Farewell PELLY, Tony's TEARS, Trust tales, TRANSFER DRAMA deep dive & your BIG QUESTIONS answered!
Kev, James and Tony are back for the second part of the February deep dive and in this part of the podcast the boys take some time to reflect on the players who have left the club in the January transfer window, particularly those who departed on deadline day.
The lads then look at whether the squad is good enough to remain in the Championship and whether they are more confident of that happening in light of the January business before some of your comments are reflected on and discussed.
The podcast concludes with a reflection on Tony’s time as Trust chairman after he broke the news that he was standing down from the position last weekend. It's a tear-jerker!
All of this and much more on the longest-running, award-winning Luton Town podcast!
In this episode, you can jump straight to the following sections:

The Luton Town Supporters' Trust was created, and initially named Trust in Luton, in 2003 to help force out unpopular former owner John Gurney.
Current club chief executive Gary Sweet was part of the group that effectively forced the club into administration and out of Mr Gurney's control, for a new consortium to take over, headed up by Bill Tomlins.
Another change of ownership again brought problems and administration followed again in 2007, until the club was eventually bought out by the fan-led 2020 consortium, headed up by Sweet, which has now helped steer the history-making Hatters from the non-league to the Premier League.
The Supporters' Trust is a democratic, non-profit organisation run by fans for fans. The purpose of a Trust is to help fans to join together and strengthen their influence over the way Luton Town Football Club is run, and to improve the links between their club and the community it serves.
In a way, we’re like a union, believing that many voices are stronger than one and that the best way to influence the club is to represent many fans, not just ourselves.

I was sick too when I heard about Pelly. Thought they could’ve given him until the end of the season. And Edwards could’ve given him that penalty in the Prem. Pelly is unique…hope at his testimonial it’s announced he will be marked in some way at PC.

Tom Holmes was very hit and miss. He had two or three really good games and obviously some poor ones. I think he's young enough to go again. I prefer him to Mengi- who maybe a better footballer, but this season looked like he can't be asked half the time.

Least improvement seems to have been made where it’s needed most, across the back; but midfield and the right flank look potentially stronger so we might not have to rely on Alfie to make all our chances.

Great Pod. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. On paper the side starting this season should be doing a lot better and RE should have been more flexible. Few, including the board, could have predicted the current situation. But incoming players all potentially good. I like the look of Alli- a player who will run into the box at defenders and get a shot off or possibly draw a foul. The other signings look good too. Lasse looks like one for the future, as stated. Matt just needs to get the old guard performing as they should, and with the reinforcements, up the table they go.

Getting new players can be initially exciting, then it can fall flat. I thought Jacob Brown would be a goal machine, he is crap. I though Hashi would be exciting, he is clumsy. Also, why didn't Adebayo go to West Brom, because sadly, he is crap now - let's not sugar coat it. Let's see what happens, proof is in the pudding.

Good video - Kone is with a very small agent with little experience or key players on their books so, I think that was the main reason they were mucking us about. I think NORDÅS is more of an animal than Elijah and probably more like Peter Crouch which, is great news.

Fair play to the board, they said they would try to be aggressive and they were. Can't help thinking if they'd been a little more active in the summer then we wouldn't have needed to panic buy now.

Good video - I have been a LTFC supporter since 1967 and I still find it difficult to accept Pelly as a legend more than other players we have had that I think are legends too. I think we should show Pelly some appreciation maybe the first game to be played in the new stadium should be his testomonial? but in my time supporting LTFC I think no one can beat Ricky Hill. He was with Luton for 13 Years. Made 499 appearances and scored 54 goals. Pelly was with Luton for 11 years, 353 appearances and 23 goals. Ricky also achieved 3 England caps. He won the Luton player of the year in 1981 and 1982 and helped Luton get to the old Division 1. Having watched both Ricky and Pelly play then Ricky is by far the better player. Ok Pelly may be a legend of the last 10 years but there are others maybe more worthy of a mention such as David Preece, Brian Stein, Mal Donaghy. I would like to see a statue at the new Stadium of Ricky, Brian, David, Mal and Big Mick together (like the famous statue at Man United) based on the 1988 League Cup Final Win. Sorry James but these are my thoughts.

    • @lutontownsupporterstrust

It's not a competition. We didn't say Pelly is the best player, simply that he's a legend because of his and the team's history-making exploits.

Some very interesting views on who may come/go from the club. I'd be right by Jimbo's side in the car park to defend the legend that is Pelly Ruddock. It will be a sad day when he departs and personally, I'd rank it up there when Foster left in 1989 and I was devasted. He was my Luton hero back then. Let's hope the club can keep Pelly at the club but not as a player, or unregistered until the summer as he could become a great role model for our academy sides. Kone is an interesting one. He is exactly what we need right now, a proven goal scorer who appears to be banging them in for fun. It's always a sad time when saying goodbye to players but needs must in todays world and right now, we need to stay up and those players who cannot, have not or will not contribute, need to be on the first bus out the door. COYH! I'm checking the LTFC site often for any news!

Watching on TV it didn't look like there was any contact for the penalty. They only showed one replay and it looks like he's only taken the ball (although even that was hard to spot in real time). Ref was basically blowing as the challenge was made, so it's the usual standard of Championship reffing. Would be interested to see other angles (and the fact they weren't shown makes me syspect that it's another poor call).

I watched the incident on TH-cam and tried to stop start it, it's difficult to see properly because like you say it was only shown from one angle and was a distance away. From what I saw, Lamine got the ball and because he nudged it slightest forward, their player topped/ scuffed the shot. when their player saw it blocked, he fell down like a sack of spuds. was no way a penalty, not surprised Lamine contested it because he did get the ball.

Lack of goals from open play was going to have to force a midfield change anyway.
