มุมมอง 7004 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is an instructional video on how I tie a Hawg Leg fly. I am very new to this pattern but in my research I could not find a video on how to tie it so I decided to make my own based on my limited knowledge. I had help from a new friend, Eric Spicer with Salt Water Edge. I also took some inspiration from Drew Chicone. So, keep in mind there is likely a better way to tie these and I am very in...

How to tie a Split-Wing Paddy Francis
มุมมอง 1.4K11 หลายเดือนก่อน

How to Tie an Upside-Down Blue Charm
มุมมอง 841ปีที่แล้ว
This is an instructional video on how I tie an Upside-down Blue Charm. There are anglers I know that believe by tying this pattern upside-down, it gives the fly a different swim on a swing through a pool. I can't wait to try it it! I hope you enjoy the video
How to Tie a Hairy Mary Fly
มุมมอง 1.8Kปีที่แล้ว
This is an instructional video on how I tie a Hairy Mary Fly for Atlantic Salmon. While this pattern shares a lot of similarities with the Blue Char, has become an essential pattern for my fly box. The red squirrel wing is just different enough sometimes to tempt a fussy fish. I hope you enjoy!!

How to Tie a Red Francis Fly
มุมมอง 2.5Kปีที่แล้ว
This is an instructional video on how I tie a Red Francis Salmon Fly. This is another one of those patterns that is not fished as much as it should be in Atlantic Canada in my opinion, or maybe it is and no one is mentioning it ;). I hope you enjoy the video!!!

@@ckr1011 i will play with my set up!
Heh Pal my Facebook went to crap some time ago and I lost most of my friends. On my way to Newfie on Sunday….staying on the west coast…like to meet up.
Nice tly

Beautiful simply beautiful
@@johndurfee5925 well thank you for the kind words
Is the red wrap below the thorax represent a hot spot
@@johndurfee5925 i suppose it could be? However we rarely refer to hot spots on the hair wing salmon flies.
To prepare pheasant crest I do the following: 1) Pluck feathers 2) Boil a pot of water 3) Remove pot from heat 4) Place feathers in hot water 5) Stick feathers on neck of wine bottle to dry (lay straight) 6) Remove feathers
@@nicholasbaker8158 great idea!! Thanks for sharing the tip!!!
Great fly
Thanks George
That is an awesome fleye thanks for sharing it

Great looking fly m8
Is the shape that is the difference between a machine and a bomber??
@@sigurdurmarolafsson4183 a bomber typically has a tail like a green machine but also a front wing. Bombers are meant to be dead drifted primarily where as a green machine is primarily fished on a swing and sub surface.
What scissors are you using?
That is the curved blade scissors from SHOR Fishing
Great job
@@SheldonGordon-r5i thank you
Do you use a lighter I learned that technique and it creates a more uniform body . Even my white bombers burn and scrape .
I do. I have a video on this channel showing how i do it ;)
Where can I get these materials? Would love to tie this!
Any fly shop on the east coast will have these materials. They are all fairly common for Atlantic Salmon.
@newfoundlandflyfisher awesome thank you! im in nova scotia so I should be able to track some down! Love the videos man best fly tier around!!
@@jackhill1377 i appreciate dude thanks
Just the video I was looking for as I get myself worked up to taking my first shot at tying a proper fly aimed at a striper. I can do that! (Maybe not so pretty or as fast, but, hey, the fish won't know that.) Thanks!
thanks.........
You’re most welcome

This dry fly hackle is wrapped backwards, then forwards thru the first turns. Interesting! 👍🏻
Stripping half your dry fly hackle, then tying it in by the tip? That's a new one! 👍🏻
Nice video Chris. Have been watching some of your videos lately and they are excellent. Keep it up.
Thank you my friend! I appreciate the kind words
Hey Chris...neighbours are heading to the west coast/big falls towards the end of the month. Besides the Orange Bomber, White-wing Blue Charm, and the Blundertaker, what other flies would you recommend?
Those are going to cover most of your needs. But a green machine is always good (both normal and a CBC style for low water). I would also have paddy francis. A dark wing (moose) option is smart to bring too.
@@newfoundlandflyfisher Thanks, much appreciated
Not bad for a little feller from Nova Scotia. From catching poachers to catching salmon you've done alright. Some great tips here and really like the fact you didn't edit the mishaps. Like Bob Ross always said..."There are no mistakes, just happy little accidents."
Thanks man! Appreciate it
@@newfoundlandflyfisher Just finished watching your Orange Bomber 2.0 video...again great tips and I see areas where I can improve on my flies. Fabulous job...look forward to seeing and learning more.
@@NLwoodsman one of the most attractive aspects of tying for me is that I will be learning the craft until the day I die.
need to get that logo in the intro on a hat
Thanks Mark! Not sure how bad it will look showing up to the river wearing my own merchandise🤔 hahaha
Very nice tie
Thank you!
Chris, glad to see you again! Great job, buddy !
Thanks dude!!! I wish i had more time to do it but unfortunately i do not
Another wonderful tie. Makes me want to get my deer hair out and tie some
Thank you! No time like the present :)
Looks great man!
Thank you
how do you make them so fast? It takes me the length of the video just to tie on my first couple clumps of deer
I have just tied a lot. It is muscle memory at this point hahaha
@@newfoundlandflyfisher do curved scissors help?
@@cordelllush8133 yes a little bit. But I’m ok with using a straight, fine blade scissor too.
Great looking bug 👍 it’s been a long winter ❄️ hope all your snow and ice is gone . Cheers 🍻
We did not have much this winter. Im in sunny Cuba now for a week so im good :)
Nice! 👍 Thanks.
You’re welcome!! Thanks for the support
Great job Chris. Not too wobbly, not too shabby. Thanks.
Super great job again Chris. Thanks.
Thanks Ken
Chris, great to see you again, its been a while. I will check abd see if I missed any. Oh by the way fantastic job. Thanks buddy.
Look awesome headed to mckenzie this august you ever sell any?
No time to tie commercially these days, sorry
Nice one thanks
Perfect video Chris on showing the process of spinning and clipping deer hair. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Gary! This is just how I do it. Everyone is different in one way or another. As long as they float and they get a look here and there is all that counts ;)
Great video buddy ,you’re a very talented Tyer ! Thanks for sharing all the best
Thank you kindly Scott. It means a lot! Thanks for watching my friend!
Rewatched. Such a great review - and I still love my jacket :-) BTW during some trips to your wonderful New Foundland I met the nicest people I have ever met

Ah man you and your darn it all perfect bombers that make mine look like I just started tying...LOL Great video and tie as always pal. Keep them coming!
Thanks, that was awesome 👌 Bombers are fun to tie. So is Fran Betters' Ausable Bomber. No deer hair, but similar.
Im not familiar with the pattern. I agree they are def fun to tie
