I was at the ruins once found them completely by accident I did not know they were there
They are hidden, especially in the summer! Thanks for watching, Dave!
I couldn't imagine getting clocked by a falling brick even with a helmet on.I think without one you wouldn't feel anything lol.
@@577buttfan That's funny🤣! Would've made for a funny video. Thanks for watching!
Dude! I checked out your channel and subscribed. I am humbled that you watched our video. I didn't realize until I watched one of your videos that you are featured on Phil's channel often. Thanks again for watching!
@ No problem brother,stay safe!
Nice and quiet place this time of year.
@davenooner2142 it seems that fun in the sun reigns here, but for us, we enjoyed the cold winter serenity. Thanks for watching!
Nice!!❤
Thanks!
Love seeing wildlife of any sort! Thanks for sharing
You're most welcome, Sherry! Thanks for watching!
It's a great area to go for a relaxing walk. Great wildlife shots . 👍👍
Just a little exercise before Christmas dinner, and it was very serene. Thanks for watching!
TGIF to the #LumberjackPa 🥾🥾 Nation ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! I didn't know that there was a whole nation devoted to us! Amen. Thank you, God, for the weekend!
It was cool seeing the lake partially frozen. Great captures of the herons! Nice amount of waterfowl out there 😊
We were surprised by the heron. Thanks for coming along!
That was so neat to see those three or four herons just chilling there by the lake. This looks like a great time of year to visit this park. I agree with you; this one is so busy in the spring and summer.
Thanks so much! Your comments are appreciated, and we are glad that you chose to watch!
I think that tree was the only choice for the blaze. There's nothing but scrub brush right at the turn, but it does seem confusing. What type of bird is that out on the lake? They don't look like mallards or geese. Cool! A bunch of herons. Nice tour around the lake, thanks.
Mrs. Lumberjack mentioned those birds, but she wasn't confident in naming them. Hopefully, someone else will know and comment. Thanks for watching and supporting us!
You need to write a guidebook on all these adventures ✨️ 🙌 😀
Very interesting! Maybe a memoir of the roads and paths traveled. Thanks for a great idea!
Awesome adventure with the best hiking trail boss 🥾🥾 #LumberjackPa ❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️
We are always appreciative of your support, and thank you for your never-ending encouragement!
Pretty cool find. As an enthusiast of Original Transcon UP/CPRR era, I can only imagine the man-power it took to build these enduring structures. Would also love to see the Starrucca Viaduct in the future. Thanks, from Darrell.
Thanks! I have never heard of the one that you mentioned.
@@LumberjackPaLooked online. Quite a story and another fella' video'd it TH-cam. 1840's built. quite a masterpiece for that era. thanks again for your Works, Lumberjack.
@darrellborland119 wow, 1840's! Thanks for the information! We do quite a bit of hiking, but it's neat to find old structures to explore.
@darrellborland119 I just looked it up, too. That's impressive! On our list, it goes. Thanks!
Always wanted to get down the trail to this tunnel but never did so thanks for taking me there!!!! So awesome!
Kind words are appreciated, and anytime we can oblige, we are blessed to do so. Thanks for watching!
Who is there with you?
@@DavidFinney-k5t Nobody wanted to come play. Just me. Thanks for watching!
That's a long tunnel. You're braver than me walking through there. That big hole is scary. I hope the rest of the ceiling doesn't fall in. I was nervous for you in there.
@debbieskitchen2 I was concerned also and braver not so much as dumb😁. It seems that it won't be long before a much larger collapse happens, unfortunately, Debbie. Thanks, as always, for supporting us!
@debbieskitchen2 We had a great holiday. We had about two weeks off from work and spent time hiking, and my sister visited from Florida also. I am happy that your family made it home for Christmas!
Nice preserve.
What an enjoyable surprise it was for us! Thanks, Debbie!
I hope you and your family had a nice Christmas. Mine was busy but nice. My son came home and my daughter was over Christmas day. Happy New Year! Nice bridge.
Nice place. I don't know why anyone would abandon it. I like hearing history of old places.
I guess some don't see the same value in things as others do. I sure am glad Hopewell was saved, and I am surely happy that you stopped by, Debbie!
Great post! What would be the cross street with Fairview that the tunnel is near?
I don't think there is an intersection with Fairview. My understanding is that Fairview may have been the name of the tunnel. It's a short walk from the trail parking areas. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for letting us know where to go. Our commonwealth is rich with layer after layer of history. God bless Pennsylvania brother.
Great video Lumberjack !
We are thankful for your support! Thank you for taking time to watch and comment!
I suspect the RR single tracked it with the track in the center to get more vertical clearance for modern equipment. Might have happened 100 years ago.
That makes sense and seems reasonable. The width is more than ample for two tracks in my amateur opinion. Thanks for adding some information and coming along with us!
I love places Like this
Me too! It's people like you who give us the courage to check out places like this! Thanks for stopping by!
Pretty cool might check it out before its closed in rough shape its near me

Tourists centuries hence will look in awe at closed down but carefully preserved dollar stores, gyms and fast food restaurants.

Is this across from the condos?
@lanatrzczka I believe so. I am answering this way as I am not completely sure what constitutes a condo. They are not single stand alone homes.
@@lanatrzczka Thanks for watching!
👍👍
@Tolerance_1_1 Thanks for watching!
Yea, that's an interesting tunnel. How long will it be before it is blocked? Gotta get there soon.
@quietjohnoutandabout6578 I think that it's only a matter of time. There are houses all around it, and it is likely for someone to get hurt even if they are prepared. Thanks for watching!
No way a piece of rail was used to hold up the ceiling.
@@HanzBlitz-i8t supposedly. I am finding it hard to believe. Thanks for watching!
Nice adventure. If I had to guess, you were walking on Shards of soot that had fallen from the roof.
@@bshingledecker thanks for the kind words! I never thought about soot🤫. Very interesting. Thanks for watching and participating in the conversation!
Hey I seen this tunnel before with someone else going into it just saying.

@@LumberjackPa Maybe a hard hat next time?
@@utubewatcher806 that makes too much sense😁. Thanks for watching!
What an awesome adventure! And a bit scary, too! My heart was pounding, and I wanted you to just hurry up and get the hell out of there. Super sketchy looking, especially after seeing that huge ceiling collapse. Having made it to the other side safely, I might have just tried scaling that embankment on the other side instead of going back in. Even if I had to walk another mile to find an easier way up. 😂
@@krohikinghappens that is so funny! I surely was feeling the stress. I would have liked to walk it out the other side, but there are houses at the point of easier exit. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm!
That is so wild!! I am glad you were prepared because that seemed a little sketchy. It was really interesting to see everything inside the tunnel. I am not sure how comfortable I would be driving over that bridge with that hike underneath 😮 Great explore!
@nationalparksprincess3216 I was a little nervous about it until I was out. As far as driving over, I believe that more than ninety percent of people don't even know what they are driving over. Thanks for watching and supporting us!
Such a cool place to visit. Also a littel scary 😮

Well then I'm so glad that I shared this adventure! It's so exciting to find and explore places like this. Thanks for your seemingly never ending support!
Nice one that looked interesting. Yes looked like three layers of bricks , cool how they were made into an arch and the giant cave in. 👍👍😁
@@PATG3Randomthoughts thank you, sir! It is amazing to witness the architecture in places like this. Thank you for coming along with us!
That was really cool. I thought maybe you'd just show us the edge of the tunnel, but that was neat you went in. Very interesting to see the old tracks and all that brickwork in the tunnel.
@hikingoutdoorfamily It was all or nothing, especially since I had a makeshift helmet. Thanks for watching!
Pretty cool !
Indeed! A couple of falling bricks couldn't possibly do more damage than has already been done.
@@LumberjackPa Looked a bit sketchy in there. Something you don't see every day!
wow!!...very cool explore. It sounds like this won't be accessible soon so it's a good thing you made it out there. Thank you for sharing, my friend!

Hey Tom😃Years ago in Southern California my wife and I would hang out in an active train tunnel but there was safety areas to sit and watch the trains go by😁Crazy how the top collapsed like that from a big rig parked aboveGreat video, thank you for sharing👍🏻Have a great weekendROCK ON!!!!!!!🤘🏻🤙🏻✌🏻
Hanging out in the active tunnels must be wild, but nerve-wracking, I'm sure. I thank you for watching and commenting, MMFZ!
Nice video the masonry work on those old tunnels always amazes me. Thank for posting
I agree, the technology has gotten better, but the craftsmanship is spotty anymore. Thanks for watching!
@ 10-4 on that
Great video , lots of work done to furnace, and such a cool place to visit. It would make a great video to see it running part 2 . What's your favorite part of the furnace area ?
@PATG3Randomthoughts Thanks for watching and encouraging us! Because of my background, my favorite area is definitely the Blacksmith Shop, but the charcoal process is also intriguing. Thanks for asking.
So much history throughout Pennsylvania. It is wonderful to see this place has been preserved.
@krohikinghappens I think that the Delaware Valley is steeped in history, and we sometimes take it for granted being from here. Thanks for watching!
@ I’m currently doing research for our AT hiking through PA and finding the trail passes through a lot of historic places. I remember you and PA Timber Ghost hiking the Rausch Gap area with the cemetery, looking forward to getting there.
@krohikinghappens I think that you're going to really enjoy the solitude of Rausch Gap. I would suggest, if possible, to explore the area off the AT in this area.
Great Video man! I didnt realize they shut the water wheel down in the winter, doesnt surprise me as I think about it, but still. Glad you could make use of the clip!
I don't know if they shut the wheel down or if it just froze. Thanks for the kind words and your support!
Great watch! Thanks for sharing
You betcha, Sherry!
Neat looking place with a great history! I enjoyed the tour and look around 😊
Thanks NPP! We are happy that you enjoyed our video!
One of these years I'm going to get there when they have the demonstration with all the actors and stuff I think that would be neat I've never been there for that I've been to Joanna furnace when they did that one but not to Hopewell
@Dwvideos Joanna Furnace is on our list. I have seen the demonstrations on TH-cam, but in person would be great! Thanks for watching and sharing your comments, brother! We should get together for a hike up your way sometime.
You should try and get there for the Christmas demonstration it's pretty neat. Yeah we could do a small hikes sometime I can't do more than a mile mile and a half 2 mi until I get my back and my knee fixed but I can do short hikes. I don't know if you've ever heard of Sweet arrow lake there's a waterfall there some ruins and a boardwalk and a big lake. Only like a mile or two of trails there not much but it's something that I can do if you're interested sometime
