Tayda Electronics Germanium Fuzz Face | Review & Demo | DIY Guitar Pedals
Hello everybody and welcome back to the channel!
This video will review the Tayda Electronics Fuzz Face DIY PCB. If you know fuzz, you are for sure familiar with the fuzz face. A simple shunt-series feedback circuit that has been used countless times as the basis for many fuzz pedals today. Tayda's PCB gives you the layout for the original circuit and allows you to build it how you please. NPN, PNP, silicon, germanium it can all be done here. The board also gives you an internal bias trimmer and an easy to reach probe point for quick calibration. Outer knobs are pretty simple with just Volume and Fuzz. This video will demo my latest build with 2N1308 NPN Germanium diodes. Enjoy!
You can get your Tayda Electronics Fuzz Face PCB here:

Recording Your Acoustic Guitar | SM57 vs. AT2020 vs. Loudbox Mini
มุมมอง 11K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey Everybody! I'm changing it up this week! No deep dive into pedals or amps and no guitar mods. This week I'm going to try to answer the question - "Which of my recording methods is best for acoustic guitar?". The options compared are a Shure SM57 dynamic microphone, an Audio-Technica AT2020 condenser microphone, and using the XLR output from my Fishman Loudbox Mini. I run through flatpicking...
Jazzmaster Control Mods | 4-Way Switching, 250k Pots, 33nF Cap | DIY Guitars
มุมมอง 7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey folks, This week I am changing up the control system on my Jazzmaster. I moving to a simple 4-way switch that adds in the series connection for the bridge and neck pickups. I am also swapping out my 500K pots for 250k to darken the signal up and moving to a 330uF tone cap. I make a couple other changes as well, such as a new pickguard, new spring-loaded pickup foam, and a treble bleed circu...

Three exterior knobs give you control of the feedback (repe...
Treble Bleed and Greasebucket | Two tone mods for your guitar | DIY Guitars
มุมมอง 24K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This week's video looks at the effects of the treble bleed and greasebucket tone mods for your guitar wiring. I step through simulations using the standard wiring, and the two mod circuits. Models are based on a vintage tele pickup (think Fender NoCasters). Simulations are completed in CircuitLab, with some plots also shown in Excel. Note In the simulations I incorrectly labeled the Vin (IN) on...
Buffers...the most boring pedal on your board? | DIY Guitar Pedals

Hey Folks, This week we look at the most boring pedal on the board. A buffer. Yep, a buffer. Nothing fancy this week...or is there? This video will take you through the purpose of a buffer, explain in detail what it does to your signal, and maybe make you think you actually need one. WARNING Schematics and math appear in this video. #pougnetpedals #diyguitarpedals

Awesome! Thanks
Pretty awesome video, but I don’t see how you could possibly have a boost in bass with only passive components?
Very nice explanation, thanks for the video bro
Fantastic video! Thanks for the analysis!
A tubescreamer, rat, big muff, and similar can be built for about $5 - $10 worth of parts, NOT counting the enclosure and shipping costs. If you're a cheapskate like me, you can use altoids tins or $1.25 cookie tins from the dollar stores for enclosures.😊
Very impressive work. Stellar job man! Thank you for this!
Thanks for the Q filter explanation. Finally it makes sense to me haha
how to assemble a pedal kit?
Exactly what I was searching for! Thank you so much for sharing this 🙏
Nice build! How did you adjust the bridge to match the 9.5" radius? Did you lower the outter saddles or raised the middle ones? And then you could get proper low action?
... Cape Breton?
IMO, they both sound horrible on the fingerpicking--way too boomy. It sounds like you placed the mics right in front of the sound hole. It hurts my ears to listen to.
I've fallen down a rabbit hole... Send help! Great video! It's exactly what I was looking for!
Awesome video great info🤘
maybe this is a silly question but can a busted LED prevent the whole pedal from working? Trying to fix a tuner pedal my friend got me, and it does seem like at least one of the three LEDs is busted, but could that be why the whole pedal isnt workng? or does a broken LED only affect the broken LED
Treble bleed was pretty much standard in 50s wiring. It fell out of favour when people started using amp distortion and gain. A lot of different set-ups came into use with bi-amping, stomp boxes and gain-stage amps of fairly limited flexibility by today's standards. The trade off was losing treble when backing off the volume - mud. Because a treble bleed really works well only when you have a solid go-to set up. Taking a treble-bleed guitar elsewhere often means that backing off the volume doesn't "clean up" as you expect because the high end of the signal is still passing to the amp and driving it. It's a trade-off that means backing-off to allow the singing doesn't work at all - you're still in those frequencies that compete with a voice and it's dirty too. As well, a treble bleed is often tuned to conserve the same sound at any volume. Changing the values (impedance) with a different set up disturbs that tuning. So....there's work to do to find the right circuit/values for your rig and it will work until you plug your guitar into something else and it will behave differently. That's not a problem for the player - most of us use one favourite set up - but for the maker supplying a multiplicity, it's a bit of a "ball game". That's why the treble bleed went out of fashion in the 60s.
Thanks for this video I wasn't sure where to startl now I'm already printing design.
How many coats did you use?
Beautiful guitar and great job!
Sm57 is great! 👍🏼
I didn't see a free version. It costs 9.99. It is worth it and fairly easy to learn.
This is just what I was looking for when my kit pedal didn’t work. Helped me isolate a short in my switch wires. Was going to lose my mind without a systematic way to troubleshoot. Thanks!
sounds fantastic! appreciate the clean tones demo on the 5F11, hard to come by. many cheers
Awesome video will definitely keep you from randomly checking everything to a more focused approach to find the problem sooner👍👍
is this John Prine - How Lucky?
Wow the difference on the pau ferro is awesome. It really makes the grain pop. i just bought some of this and excited to try it out.
Thanks for the turtorial, I want to build a ibanez black noise clone cause I can't find that shit enywhere only clone board so I have no otjer choice
I don't recommend tune o matic style bridges for this type of guitar, the bridge is supposed to move back and forth when you use the tremolo, instead i recommend shimming the neck at an angle and raising the bridge for a better break angle with more tension
Does pedalpcb includes electronic parts when you buy Pcb from them?
nice vid , but it's pronounced "dee cal/decal" , some are taking the piss saying deckles, let the haters hate , it's their problem.
Thanks for this
Well done you've made a great job!!!!
Are Canadians even real? Asking for a friend.
I know this is a long shot but... I'm having the same problem with the distortion on my amp (same model). Do you remember which 2 diodes you replaced to get the distortion back? Any help would be appreciated.
Super impressive
Doing my first build now . I’ve had the stuff for three years plus . Now I make the time’ love your channel ❤.
Wonderful
Man I’m so impressed with your channel.
Cool ❤
Beautiful tones . Great video
Very cool channel . Glad to find you ❤.
But noise is good
NICE 👍
Great video, pretty inspiring. That would be interesting to share the process you follow to print your design, they are really well made 👌
Great video, proving that most Internet "experts" have things either totally wrong, or backwards. Maybe you have done this already, but I would love to see these charts/graphs with different value capacitors on the tone controls. Similarly, I'd love to see charts that graphically illustrate the frequency spectrum & power output of single coil pickups & humbuckers as the number of "turns" of coil wire increases...and as multiple coils are connected in a series vs parallel, or in phase vs out of phase! I would think this is possible, since we can measure the resistance and inductance (&, effectively, amperage, voltage "wattage" output)of different pickups
You mentioned a review video of this build as a cliffhanger ending, which is cheesy by itself, but you also didn't put a link to it for the folks that just invested 27minutes into getting to the point of the video where you mention it.
mentioned PCB sources: PedalPCB Aion FX Rullywow
That isn't flux it's solder, it might have flux mentioned somewhere on the package if it's rosin core, basically some flux imbedded in it so it can be used with our with separate external flux, but that isn't flux which generally comes in liquid or paste forms.
I was wondering what I was doing wrong with the pots, turns out the ones I got have too short of legs and I'll have to add a bunch of jumpers, kinda unfortunate. Thanks for the video
Hi 🎸 Please let me know if the dark lines in the wood of the Pau Ferro fingerboard do not give the impression that the wood is cracking in this place? I'm asking, I'm considering buying (discount) a Fender MIM with a Pau Ferro fingerboard with a very dark line running through it. It looks a bit strange, is it a defect? Regards, nice movie. Andrzej 🇵🇱✊
No, it’s not a defect, it’s the natural surface of the wood. I think it looks good 👍🏻
