@RumerHaven copy away! Quarterly, I leave the cards on display, and when they catch my eye, I check in with myself. Is there anything that speaks to these proposed energies? if so, how do I want to flow with it? I may journal about it, I may not. Any card pulls I do throughout those 12 weeks, I might reference the Quarter's oracle themes or the tarot's medicine, or I may not. It is quite gentle, and I think it allows my perception of my life to unfold instead of anxiously trying to get in front of it. And 4 check points is way easier than 8!! lol. x

Your practice sounds nothing but beautiful, gentle indeed, and I think that's where the true flow happens, the most meaningful and clear readings. As well as scrapping the traditional year-ahead spread, I just decided today that I'm not going to undertake any structured annual studies like I've done the last couple of years--not that those boxed me in a great deal, but it was still following a schedule rather than my natural rhythm, so I'm excited about the prospect of this loose-y goose-y year. ☺ Hope the gentle ebb and flow of your own check-ins and card pulls brings nothing but truth and peace of mind to you this year. 💚

@@RumerHaven I am already on chapter 6 of Journey of souls. This is a new area of study for me, so I’m finding it fascinating already. But just to share something personal with you, both my parents died last year. It’s been hard. But one of the things that happened after they died, was that I developed a terrifying fear of death after watching both my parents die unpleasant deaths. And as a 60-year-old woman, this fear of death feels very close. But the journey of souls is helping me see death in a different light. Which is exactly what I needed right now. It’s very healing! If you have any other recommendations of books or podcasts or channels that might enhance this area study for me, please let me know. And thank you again!

​@@megadele65 I am moved beyond words by this, Megan. I've struggled enough grieving for my dad that I cannot imagine losing both parents in the same year. And there are so many layers to the grief, aren't there, when it's not just learning to live with the loss but also processing the end-of-life experience after witnessing a loved one go through that, and then, yes, exactly, the existential contemplations of your own mortality. It just slices through in so many ways and is so much more complex than I'd ever imagined. So I found much solace in this book, too, and am just glad I let myself babble on about it if it could strike a chord with you as well. There's actually a sequel to it called Destiny of Souls, where he follows up in response to reader questions about the first book, requesting that he elaborate on certain points. So, instead of following the stages of the soul's journey, the second book is organized by topic, such as "Death, Grief, and Comfort" and "Soul Group Systems"--things he touches on in Journey of Souls but gives more anecdotes on. In any case, I also recently read Goodbye Hello by Adam Berry, who is a paranormal investigator (Ghost Hunters, Kindred Spirits) and shares what he's learned through his professional and personal experiences and others' (be they mediums or just ordinary people who receive signs and dream visitations, etc.) through the lens of grief and what the afterlife might have in store for us, and I found that to be a great comfort, too. Also, from a more medical standpoint (or rather, how it defies medical explanation), Death is But a Dream by Christopher Kerr is incredible--he's a hospice doctor who studied the end-of-life dreams and visions experienced by the vast majority of his patients (those who are lucid and not suffering dementia or hallucinations--they are perfectly present and coherent yet assert what they see is real, and it prepares and puts them at peace toward death). It's tremendously compelling, and there is also a documentary by the same name, I believe. I also found Life After Death with Tyler Henry on Netflix to also be quite healing. So, various observations from quite different angles (hypnotherapy, ghosthunting, hospice, mediumship), and yet they all overlap and support each other. That's off the top of my head, but if I recall anything else, I will let you know! In the meantime, I send hugs and healing your way. I am so, so gutted for your loss and hope you're hanging in okay--as well as giving yourself permission to NOT be okay because it's just...a lot. And that takes time and will never truly go away, right? We just learn to carry and honor it. 🤍

Anything I can do to support my own grief while also finding solace in the idea that there is life after death. Which is not a concept I have embraced before in my life. Both my parents suffered terribly from dementia. And take care of them the last eight years of their lives was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. And I will admit that I feel both guilt and relief now that they are gone. It’s a tricky dichotomy. Anyway, thank you so much for this wonderful exchange of thoughts and ideas.
