes... most 808's today are not actually from then old or new 808s. At a certain point saying 808 just means the sound and how it's used. But thanks for watching and making a comment.

    I've been saving my Ghost LE24 and most of my late 90s gear from my basement studio in Chicago. I just retired from my AV Tech job at 65, running the Fremont Street video canopy, and am now ready to re-open a project studio in Vegas. Plugged everything last week and everything is as it was in 2000 when I used it last, even channel 11 being dead. Although I've been mixing in the box as a side hustle since 2K, I want a hybrid studio this time and use my Joe Meek mic pres compressors and Lexicon reverbs with the Ghost through Lynx 2 card MOTU gear and Adat, with the ability to record drums. So I'm following your progress and hope I'm competent enough to fix channel 11. Smooth sailing and may the force be with you.

I had only bought the spare part about 2 days earlier by chance. My boss came back after lunch to find it working again, and just for fun he "told me off" for fixing it too fast.
