Brother im loving your videos. Far more helpful than the ones from the actual class if I dare say so. Metal finishing is my favorite thing to do, that beautiful mirror finish i can do my out of regs hair in is always the goal. Finishing the last two weeks of FTT 210 right now and can't wait to get this rifle finished and fire it for the first time. I love the fact that they provided this rifle, paid for by Army TA. Ive always wanted a BP percussion cap rifle, but never could justify buying one with my own money lol. Even better getting to build it myself!

What model is the muzzle loader? Or what's the name of it?

So do you have to buy your own stuff to work on it, I’m sorry if this sounds stupid but, like I saw your kydax lab video, I’ve been considering doing FTT and I’m just financially challenged, I know that means maybe I shouldn’t even think about the class but I can afford that just I’m not sure about buying a bunch more supplies

You need to buy certain tools the school doesn't provide. I just bought a drill press to help with a class, you can use a regular drill but a press is definitely better because it'll make the job that much easier.
The school should provide a list of tools you'll need to buy yourself, I'm a current student, and I don't think they have a list of tools you need yourself.

How does it feel? I have the really nice shine like yours - but to the touch - it doesn't feel nearly as smooth as it should -- is there anyway I can polish it down to get the smooth feel but not lose my shine?

get some high grit sand paper 600 or better or use 0000 steel wool and buff it and then add more layers of true oil. keep doing this till you achieve that perfect smoothness.
