    Interesting pack. I hadn't seen it before. One thing I found for overnight or longer trips is that a slightly heavier pack with a good hip belt is more comfortable for me than a lighter pack without a good hip belt.

    Hi! Do ypu think it is necessary to bring an axe and shoe spikes? Also, do you think a 30 liter bag would be enough? Also may I know where in Shinjuku you bought the bag? Thanks!

    • @AlainStewart
      @AlainStewart 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi. Yes, if you're going to be climbing to any peaks while there is snow, I recommend crampons and an axe. With that said, I did manage to climb Chougatake in mid-Spring with microspikes however I don't think Chougatake is as steep or as high as the other peaks. 30 litre bag will do if you're staying in huts. I got my bag from a brand called Yamatomichi from the Kyoto store. I believe they sell to other distributors in Tokyo. Best of luck

    • @AlainStewart
      @AlainStewart 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can hike up with a guide. Can’t say how visible the track is when there’s no snow, but should be. There are normally tags on trees to indicate the track. Don’t need a guide, but I recommend doing some practice hikes if you’re new to this.

    • @AlainStewart

      All the info I got was from online, but my conclusion is that it will depend on you, with the exception of the winter season when the huts are closed. If just hiking around the Azusa river, I believe any time is suitable, but if you want to climb to the peaks and don't have the alpine gear or experience, then summer/Autumn (July to Nov) would be the safer season when all the snow has melted and you get more daylight.

    Hi Alain. Great content! Thanks for sharing! How come you stopped using your Macpac Pulsar Plus Jacket? I use the Pulsar (not plus) and I've taken it everywhere around the world, and I'm now on my second Pulsar jacket. Is the Pulsar Plus toasty and warm in any Winter situation? (The specs make it sound like it's even warmer than the Rab Generator Alpine, and warmer than the Arc'teryx Nuclei SV which are the warmest synthetic each of those companies have.)

    • @AlainStewart
      @AlainStewart 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Adam. Actually, I’m still using my pulsar plus for a number of years now - it’s one of my favourite jackets. Not the best for sitting around camp though (so I bring a down jacket too), but it’s good for when you’re on the move - not too hot and keeps out the chill.

    Your green screen shows an Aussie park, but the elevator music gives your location away. Is it safe to cook in an urban elevator and how do you manage the passengers safety? PS The anodised aluminium pots may give you Alzheimers but if you're mountain climbing you probably don't need to worry about that.
