I've been playing since season of sanctuary and I also wish that they'd make the candle grind less repetitive, especially when you have to play for at least an hour or more every single day (without breaks) if you want to buy the newest cosmetics. It literally gives people burnout and it's why I haven't been able to touch the game for a few months now, even though I've actually spent some good money on the game. Surely there must be a way to add some sort of items/events/game modes to make this less repetitive?

ya the big thing is it shouldnt take hours to reach the candle limit. if sky wanted they could keep the limit but give extra candle boost so that way players still need to log on everyday but can actually spend time doin nuttin w friends afterward. seems like people either gota CR or hop off

I always wonder why they don’t lower the prices because MORE people would buy cosmetics. “Oh only €2, hmmm sure i can buy that” “i’ll buy this €2 cosmetic and skip out on a sweet treat this week” INSTEAD of a whole “omg i love that cosmetic, wtf it costs €15 thats a whole meal… for a tail cosmetic… a whole meal…” LIKE: only 1 person thats rich enough buys the cosmetic for €15 COMPARED TO 100 people that can afford a €2 cosmetic

I was on hiatus with sporadic booms of activity for a few days in Sky for, I guess, more than 1.5 years (btw I started playing in August, 2021) and recently deleted it. I love the OC that I created, I love the game, its lore and story, I love what it means to me, I appreciate everything that Sky:COTL brought me in terms of memories, people and many other things. But I found myself in a place where I couldn't afford cosmetics unless I do the same candle run every day and it took me at least an hour. It all felt not like a game anymore, but a job -- and with time, the small parts of free content became too dull for me and I didn't even want to spend candles and time on it. I love Sky and I didn't wanna quit at all, but I burnt out and I didn't enjoy it anymore. I felt like I HAD to play because it was a chore, not something I did for fun and for relaxation. I hope to return one day, although I'm shocked to hear in what way Sky continues to develop. I'll cherish my child of light that I created, but speaking of starting to play again for now... nah, sorry.

recently returned to sky, only to leave again when they removed the camera sharing ""bug"". now they're just set on removing QOL stuff, so that we... what? spend extra time playing?? it's not like they're losing profit because of faster candle runs- i don't freakin get it!

I bet most f2p do more math in sky than in school. Or it just me?

TGC should be making a note of the use of camera memories, shared space furniture clipping, and chibi clipping to add what the game really needs: Tunnel shortcuts for veteran players who have already completed the story content. _(Just as real-world walkways serve people best when they're built over "desire lines")_ *[If the grass is worn down from many feet, you don't erect a railing; you create a path there.]* [That's how Warframe got its current movement system, by learning from the playerbase's gravitation towards quality of life and efficiency, especially where it plainly enhanced the experience]

Seriously, $25 dollars for a single item, ONE, is fucking insane.

I would be a reasonable price if the cosmetics can be a game changer. The only game changing cosmetic they can come up is umbrella and fire source cosmetics like campfire and torch, they've been recycling the umbrella too much like is that the only idea they could come up?

I completely agree, but in a way i feel like they are trying to get the connection sky used to have back- theres always a ton of strangers not willing to help out anyone but them self or their friends these days. And im not saying this is everyone, but oh boy i see it and experience it ALL the time. Then again, even newer players, they dont know much about shared spaces or what not, so they wait on people to help them, which usually takes a million years because skys server system, SUCCSS RAAH. But other than the cash grab, that is the only other reason i see. So in conclusion, they MIGHT think, taking away shared space = more people helping eachother out *that are currently in the server with you*

I already have a demanding job that eats half of my day. I do not need another job that gives me nothing. Back to reading, ig. 🤷🏻

can we talk about you running through rocks in eden with 1 stripe of wings left? that was SCARY btw i've been playing for an year and i already saw the game changing in worse for several reasons...... tgc clearly doesn't care about the community's opinion and i guess they will never care. they could do a lot, but they just decide to ignore the bugs/glitches to add new iap stuff and (almost) always free stuff pretty ugly/irrelevant like hair pins and small things

I've been playing Sky for years and I've been noticing the decline of the core of sky. Not much, but enough to notice. Sky is a game of community, of helping and meeting new people and growing friendships. The biggest thing is the multiplayer doors. Sure, there have always been players who clip through the door but there were always people willing to help out. Now it feels like nobody waits or helps out for anybody. Why should they when you just need to use a shared space? or shared memory? Why bother coming back to help you when you dont have enough light? Just use the memory? Don't get me wrong I love the people who take the time to set up these things, they are doing it to help others but theres just not as much moment to moment helping anymore. AND THEN this gets worse with the prices of items and the lack of afk places. People are more focused collecting candles then they are spending time with strangers. I'm guilty of this too, I'm not rich in candles so I dont take as much time to sit and smell the roses. Then theres all the other stuff like unstable servers, two home spaces so you might not catch your friends when they log on and all the other stuff. I love Sky, play it every day and it's helped me deal with my social anxiety and even helped me make life long friends but with every good couple steps TGC make they take one massive step back.

I've always been anti TGC ever since the season of dream. A lot of people misunderstand people like me's issues with TGC is not about cosmetics, prices and what not. It's the blatant disrespect to their player base they show. They see something is widely appreciated and hyped? Boom, it's a paid item now. They don't send updates to the game's inbox despite it literally being for that. All their bug fixes are on their discord and websites, which not everyone might know of. The gameplay loop is grindy, lots of people end up exhausted from playing because there's no interesting gameplay loop present. Everything fun is dependent on strangers making it fun. They have been asked for accessibility settings for so long and haven't done anything until those sunglasses that change the screen! My issue personally with TGC is that they went from a genuinely well meaning company with a clear passion for game that connect people.. To a greedy predatory corporate that stopped listening.. And I also hate their ultimates system. I hate when new players ask how to get the UGs I wear and I can't tell them they can get it. It seriously feel wrong to tell people it's something they can't have because they are too late to the game and it genuinely upset me. It doesn't have it's place in the game, instead of bringing back season with extras cutscenes for previous season holder to enjoy and have a break from those constant seasonal grind, we get more and more seasons with more exclusivity. I get collabs not returning, but seasons made by TGC shouldn't have exclusive reward IMO with no chance of return. Sorry for the rant, I'm just. So vividly angry at TGC as a corporate and I miss when sky was enjoyable and not constantly a wallet grind.

My biggest complaint with sky is the heart and candle system, ive been playing for about a year and only have one Constellation fully done. I mean i do take breaks but only because of how quickly that game burns me out. It should not take me a full week of doing the daily light for me to get a set of wings. (Season of Aurora TS)

I'm actually used to the fact that most of the gaming stuff is always expensive for me, considering the situation in my country. I just taught myself not to get distracted by the inability to buy things that cost real money. . . But when I saw prices in SKY. . . The game which is supposed to be about COMMUNICATION AND RELAXATION. Damn, I just. . . Wh- WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? I can literally buy A WHOLE NEW GAME on Steam for the price of some NONEXISTENT OUTFIT. . . WHY?

sky cotl reminds me a lot of the sims 4. the game is taking all your money and giving back bugs.

Tbh as someone who had played Sky nonstop since July 2022, I dropped it cold turkey in August of 2024 and I have never felt more free. I still feel the urge to get on there because of FOMO, but then remember I don’t have candles and the motivation to get candles so I just leave it alone. I’m sort of just watching the dumpster fire from a distance now I suppose

Sky easily burns you out. The only thing you can actively do in the game is candle running, which is just the same thing over and over again and takes up a lot of energy. You can get around 20 candles a day with a lot of playing. The other only activities are interacting with people and playing instruments. There are not really any minigames that you can actually have fun with for long. So the games atmosphere and cosmetics clearly carry the entire game. So making it so hard to get candles quick, not letting you skip many cutscenes, restricting ways to get trough the game quicker in actions that require other people and making you wait years for cosmetics to come back makes you easily burnt out. Many sky quests aren’t actually fun, it‘s just „run to x place and press the interaction button“. A simple cape is expected to be at least 20$ and it even gets more expensive in other countries. Often they justified their prices by adding candles (even tho we clearly just want the cape) but nowadays they rarely even do this anymore. They actively make the most lame items free and everything else iap or season pass. And yeah obviously they need to get money but this happens every time. Bugs and issues that have been in the game for years get ignored. My wifi is completely fine but servers freak out the moment 8 people (max) are in it which shouldn’t happen. Dark plants may take multiple attempts to even burn at all. Doors take ages to open despite my candle clearly being on it. Yet bugs that actively benefit players get fixed much quicker. They need to get their priorities straight. The game is repetitive and overpriced aswell as hypocritical considering their entire theme is nature, friendship and social issues, even collabing with AURORA who has a song saying "you can not eat money if the rivers are poisoned". All I'm seeing at this point is operational greed with no care for the communities opinion.

The removal of shared spaces at grammas and the features of memories that let us collect light easier is honestly a deal breaker for me, I'm disabled (mainly having trouble moving my whole arms because of the meds I have to take and everything I do feels like it has a 5 sec delay) so I can't candle run like everyone else, because of that I also don't have friends to help me with that. TGC was all about inclusivity etc. till it now isn't. Also the server issues are just straight up horrid, how did it go from communication errors to everyone rubberbanding, me falling under the ground when I go into another room and wax being collected but not ending up counting and disappearing??? Seriously?

Nobody hates Sky more than its own community lol

Sky is so tiring at this point. Everything's so expensive, from seasons,to events, to IAPS, you have to grind at least 1 hour a day if you want to get a decent amount of candles, on top of that, if you want to spend time with your friends it might take longer. Everything's so repetitive, and it becomes monotonous after a while because there is no new way of collecting candles. We spend so much times at gates, especially at the 8 player gate in prairie, glitches arent fixed, unless its an afk or a glitch that offers you candles, they seem so focused to make candle grinding as boring and as long as possible. It is true that no one forces you to buy cosmetics, and it doesn't necessarily affect your gameplay, but i feel there is nuance to that. There are cosmetics in the game that can give you a different experience, for example, the cape that can get you to the office, or Aurora's and Little Prince's capes. The whole point of sky is not only to make friends, but it's a customization game, and having to pay so much effort into getting cosmetics, hinders other aspects and makes the game not enjoyable

I started sky in October and loved it at first. But everything pushes you to get cosmetics, so I joined a discord and did candle running. Until I realize that was all I was doing. I wasn’t play sky I was grinding for pieces of an outfit. I broke down sky pricing and it was insane and I stopped playing very quickly. It’s not a game that wants you to explore, relax, make friends. It wants you to grind endlessly and spend money.

I used to love this game so much but stopped playing it for this exact reason, everything is sooo expensive and it just stopped being enjoyable because of the amount of grinding you have to do to get ONE item. I really wish this game existed without all the purchases tbh

This game isn't fun anymore, it's just constant grinding that's giving me burnout, so much work for so little candle light payoff. They've become insanely money hungry. Games are supposed to be FUN. But this game has become a chore.

If TGC really wanted to promote "community" by getting rid of the shared space glitches, then they should also get rid of the chibi fall glitch.

I used to play this game last year during i think the season of Aurora, i quit it for a while out of depression around november last year i think I returned to it during july this year, and i quit again a week or two ago, the game just became a chore, i dont have freinds that play it, i cant play it with my partner because of our different timezones and for other reasons Mind u, i use cheats, i dont candle run, and yet i got burnt out, the game has nothing to offer me anymore, cosmetics arent enough to keep me even if i can cheat and wear what i want (no one can see the outfits i get thro hacks alas) the game is just not fun anymore it feels like a big fuck you to my face

I read a FAQ with them answering a bunch of questions about the economy and there was a big focus on "we never meant for this to happen! 😢" when addressing people spending so much time on candle runs. They wanted there to be more of a social focus so they removed any potential for passive farming. It seemed like they put prices up to make players earn candles LONG TERM not grind short term. To that i say, EITHER STOP MAKING ITEMS SO TIME SENSITIVE, OR MAKE IT CHEAPER. YOU ARE CULTIVATING YOUR ENTIRE GAME ON FOMO, WHETHER ITS ON PURPOSE OR NOT. THE PRICES ARE FUCKING OUTRAGEOUS AND ITS TOO HARD FOR PLAYERS TO CATCH UP TO INFLATION.

your humor is impeccable. i agree with all of this as someone who is addicted to this game but hates so much of it (lol). joined during Abyss and currently have been playing nearly everyday for a year straight. in the past 6 months i first saw friends leave because of rocket being nerfed so rip OOBs. now they are making candle running more and more miserable, so more friends are leaving the game or just being so much more inactive.

i havent played sky in like 2 years and i recently came back. so much money and bugs i cant barely get back jnto it

I have given feedback about the broom on more than one occasion about making that thing an IAP, as well as one that costs roughly as much as a darn season pass. I would be annoyed seeing a player riding the broom and bragging about it. But am more so annoyed at TGC for enabling people who make fun of others who cannot afford these items. You hit the nail on the head that it is the toxicity being the issue.

God, I remember this one time I played and that dreaded flashbang ahh bloom was gone. It actually made the game so much more playable. Like, genuinely, could see things and not have them blinding white in your face when you're in a dark room. And then it turns out it was a visual bug and they returned it 😭 I really hope TGC works on their act because yeah, "People who love sky, but TGC is making it hard to" is so real.
