We are filled with gratitude for Keystone Curiosity being willing to share a clip from his interview with Park Ranger Mary Zerby! In the clip, she explains the reason why Hopewell Furnace exists. Contrary to my commentary, the reason was not found in the Blacksmith Shop but in the Store. Thanks for watching, and please consider checking out Keystone Curiosity.
Great video , lots of work done to furnace, and such a cool place to visit. It would make a great video to see it running part 2 . What's your favorite part of the furnace area ?
I have been here many times, but I didn't realize that it was the journals that helped protect this place. Did you know in late August/Early September you can pick apples here at the historic orchard in front of the building? We have done that a few times and it's been really fun.
@hikingoutdoorfamily the journals were a surprise to me also! We have picked apples, and one of these days I hope to go when everyone is dressed in period clothing and demonstrations are happening. Thanks for watching and sharing a comment with us!
@ I’m currently doing research for our AT hiking through PA and finding the trail passes through a lot of historic places. I remember you and PA Timber Ghost hiking the Rausch Gap area with the cemetery, looking forward to getting there.
@krohikinghappens I think that you're going to really enjoy the solitude of Rausch Gap. I would suggest, if possible, to explore the area off the AT in this area.
Great Video man! I didnt realize they shut the water wheel down in the winter, doesnt surprise me as I think about it, but still. Glad you could make use of the clip!
@davenooner2142 Thanks, Dave! It surely is, and it's so visitor friendly. From touring the village, hiking trails, and picking apples to boating on the lake, Hopewell has a lot to offer. Thanks for watching!
One of these years I'm going to get there when they have the demonstration with all the actors and stuff I think that would be neat I've never been there for that I've been to Joanna furnace when they did that one but not to Hopewell
@Dwvideos Joanna Furnace is on our list. I have seen the demonstrations on TH-cam, but in person would be great! Thanks for watching and sharing your comments, brother! We should get together for a hike up your way sometime.
You should try and get there for the Christmas demonstration it's pretty neat. Yeah we could do a small hikes sometime I can't do more than a mile mile and a half 2 mi until I get my back and my knee fixed but I can do short hikes. I don't know if you've ever heard of Sweet arrow lake there's a waterfall there some ruins and a boardwalk and a big lake. Only like a mile or two of trails there not much but it's something that I can do if you're interested sometime

@@EventyrsorenDenmark We are fortunate that it is quite near us. Thanks for watching!
So much history throughout Pennsylvania. It is wonderful to see this place has been preserved.
@krohikinghappens I think that the Delaware Valley is steeped in history, and we sometimes take it for granted being from here. Thanks for watching!
