ALPINE LOOP SCENIC BYWAY DRIVE | AMAZING DRIVE WITH TALLEST WATERFALL IN UTAH
In this video we are out in Utah taking you to see one of the best drives in Utah. This would be the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway between Provo and Lehi Utah. This drive is known for some gorgeous scenery and an amazing drive through some thick wooded areas along the 27 mile byway.
We start at Pine Hollow trail head and start heading from North to South. This outlook at Pine Hollow allows for a good rest stop as well as some great views of the mountains and the valleys in the area. We then headed south making a couple of stops along the way to take in everything that the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway has to offer.
The key is to take those stops when feasible and safe to take in the scenery in the area. We were hoping for some more fall colors ,but we were just a couple weeks too early. But still provided some great views and some wonderful yellow a reds along the way.
We ended up having to bypass the famous Sundance Resort as there was no parking available and we were running low on time, but would we worth a stop if you would like to ride the tram up Sunace to get some spectacular views.
We also ended up checking out the tallest waterfall in Utah as well after the Alpine drive. Bridal Veil Falls is over 600 feet tall and has some of the easiest access of any waterfall we have ever seen. It feeds into the Provo River , where some famous movies have been filmed . Just a short walk from the parking lot on flat ground gets you to this impressive waterfall and crystal clear water in its holding pond area. It used to have the worlds steepest tram ride ,but in the 1990’s is got destroyed by an avalanche and was never repaired. This is a must stop if you are doing the Alpine drive from Either direction.

You mentioned a leveling kit? Where did you get it? I have been looking for one for this model for awhile. Thanks
@@kwhitney2790 the leveling is built into the legs with spinning the legs you can adjust the pitches of the grill. Comes with the grill.
Great Video Thank you, has to be one of the best whole house lithium upgrade documentation video !! Nice Job Happy Camping 😊
Thank you! I cant wait to get through the rest of the winter and start the 2025 season!!!
We also can’t wait. Riverbend is a good place to, especially if you like at river access. Good luck with your camping season.
This drive will for sure be best in fall with all the color changes. Bridal Veil falls is quite a site to see !!
The more of these camping videos i watch the more disgusted i get with the manufacturers. Ive been looking at smaller campers lately. theres is the company that trying to sale plywood box with some sort of bedliner material on it for 2000 dollars an empty box these teardrops are way overpriced there anywhere from 5 grand to over ten grand and a lot of them arent quality units built to last so its for that reason ive decided that building my own camper is the route im taking so that i can design it the way i want it
What was the outside temperature while you were camping? Thanks for the real life testing!
The temps during the day were in the mid 70's during this trip. Thanks for the great question and checking out the video.
What a great real world test! Very informative. I wonder how much propane would be used in a propane fridge. I have a new trailer with 400w of solar and 200Ahr of lithium batteries and here in Arizona we get plenty of sun and have not had a problem. But in other parts of the country with more clouds/trees, it could be a different story. I think a generator would be a great idea for a backup.
When we had a propane fridge in our last trailer we could almost got a whole camping season on 1 set of 30lb bottles . That’s like 30-40 nights a year. So cost wise for the consumer is cheaper for a propane fridge. Arizona is prime for great solar , and as you said like up here in the northwest we have to fight a bit harder for good solar. Looks like your setup should do fine in good conditions. We did a test in another video with good solar and our 390 watts could keep up with the 12v fridge. Thanks for the great comment !
@@UniqueAdventurez Thanks for this update and reply. Very helpful and useful info.
Lot of walking at this resort not to mention that hill when your coming back from downtown.
For sure a fair amount of walking, greatful for elevators between the upper and lower resterauts / pools. And that walk from the marina was no joke, really steep. If needed we did see people just getting cab rides right up to the front door. Great points !!!
We appreciate your video immensely. I dislike pulling the trailer into places without knowing what it's like.
@@joewickie2376 especially into these types of campgrounds where there really is no resources to give you an idea of what can fit. Glad it helped you out. It’s a great spot.
I was debating on keeping the GoPower in my new Micro Minnie to save a bit of cash on the power system buildout, guess I'll be swapping it out now. Thanks for the video!
Hopefully not everyone will have the same issues we did. But the Victron is far superior in every way. You won’t regret it !
Are to dry camping? I think there's only 4 spots with power there. none seem to be on the shore side.
That is correct, all the shore sites are dry camping. But they do have some amazing views
Do not buy this piece of shit generator
Have been a "black band" member here for 6 years....great video overall. Tortugas is by the far the best place to eat for ambience and selection. We always order everything on the menu and share with our group of friends. The Whale Bar is also a must go to at night...great views. One good tip....when you are at pool side, tip the waiters/waitresses early and ask them to keep checking with your group for drinks and food. We have made friends with the staff (who are all really nice) and it makes for a much more fun and relaxing experience. Have fun!
Tortuga as soo good.... We also did a top resteraunt review as well and Tortuga Bay was our hands down #1 spot to eat. The whale bar had a good vibe as well. This resort was really good. And yes for sure to tip the wait staff by the pool. We had some great service every day by the pool area. Thanks for the great comment !!!!
@@UniqueAdventurez - Very welcome.....another good tip was to bring $2 bills... we used them for tips all over the resort....staff loved it.
Made smash burgers on the Texas coast last night
Smash bugers are always a camping favorite , especially on the blackstone.
Good review. If I’m looking to try to find a sine here this would be helpful
It's a interesting campground and not all sites are equal, we love giving that site by site experience that I think is necessary at this campground. Thanks as always !!!!
tent camped here in site #13 and loved it. Great, inexpensive campground.
Glad to hear you had a great time, site 13 is a great spot! Can’t really go wrong at Big Pines. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Love the video. We stayed in site 50 last summer. Great big site only problem we had was a lot of people walking through our camp site. The site is next to trailhead. But we love FT Worden.
Yeah that site is a great site, but people do cut through there a bit. Pitfalls of being close to the trailhead. Fort Worden is such an amazing state park. Thank you for sharing your experience.
That looks like ice cream.
Kinda is like a super blizzard , but they advertise as a really thick milkshake. Still amazing regardless .
Hands down the best shake ever. Nobody does it like Iceberg in Salt Lake City Utah !!
$399 on ebay
never thought of looking on ebay. Hopefully shipping and fees aren't too bad.
I posted this below in response to someone also, but do have a question at the bottom of my comment. We had 2 AGM batteries and unfortunately one day we let them drain too low....they were bad after that, had to replace them. We had them one year. I'm going Lithium and doing it soon. We have a 33' fifth wheel with a 10 cu 12v/110v fridge. We have two lead acid batteries, an inverter for traveling time. We're lucky if we get 6 hours. Like you we don't run much, just the fridge, water pump, stabilizer jacks, slides (3), and occasionally charge our phones. I'm thinking either 2 280ah lithium or 4 100ah lithium with at least 600w of panels on top. We're in the desert and get tons of sun. Is there a reason someone would go with 100ah Lithium over 280ah Lithium or is it as simple as amp hours?
Sorry about your AGM Batteries, that stinks. As for your question and setup listed it really depends on what your fridge draws. Ours is 70-90 ah a day. So personally we setup our system around worse case scenario for a weekend out, which without solar it barely gets the job done. I think you are on the right track with 400+ ah of battery. We also did a test with solar as well in another video and our 380 watts can keep up with the fridge with good conditions. We have also since added 200 more Ah of lithium for a total of 400 ah now and love having the extra power on our weekend trips. As for your specific question regarding 4x100ah vs 2x280 ah it really just depends on your budget and your footprint for the battery storage. When we first purchased one of the factors at the time was chargeability/ dischargability. having 2 independent BMS's (1 in each battery) could mean that we could take in/output more power safely as some bigger batteries at the time we using fairly similar BMS systems regardless of battery size. As with most batteries now having better BMS systems to reflect the Ah's in the cells. I don't think that theory is as relevant going into 2025. But you should still check how much power can be charged and discharged per BMS. Those would be my concerns and making sure you are getting a good battery and a good warranty. For sure make sure to shop around and find the battery, manufacturer and price that meets your needs. Sometimes the cheapest batteries aren't the best , nor are the most expensive. Hope that helps you out as you navigate Lithium. You will see a major change in your charging as well with that 600 watts of solar. Should be a pretty sweet setup regardless. Just make sure you use a shunt to monitor your power.
@@UniqueAdventurez Thank you for the thoughtful reply!
Hi, is your truck raised, or stock suspension hight?
Great question. We are at stock height. But did gain at bit of height just from the tire change.
Trailers and tents aren't the only options. Truck campers and vans can certainly get into those "backwards" spots. It is annoying when they set up sites that way.
Totally right. Trying to cover as many forms as possible ,but truck campers and vans will work in those spots as well. Totally annoying and we are seeing it more and more as we visit a bunch of these older campgrounds.
Solar panels are so cheap now why not cover your entire roof surface? My truck camper (Eagle Cap 1165) has 600 watts of solar, a 460 ah LiFePO4 battery (which has a smaller footprint than 2x100 ah batteries) and a 3000 watt inverter. I can run my AC while boondocking and barely scratch my battery level!! Even on overcast days I get enough to keep my battery at/near 100%.
Great question. We will be adding some more ground solar to chase around the sun during this offseason. Personally for our rig I think a ground unit will be better for us as opposed to drilling more holes in our roof. Nothing wrong with decking a roof in solar and I think others with our floor plan have got close to 600-800 watts on the roof. Sounds like you have a killer setup that is highly mobile, those Eagle Caps are really nice.

Appreciate the kind words !!
Stayed on the new side this summer. Loved the river, new restooms but probably won't camp there again due to 0 privacy. Plus, trees look lopped off at the tops. Did you notice that?
Didn’t really it’s e about the topped trees, but don’t doubt anything while they were doing construction to the sites. We are hoping that as the vegetation grows back it will fill out giving more privacy.
Amp hours? S a me as Watt?
I think you are asking if amp hours are the same as watt hours and the answer is no.
Love it!
It’s was pretty sweet . The fish were everywhere
I have some river front land a couple miles upriver from here.
It’s all gorgeous land around the area . I bet it’s just as beautiful. Can’t beat river front property.
How have your experiences been at Schafer state Park ? We enjoyed the new side of the campground and will for sure be coming back.
Do you have power and water in the new area? Thanks for the vid.
Great question . There is water and power at every site , except 15-18 which are tent only pack in sites
Looking forward to the foods
They won’t disappoint. It’s was all really good !!
I am about to book this resort. It looks nice. Do you have to reserve a table for dinner or is it first come first serve?
@@KoneTravelVlog no need to reserve times . Just show up a little before you want to be seated. Good to hear from you !! It’s a great resort with some great food.
Are you able to use the adapter regulator to use a 20 lb propane tank instead of those 1 lb propane tanks?
Absolutely….. and uses the same adapter as the older Blackstone’s. The adapter works very well.
Fun vid of Seabrook, thanks!
Thank you , it was a fun time and a great way to explore the town. We had a great time there.
I sure wish the maintenance crews would get in there and cut back all the low hanging branches over the road. Most RVs will scrape the roof on those low hanging tree branches all throughout the campground.
It definitely looked like some trimming could be needed .
Do you know what there litterly just a hole to ouside behind the fridge where the access panel is to move the fridge
For our setup this panel was below our fridge. We still had to take the panel out to replace it. Not sure where the outside fridge access would have helped us here.
Cell service? I heard there was *none*, true?
I don’t remember having much coverage there
Thats awesome, we drove past that spot a few times on our visit to Mt Rainier and never stopped. I have marked it on our map for our next visit. Wander On- Kyle and Michelle
It’s a great place to stop and get a quick bite. There are for sure some good places on the backroads around Mt Rainer . Thanks as always . Glen and Kim
Looks like a great base camp to go explore Sunrise at Mt. Rainer and ride the Gondola at Crystal Mountain.
It’s a great location for sure, we will for sure be going back.
Thanks for the review. I've been curious about this campground for a while. You do a nice job of showing the sites. I always look forward to your campground reviews.
Phyllis, thank you for the kind words. We also had pasted this one for years before coming. The river view sites are great and being able to get down to the river for some wadding in the summer is another great benefit. Thanks for following along with the reviews.
Which sites were your favorite ? We loved those last couple of sites right next to the water,
Despite the noise, it looks great.
For sure , if you are off the highway , it’s not that bad . Thanks for checking out the video !
Why do you have 9 DC fuses now? Did you make some new outlets?
At 13:02 you can see that on the old panel had a couple of DC items on 1 fuse for a fair amount of positions. We decided to make some independent fuse positions and not combine all of them back up. Thus going from 5 fuse positions to 9.
