Fantastic vid , just listen to those engines, thanks for sharing. Horns are still pathetic 😂
My word! Back in teh 70s they sure knew how to make a great promotional film.
It’s almost like 1997 all over again with that deltic in that livery
I did go. It was an incredible day, with a little drama, about 1 min after 1:33 (at which point we were doing a tad over 100mph) we found ourselves doing an emergency stop and spadded a signal, as the signaller had given priority to the GNER class 91 seen just departing. We both sat for some time as the issue was sorted out. Wish they had given us a clear run as the way we were going it felt like the class 91 would not catch us, especially given a 100mph+ head start and us running non-stop.
Superb video, back here reminiscing after the latest sad news with D9009, oh to be able to turn back time
They never show 2nd Class 😀
Was this footage in 55022 The Third Age Restarted DVD?
Almost mythical to me as a boy in the late 70s early 80s , never saw any where I lived , whilst on holiday in Scotland I saw one at Kirkcaldy Station . Would love to drive one
After over 60 years a Deltic powering by still never fails to impress. What machines!!
Wow,great to see and hear.
There were actually THREE Deltics on the ECML this day. D9000 also worked a VSOE tour from Victoria to Bradford.
Looks like the bad luck has struck again on poor d9009
-It was D9009 renamed - not good
And thats why they called 47 spoons. They stirred everything up. Excellent thunderbird film.
The echoed noise within the tunnel is the stuff of sci-fi series sound effects😂
Wrong blue.
Wonderful panning shot across platform 17 to Scarborough - nice thought out camera work.
Brush power
I heard about the failed Deltic on Twitter last night. 2 x Class 47's top and tailing a 12-car Deltic+12-car charter train isnt bad going!!!
Nice captures, I really appreciate your video👌👍
Guess its a trip with true realism a powerful storming run to scarborough, then rescued by a 47 and towed home ala BR days back to finsbury park for a quick repair nice shots .
The Deltics were the business!
Hello all, I wonder if anyone can help, I saw this rake of coaches through Cheddington on the DF today 20/08 at about 1415 but I was a way off in the distance, I found out it was empty coaching stock from Acton and it was double headed, anyone know what the locos were, lead loco had 'double arrow' logo and second was I think a 37 in dark green, just interested, not important, many thanks for video.
I was in York when it arrived. It sound too crash hot. not surprised it failed later.
What a nob head steward ordering people on 'lets go' when 47848 isnt even coupled on at 3:05
Poor 55013 Hope It gets well soon great work mate
Somebody wasn't superstitious! 90013, just asking for trouble!
90013??
Nice video great camera work as usual as always keep it up bye for now Philip
55013????? What goes here??🤔🤔
its 9 in disguise
@@nickedwards2904lol, I was thinking I'd not heard of 13 for a long time .😁😁👍
@@nickedwards2904 Yep. Someone caught it on its way south from Barrow Hill last week with the number and the nameplate taped up, trying to travel incognito....
Do you know what the issue was?
nothing seriousnapparently, just a short i have heard so electrical but minor
A lighting circuit fault that shut down the engines, I hear. They did get it going again but they put the 47 on as a precaution
ok thanks@@AndreiTupolev
Bad wire on the starter motor apparently
Those replies are good. Nothing serious on those mighty Napier’s. A leg out of bed would be awful.
Nice video of the Deltic tour.
Love the dubbed engine noise revving up and down like a hookers knickers.
Classic
Not pinza though.
Good sounds and filming.
Very good intro
I had thousands of miles with deltics from 1978 onward but I have no log of having St Paddy.
Looks like the opening of 'Get Carter'
Good old deltics
These trains had proper restaurant cars as well. None of these aircraft meals in first class and the rubbish train shop you have now in standard class.
Caught that loco myself down at Atherstone and it’s the first for me to see that loco in green livery and carrying d9000
Hey do u still have the video girl on the train.daisey hicks hang of this life?
Great Vid. Finest locos ever built.
Great film. I wished i had gone. I think its easy to forget what superb locos they were. Too many years pottering around on preserved lines on one engine at 30mph. The soundtrack at the magic ton through Donny simply awesome. Still my favorite class.
St.Paddy!
55022 no less
Straining at the leash for the off - superb recording!
Just superb!
Power supreme!
Love the banking on the approach !
