What are your thoughts on this new blackstone griddle. So far it looks like it’s going to be good as long as the non stick surface stays non stick. We will be doing a follow up review down the road !
Hate to say this...I feels like Blackstone is going cheap here with of the newer models although it's lighter, its made out of aluminum and with a possible toxic non stick coating on it...note using high heat on it after a while the surface plate might warp more easily than the steel one and possibly emit toxic fumes and burn off of the non stick coating while using it under high heat, unlike the old steel surface.
Cast an steel can last a life time an a whole lot more ,but how many times have we had to replace non stick pans in our homes, the burners an casings of the black stone griddles will go bad before the cooking surfaces,
Great review, love that you used the hatchet to open it. 8) There is no such thing as too much butter. We gave up on our original blackstone after a few months, too heavy, to difficult to clean. This might be something that would bring me back to the blackstone. Thanks for taking the time to review this. - Kyle
Gotta love when you can get a hatchet in a video !!! It is way more compact than a regular Blackstone. Super easy to clean and has done well so far. Hope you guys are doing well on your travels !!
I’m diabetic so breakfast is a must. Gonna grab one of these for an upcoming trip. Thanks for sharing! Not breakfast related but I’m craving steak bombs!
Best review I've seen on this product, i have the adventure 17 but it weighs a ton and often leave it because its just so much bulk and weight. We tent camp out of a Tacoma so size and weight are big factors. I think I'll definitely try one now based on your review, thanks.
Thank you or the amazing compliment. We truly appreciate it. The weight is a big difference compared to the traditional version, even a 17 traditional will weigh more than the 20 new version. Good luck with the truck camping. We also hope to take this out truck camping at some point as well. Plus with the easy pack ability should make it easy to use for all different types of camping.
Oh man, I like this a lot. My 22in blackstone with the attached hood, is like 70lbs. This would be so much easier to carry and store in the camper. The concerns I would have are the longevity of the non-stick surface, having to buy all new utensils and accessories for the nonstick surface, and I feel like that hinge for the lid might break sooner rather than later.
The long term non stick will be the equalizer. I do feel that if it isn’t used daily and mostly for camping trips that it should hopefully last. Only time will tell. And yes, it does stink to have to replace all the utensils. But if that surface does last , it will hands down be the best griddle/ camp Stice I have ever owned.
We have the version with the side burner and 14” griddle. For the lid on ours, you’re supposed to manually unlock it before shutting . Awesome video tho and everything looked great.
Appreciate the kind words. We are trying out here. As far as the griddle it has been a game changer to our camping trips. Thanks for the amazing comment !!
just picked one up to throw in our rv. I wish a decent set of tongs would have been included with the spatchula set at least and a foil grease trap insert or two
Agreed on it coming with some accessories, but I guess they know they have you with a brand new product. Good luck with your new grill, we are really enjoying ours.
Looks perfect for camping! I'm afraid that the nonstick won't last long but hopefully I'm wrong. I have a 22" original Blackstone that I love but always had problems with wind since I live in a rural area. I just ordered a set of magnetic wind shields for it so hopefully that will mitigate the wind issue. I've also seen others have issues with the top hinge and also with the handle breaking in two. I'm going to get one of these but I'm going to wait until they fix these issues
Good things to note . So far so good with our unit. We also had wind issues with our 22. So far no issues with wind with the 20. We will keep everyone posted.
Appreciate this review - this new griddle seems to MASSIVELY improve the portability of Blackstone’s table-top griddle line. I don’t know why it took them so long to re-tool the form factor into a compact, self contained box - but I’m glad they finally did! I gotta say, I am worried about the non-stick surface though in terms of durability/longevity. Much like non-stick pans, I assume this is going to have a very limited lifespan (even with plastic utensils/careful handling) vs. the seasoned steel cooktop that’ll last literally forever …. I honestly would love to see them add a model with the same form factor AND a steel cooktop. I assume that would make it a lot heavier but it would be the best of both worlds IMO.
Thanks for the great comment Brannan. Maybe they do look in the future of doing a hybrid type setup, that would be the best of both worlds. Only time will tell on the longevity of the non stick surface. But we are really digging this compact setup that sets up and cleans up at a fraction of the time our regular Blackstone 22 did. So far so good for us a month in.
Great video. I already have the 22 , for camping and love it , but its so heavy. I also have the 36 for the house. Idk 🤷♀️ if i should get one i like the one with the side burner so i could boil water, but its a small griddle, . I normally cook for 3-4 ppl when camping. Dont know if its worth getting or not . Does it cool down faster than the 22 bs?
If you have 3-4 people who would say the 20” would be best. The 14” would be better for 1-2 people, but that side burner is pretty tempting. I think the price is a bit high on the 14 for the size. It for sure seems to cool down faster than our 22, and that non stick surface is so nice. Thanks for the great comment, we appreciate the support.
Looks good. Just trying to decide on that one or the one with the burner. Can easily bring a backpacking small burner to boil water. More space for only 1 to 3 people is probably easier on those things?
They was our debate as well as we had the option to go with the 14 or the 20. For 1-2 people you could get by with the 14 and have the extra side burner for maybe soup and sandwiches or something like that. We do entertain some larger groups at time so the 20 was the way to go for us. And they non stick surface is a game changer to a traditional blackstone
Thanks for the kind words. Watch the regulator , I’m not sure if will fit under the hood when closed, plus I’m not sure about it possibly scratching the surface. Will take a look at it this weekend when we take it out again.
You Might need to go in store . I couldn’t find it online , but found them in my local Walmart. Tried to scan using there app and it won’t really come up. So in-store would be my suggestion at this time

Our office bought the 22inch BS like this for our boss for XMas, and he loved it. BS could make one improvement with their griddles and that would be the placement of the grease bin. Think flatrock. Otherwise the BS is a beast in this department. Nonstick is for pots and pans. Not Outdoor griddles. So long as BS is making real griddles I'll consider them. Otherwise I'm looking elsewhere. Even Webber. Just won't have a nonstick griddle. Takes the cook out of cooking. There has to be some kind of learned skill in preparing your food or there is no sense in it. One disadvantage to this that I can see is. Sometimes you put meat or veggies, mushrooms etc on the grill and then chop them up with your utensils. This being a nonstick surface griddle. This may be almost impossible. Sorry brother, but there is no such thing as too much butter. Camping breakfast same as at home. Bacon Eggs and heavily buttered toast. Humans have been eating butter for thousands of years. Butter is not the enemy. You have a hidden fear of butter.
Great feedback. I do agree that’s it’s harder to chop things up while cooking , which is easier on the traditional BS. I really loved the grease traps on the 17” traditional BS’s where it was in the front. I agree with the blackstone increasing convenience , which during some camping trips people want to be focused on making memories and not worrying about the food. We love to cook on everything from this blackstone to cast iron to direct over the fire cooking. This just gives some different options. Also for us here in the northwest we do have to contend with humidity and the non stick coating helps decrease the risk for rust as many people deal with rust issues and blackstones. This also takes take some of the worry out of the owning the product. As for butter , we love butter lol… and definitely don’t shy away from it as I feel like it’s a way better option to using oil. But this grill just doesn’t require as much to cook with. Love the amazing comment and the feedback. Thank you !!!
Wish I would have as well during the reveal shot. It ended up being right below medium. For me it was perfect and the Blackstone placed a good crust on it.
We will be doing another follow up video and will include a bit more about that . The first couple of cooks just didn’t have any grease. But the grease trap has worked well so far .Thanks for the comment.
I just recently threw away my nonstick Coleman Grillin' Griddle. It was well used and over 15 years old. As long as you don't use metal utensils and keep the heat to a sensible temp, it will last years!
The griddle looks good but the video, not so much. Would have been great if you set your camera on your right. Your left elbow does nothing for the experience.
Stop the auto focus or move the camera away from you please. I just picked mine up yesterday at Wally World. And the stand. Plus the utensil kit. Geez, $250 later
Noted . If you get all the components it’s is a bit spendy. We really have a basic table we use so no extra cost , except for the utensils. Hope you enjoy your new griddle.
I have seen a bunch of things from blackstone , but I think they definitely hit something here. The proof will be the grill’s longevity. Thanks for the comment.

Manual focus brother.
Take the Auto Focus off !!
👍
Wish you cut into the steak to see how that turned out.
Wish I would have as well during the reveal shot. It ended up being right below medium. For me it was perfect and the Blackstone placed a good crust on it.
You didn’t talk or show anything about the grease trap/pan.
We will be doing another follow up video and will include a bit more about that . The first couple of cooks just didn’t have any grease. But the grease trap has worked well so far .Thanks for the comment.
non stick doesnt last very long..... you will throw it away after 1 year
We will have to see , so far so good .
We will be working on a better experience in the next grill video we do. Thanks for the feedback.
Never been a fan of Blackstone due to the price and after one season all who I know have one they always rust. This one might be the one I invest in.
I have seen a bunch of things from blackstone , but I think they definitely hit something here. The proof will be the grill’s longevity. Thanks for the comment.
