Thanks for watching and your question. I'm not a professional so that's a tough one. I suspect a pro would charge per linear foot for installation. I had 300ft of edging to install so I might expect to pay $1,000+ to have this installed vs. about $250 to do it myself. I hope that helps.

Whos saying you can't do it professional? Pretty much all your videos look professionally done you remember me saying that when you did the edges on the lawn with the plants? I like the unprofessional look, yours look professional. Another note, I'm glad somebody likes using manual edger. I have both and I simply like doing the physical work, rather than just running a machine and cutting a straight line. I was looking for edging material in Home Depot last Friday. And I've been really debating using plastic which I generally don't like. However, I've only seen them in a street line on a house border not around tree etc. I like the fact that it's more mailable. I'm a situation where 1/3 of the front of the lawn almost 2/3 of the lawn is going in and abnormal shape, basically almost like a wave and going around a Palm tree. it's not a 100% perfect line and decided to avoid the straight line look because I had to dodge a pine tree. I think I may go with plastic simply because I can mold strange shapes, but still create a line that's more defined, rather than natural, if that makes sense? My situation has been the opposite. You started planning everything out, with me. I started planning one side of the house and then a separate side. I ended up adding more stuff eventually creating a semi garden. (bushes/trees/flower type bushes etc). I avoided carefully to not create a wall, so I planned around the mature size and how they look like with colors. but now that the stuff has started setting in and physically growing I would really like to have a more defined border because from my side of the house not the street. It's not a normal shape. It's a wave, curvature and straight line mix. I even got rid of the old cotton grass that's more for cool season not for Florida never needs to be cut, but the problem is it never stays green either during the summer and because it's a slow grower cut it once it won't go back to 3 inches till like four months, which is brutal. the perennial peanut is perfectly green and healthy on the other side but I wasn't planning on adding that to the other side so I decided to add bushes trees, etc.

My man - you would be surprised! Thanks for watching this one, I'm excited to do a follow-up on the last video. I've always struggled with what to use. Landscape edging is all over the place. When I walk around my neighborhood, I see 50 different styles and no one seems to be doing it right. I guess if I had unlimited time, I would lay down pavers, I think that looks the best - but what's always stopped me is the time and expense of that. Especially doing it the right way. You landscape situation sounds awesome - but also I get the challenge. It sounds like you have a lot of diversity of plants which is really cool. Let me know what you end up doing - I'm sure it will look great! You and I are alike - I agree with the way you put it on the manual edger - I simply like doing the physical work and I like the control it gives you.

Nice. So you're driving the stakes through the edging, correct? Resting the bed sounds nice, but the soil isn't going to be any different "for the plant" that 2nd year vs planting immediately. Yes the soil will be better, but that will happen regardless and that extra year of growth is pretty valuable. Also look around your property (and your families) and you can fix a lot of bald-ish spots easily with that sod. Or kill off a heavily weeded area and reclaim it with sod. Got a low, wet spot? Put in some vertical drains (post holes filled with gravel, and build up the area with the sod. Endless uses for sod. :)

Good video. Funny enough I've been working on my yard and as you know, it's a time-consuming project because plants take a while to grow, (especially removing/adding lawn) not all of them grow rapidly. I've been working on mine for technically about two years this June.. one year a section doing perennial peanuts so that it could survive extreme heat, but still look nice and never needs to be mowed and the other side, including the back project with lush color, trees, bushes, black trees (black Dimaonds) etc., and the back having zero scape like with juniper Parsons, cactus and those types of plant that are super dry. and you're right about transition is important. The area that I'm doing all colors, including adding trees and bushes. You have to research maximum height and not only that but they also have a general idea. You don't wanna put something into the ground that will take 10 years to 3 feet height because that's a long time and most people like to see results. It's nice to add to a house if you just bought it and plan on living there. The only difference with mine and yours is that you're creating barriers that show the edges so that it looks more professionally done which is really nice. By the way I'm doing the same but I remove the barriers after I put the plants down so that the natural form creates a barrier without anything in the ground, creating a straight line instead, it has a natural straight line, which is easier on the eye then commercial lies. Not saying that it's bad it's just my personal preference. the neighborhood here some of the houses were redone and the houses look like they came out of a box. Like manufactured homes. Of the biggest problems I've seen with peoples lawn and it's a great point you brought it up in your video is the color balance. Like you told them to go to Home Depot and then pick the plants that really stand out for you but it's important for them to do a little bit of research how they look like at the end. The problem is a lot of people don't have an eye for color, I have neighbors that have all sorts of different colors, including the house that it looks like a freaking rainbow or something you would see some strip club (neon lights lol). and I have other neighbors that do complete everything green, which isn't bad but everything blends too much together, even though all the plants and trees and bushes are completely different the leaves are basically the same so nothing stands out. It looks like just one blotch of color. Random note: you should list the plants you're using for viewers. (I know what you're using but those who don't)

Thanks brother! It's a never ending process, that's for sure. Your yard sounds nice! I like how you've thought it out so well with low maintenance options. You're down in Florida, right? Thanks for the suggestion on including the plant names! I'll throw them in the description for everyone. Always good to hear from you, brother 🤜🤛
