I used Benjamin Moore paint and hatted it. I used a olive green B/M paint over white walls, It needed 4 coats to cover them white walls. one day between coats so took me 5 days to finish. no more B/M for me.

Do you account for certain paints that take longer to dry, like semi gloss ? if a wall needs 3 hours before you can paint a second coat, would that be reflected in the price?

I just went to a PPG (non corporate) vendor and Home Depot looking for the permanizer. Was told it’s been discontinued recently. Not sure if true but based on your test, I was going to use it. Off to 2nd place!!

94559 prices running $3.50 sq/ft on the cheapest side, up to $7.50. Contractors site hourly rate help being the biggest contributor to rising costs. Just getting out on my own so I can bid lower but might take longer. Prep work is a bigger factor in cost for me when quoting. Some projects are pressure washing and some caulking. Some are spending a week with Bondo and spackle before taping starts. I haven’t taken on any interior projects yet but tons of great info for future projects!

Ton of thought and effort on your part for the benefit of all. Thank you. Getting ready to spray my house after installing Hardie Plank. When spraying the thicker paints, like Dynasty, Marquee, resilient etc, do you thin it? I noticed when reading the labels it mentions thinning. It’s not until you drop to Behr premium plus, that labels say you don’t have to thin. I have a professional sprayer, was hoping to apply a thick paint w/o thinning. Additionally, would you use a 515 tip or 517 with the thicker paint?

STRIP, SAND then prime. It's the only way to do it.

Definitely need to add Glidden Premium Exterior - used on all of the TUFF SHED's . Permanizer is a great exterior paint hard to beat has a UV resistant formulation

So...forget the primer? You betcha!

Excellent content! I've often wondered how (and why) some companies dispense prices with little to no measuring - now I know! On a related note - after trialing your estimating sheets for a few months, I've transitioned from the expensive apps (and their respective limitations) to your tools. Your estimating tools have proved to be easier, faster, less buggy, - and I especially love being able to use them in offline mode when I'm in basements and areas that have bad reception. Please keep the good tools and lessons coming!

Great video. I just looked at my last 10 exteriors and I'm at $5.58/sq ft (only res repaints). I'm also running a 28% close rate on the year. I think my prices might be too high? My worry is I can't find subs who will work for so much less.

Home Depot stops carrying Perminizer😢. I painted my house and my shed in 6/24. Just now, I wanted that same paint for my sisters house but couldn’t find them on shelves anymore at my local HD
