I'm just down the road between Honea Path and Donalds, we got quite the mess to clean up here. Very fortunate to just have a mess here after seeing what's going on in the mountains. Great vid!
Here in the western Virginia mountains/hollows we’ve had about 8 days of soaking rain, with yesterday being the driest. Our middle river is at flood stage 1/2 mile from our hollow. Our house sits on a ridge on the hollow. This morning we have large bull pine on our roof. A live tree with roots pulling out of the ground. We’ve got 100+ year old white pines all around our house. If they b/c unstable we’re screwed.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. My heart goes out to the entire southeast US. I've lived through practically every hurricane since the 60's & the worst I've had to endure were a few days w/o power & wet floors due to a faulty window. In Tampa now & was celebrating we got mostly spared when the news from GA, NC & TN started reaching us. I'm so very sorry. Be strong, help each other. Everyone & their uncle is coming to lend a hand.
Glad to have found something covering an area I sorta know. My husband is from around here and you were on a road he takes to work everyday. We live down around Iva and it was similar down here. So many down trees and lines. Thank you for covering what you did.
Man, what's crazy is that you'd normally think a hurricane is going to do the most damage at the coastal communities, but this one was so much more devastating as a tropical storm, what- 300 or 400 miles further up North? I heard 20" to 30" of rain in 18 hours in some parts. That's more than a whole year's worth of rain for most parts of the country. Crazy...
Your video was very interesting and well done. I’m glad you’re damage wasn’t worse than what it was. This global warning is something we can’t ignore, when areas such as where you live are now getting these storms. It’s so tragic to see all the devastation in these other states that was pummeled by this storm. The loss of life, their homes and businesses. I’ve never experienced anything like this so I don’t know what it’s like to go through this. These big uprooted trees just illustrates the power of the wind that comes with these storms.
I was in Charleston for Hugo. Not something I want to deal with ever again. Here in Greenville the wind and rain was heavy and I lost some chairs when my creek breached but that's it. We've got it good at the moment. Western NC has been decimated with whole towns wiped of the map! It's going to take years before they recover.
Glad you're good dude! Enjoy your content.. Down in Delano TN riding the Chattahoochee area now.. Not bad here but we keep hearing horror stories further east
Thanks. We have family around the Erwin/Johnson City area and it's pretty bad there but all of our family is safe. I'm glad to hear that you didn't have much going on around you 🙏
Glad everyone is safe down that way. Unfortunately there are areas in the mountains that have been geographically changed by this storm and will take months or years even to get back to normal. Lost a car to an oak tree but everyone is safe and no damage to the house so all is well. Good luck to yall thanks for the video
I'm in Kentucky northeast and goodness we've never had a tropical storm in KY that I know of, not in my lifetime. 70 plus mph wind it was wicked, kinda scary really.
Crazy the damage you got up there. I live in Florida and experienced several hurricanes. I did get some winds from this but under 2 inches of rain. I didn't lost power this time. I was kind of shocked. In the past I have lost power for 8 days so I can relate to that. Praying for all the lost lives and people effected by the storm.
We live in the Mayo/Chesnee/Cowpens area of the Upstate and we got destroyed! It was 3 days before we could get off our road and didn't get power back on until day 10! So many houses with trees on them, some completely destroyed. We had a car trapped on our road when the embankment gave out and all the trees came crashing down around them. Luckily none came down on the car, but they had to risk more trees and powerlines trying to walk for help in the middle of the worst part of the storm. Someone with a private airport reported we had winds reach 90-100mph up here. We live in a 45yr old trailer and I'm so thankful that things were built better back in the day because I really thought we were about to be blown into the woods! Thankfully the only damage we took was tree limb loss and all our food. We lived out of a cooler holding $20 worth of what we could save until power came back on (lost it Fri Sept 27 around noon and didn't get it back till Sun evening Oct 6). I'm grateful that we came out ok, but my heart aches for those that lost literally everything. I hope it's a very long time, if ever, that we have to go through this again.

I grew up in Coastal NC and one of my best friends lives in Pickens/Easly SC, it was cut off up there before the storm. We came back from fishing in Alaska one year he took me up into the mountains to meet a guy the call wolf man, what a character :D.
I live in the upstate of SC as well. I lost my home to this storm. Luckily I took my kids and left Thursday night. We might not have survived if I hadn't left. Its still devastating to lose 20 years of memories and your home within a matter of hours. We just got power yesterday. My family 12 miles from me still dont have power. SC wasn't prepared for this. We have storms, high wind and lots of rain, even tornadoes here and there but this was historical.
I'm so sorry that you lost your home but I'm happy that you and your family are safe. Houses can be replaced but lives can't. No one in the southeast was prepared for this and just seeing all the devastation is heartbreaking. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers 🙏
This just blows me away! I've lived just outside of Charleston in West Ashley for 5 years now and work right on the peninsula. Rain didn't start till about 2pm on Thursday, it got heavy at times but not serious, and winds didn't start till early Friday morning, but again nothing serious. I saw some branches down but no trees. Lost power Friday morning while getting ready for work, but it was restored by the time I got home. The sun was coming out by Friday afternoon.

I'm happy that y'all are doing well. It will probably be years before NC gets back to some type of normal. Thanks. I love my 990 but I have owned 2 V-stroms and loved them too
I was born in Greenville lived at Paris mt then moved to Myrtle beach in the mid 80s. I have been through so many storms with Hugo being the worst. I have since then prepared for any storm. We built a concrete room onto our house with 8 in walls and 7 in ceiling. Roll up metal doors. We have a liquid cool 25 kw generator that feeds the whole house that runs off a LP tank buried in the ground. I learned after Hugo not many will come after a storm to help. Our power was off for two weeks. We were not prepared for that. Now I have enough food and water to last two months. We have 4 chain saws and we only store enough gas like 4. 5 gallons cans to run anything that runs on gas. It’s just tragic with this storm Helene the devastation to families. Hope and pray it gets better soon.
Take care all of you. My area was pretty much spared this, but some friends and family were not so fortunate. Even then, (mostly) nothing like the scenes that have come from NC, SC and TN.
First of the scenery is beautiful. However, i am sorry the storm hit your side of town and caused some damage. I pray the recovery is swift. Fyi, your ride was relaxing. The asmr sector of youtube would love you if you did an asmr on riding and seeing beautiful scenery. 😊

I know you're joking and it's funny. The weird thing about Adderall is that for people who actually need it (like me) it doesn't have much impact and I have trouble remembering to take it.
What a mess. Counting our blessings this time around. October 2020, Hurricane Zeta came up through Georgia and dropped a massive pine tree through our house and almost killed my mother as she was sleeping in her bedroom upstairs. This time around I was SO paranoid... I kept waking up when Helene was coming through and making sure she came downstairs to camp on the couch. It didn't hit too badly here, and it's heart breaking to see all the devastation elsewhere. :(
Thanks for posting. I'm up here in VA mountains & so fortunate that we didn't get hit nearly as hard as ya'll and NC. Has anyone confirmed if Asheville road access is completely cut off? I've heard that there's a state route road that is still passable but not sure.
Just got back from Hendersonville, NC. Went down to extract family. Consider I-26 North of Asheville, NC as impassable into TN. Consider I-40 East(near Old Fort, NC) and West of Asheville(from Waynesville, NC to Newport, TN) as impassable. Tried many different backroads over the mountains North of Asheville and forests and landslides are laying on the roads. May take weeks to just cut through. The only road that worked was to drive via I-77 to Shelby, NC and take State Road 74 to I-26 into Hendersonville. The cell phones appeared to come back on Saturday night at about 11PM in the downtown Hendersonville, NC area. Saturday night Pardee Hospital was still running on generators. I think Pardee got power back to the hospital on Sunday(09/29). Cell phone coverage is hit or miss traveling around. The few gas stations that were open and had generators had 2 mile long lines. Police were at the gas stations breaking up fights when I drove by. A large portion of the grocery stores were flooded and dark. It is apocalyptic. For those driving in from Charlotte, NC: Get gas and supplies no further West that Gastonia, NC. Preferably sooner. Shelby has some power, but consider all the gas stations as empty between Gastonia and west of there. The areas near the edges of the storm are having their stockpiles of stuff disappear quickly as people come out to get them to survive. Power is out in some instances 100 miles East of the I-26 corridor. I think the focus is on Asheville right now, understandably. This was a complete infrastructure collapse. No electric, communications, water, or gasoline. The emergency services lost all of those things as well. People don't prepare for something that they can't even comprehend happening. The best prepared Emergency Services would not be able to prepare enough. Even if they prepared for it, it would not happen for 50 years and by then become a distant illusion. Pray for the the people there, but if you have the supplies and ability to go down and campout with chain saws, food trucks, potable water trucks, or anything survival based, do so. The roads that still exist are super important to get cleared, so as to bring in supplies. Right now most things will be getting pretty scarce. People are starting to loot during the daytime. There is not enough of the structure left to keep law and order if things get very desperate. There literally needs to be an army of people cutting trees from roads right now.
@@s679I26 west (north) is open from Asheville to Johnson City. You have to take a detour around a bunch of bridges that are out. This is a car route only.
I live near Columbia and work in the east half of the state, but this hurricane has been hellacious. Seeing the Congaree swell way beyond its banks is scary.
The first time is usually the worse, except I was in a Typhoon and thought it was a bad storm until informed it wasn't just a bad storm. Or the straight wind that hit my sister's town while I was visiting, thought it was just a lot of wind. I don't mind in the least that I have never seen a tornado.
Helene was still a hurricane until it reached Tennessee. It was a category 1; at least; when it came through my area of North Carolina. The wind blew so hard, the rain went sideways. I was here during Hugo too. Hugo did more tree damage. We've had a number of storms this year that downed trees. If not for that, I'm sure our tree damage would have been worse. Like you, I also live in an area that looses power frequently.
I had a Facebook friend in Asheville, NC who commented that she "moved to the mountains so she didn't have to worry about hurricanes" when that tropical storm warning went out last week. I thank God that she's safe but her beautiful neighborhood is all but destroyed by falling trees.
Still without power in the upstate but the crews are doing a great job with repairs. My buddy north of Bakersville, NC is without road access in any direction.
That's crazy. I live 40 miles east of Atlanta and almost nothing happened here. We thought we were going to get the worst if it but it just kept moving east. We just got like 4 inches of rain. Wind was barely noticeable.
Same. I'm at lake Oconee and it was weak. I delivered supplies to family in Augusta today. I was completely shocked. It's very bad. They had some big tornadoes. It's a disaster
Most of the coverage are on Florida, NC, GA, but we in SC got hit pretty bad too. I live in Boiling Springs and never seen nothing like this. We moved here from RI.
I remember an ice storm we had here in 2002 power was out 2 weeks. And all you could hear all night everywhere was trees snapping and falling, i was in a 95 year old house with 5 pecan trees bout 80 years old around it.
@@brandonpennington1983 I'll NEVER forget that ice storm. Our power was out and we don't have a generator or other heating source. I honestly thought we'd freeze to death. We couldn't get out of the house to go to a relatives house, because of the two-three inches of solid ice everywhere. To step outside was to risk life and limb. Plus, our cars were encased in ice. I hope I NEVER have to experience anything like that again. We had ice forming on the inside of windows. My daughter and I put on layers of clothes, knitted hats and gloves, multiple pairs of socks, piled all our blankets on one bed, and slept together for warmth.
Another thing about this hurricane, up until about 6 p.m. on Thursday, Helene was forcast to make landfall in Apalachicola and proceed through Tallahassee, Atlanta, the N C. mountains and Tennessee. I track hurricanes as a past time and I was at work that evening and checked my phone during my break, and I observed a wobble of the eye towards the notheast and I said to myself, " shit, it's going into Cedar Key, which means it'll come straight over Charlotte, N.C. and areas to the west. Which is exactly what it did.

The only thing that came close to tropical storm Helene in Upstate SC was the Tornado that blew across I-85 in Spartanburg. It struck the Spartanburg Community College and the old mill across the interstate highway
The Middle Saluda covered 288 between Marietta and Pumpkintown and the South Saluda closed one lane of SC 11 for a while. Two things a first to see. Still without power now. This is in Pickens county SC for those not living in upstate SC.
You just said it. Interstate 40 not trees blocking the road. The whole danged road is just plain gone. Wherever a creek or river was along side the road, or crossed under the road,, just plain gone. bridges collapsed, It will be a decade before it is all repaired and reopened.

I have never been through anything like that storm, so much devastation. My thoughts are with you.
It's been crazy. Thank you 🙏
I'm in Easley, SC and a week later we still have no power and no Internet. National Guard is here handing out water and MRE's to anyone who wants/needs it.
Still no power here either. That's good that the NG is there helping out. I hope you and your family are doing well 🙏
Blessed Thanks for sharing Best to you and your neighbors from California
Thank you 🙏
A good report of actual storm results. I wish you well in the clean-up and recovery.
Thanks. I really appreciate it 👊
Thank you for taking us with you to explore the damage in your area .
No problem. Thank you for taking your time to watch 🙏
Bought a generator 4-years ago...What a life saver it has been when this storm hit South Carolina. $30+ dollars a day to use propane.
This is one of the best videos I have seen so far with the after the storm from ground view. You did a great job to show those if us whom is not there. I have been watching videos of anyone who posts in hope that I can do at least this to help.
Thank you! I just wanted to show what is going on in my little part of the country. For some reason it seems like the media isn't showing much about what is really going on in these areas. Thank you for watching. 🙏
I'm just down the road between Honea Path and Donalds, we got quite the mess to clean up here. Very fortunate to just have a mess here after seeing what's going on in the mountains. Great vid!
The scenes from the mountains are absolutely heartbreaking.
I'm sorry about your home. I hope the other trees stay upright. 🙏
Thanks. The scenes from NC are absolutely heartbreaking. It's going to take a long time to get back to normal.
Glad to have found something covering an
area I sorta know. My husband is from around here and you were on a road he takes to work everyday. We live down around Iva and it was similar down here. So many down trees and lines. Thank you for covering what you did.
No problem. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.
Praying for y’all here in Charleston. Sending water and supplies, hope it helps. God bless you all!
Thank you very much. NC and east TN need all the help they can get. 🙏👊
Thank you and I’m so glad your home is safe. I hope you all get power on soon. Stay strong!!
Thank you 🙏
Thankful you didn't have much damaged. Bless you!
Thank you 🙏
Man, what's crazy is that you'd normally think a hurricane is going to do the most damage at the coastal communities, but this one was so much more devastating as a tropical storm, what- 300 or 400 miles further up North? I heard 20" to 30" of rain in 18 hours in some parts. That's more than a whole year's worth of rain for most parts of the country. Crazy...
Yeah western NC got absolutely hammered with rain. Worst flooding they've ever had. A lot of those people lost everything

You're young...i was in Spartanburg when Hugo came through, and I don't think I've ever seen harder rainfall...hurricanes just make a d@mn mess...
Yup they cancelled school that day. Remember it like yesterday.

I'm glad to hear that you didn't have much going on around you 🙏
Lived in Fla on the coast all my life and seen 70 mph winds a few times. Its definitely no joke. We're all praying for y'all.
@@donaldhersey1529 thanks 🙏
Glad everyone is safe down that way. Unfortunately there are areas in the mountains that have been geographically changed by this storm and will take months or years even to get back to normal. Lost a car to an oak tree but everyone is safe and no damage to the house so all is well. Good luck to yall thanks for the video
It's heartbreaking to see all the damage in NC and TN. We have family up there and thankfully they are safe. I'm glad to hear that you are safe. 🙏
Pretty nice ride 😊 thanks 🙏🏻
Pleasant voice and mannerisms 👏🏼🥳
Thanks 👊
Thanks for the tour. Gezzzzz. Glad you're safe.
No problem. Thanks. We are definitely blessed that nothing got damaged
I’m sorry for all the loss of life and damage. I live very near Galveston. I fear every storm that brews near us. I hope you and yours do well.
Thank you. We are blessed not to have any damage to our house but the folks in NC and TN and dealing with major damage.
I'm in Kentucky northeast and goodness we've never had a tropical storm in KY that I know of, not in my lifetime. 70 plus mph wind it was wicked, kinda scary really.
It was nerve racking. Crazy weather I've ever had to deal with.
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate it 🙏
We live in the Mayo/Chesnee/Cowpens area of the Upstate and we got destroyed!
I'm happy to hear that y'all are safe. It was a terrible storm and I'm heartbroken over all the damage and families that all lost everything.
Praying for all y’all 🙏🏾
Thank you. 🙏
Dam..take care. I grew up there. Living IBX NC now. We got a little weather here. Prayers to everyone. Still have plenty of friends and family in upstate SC and NC.
Thanks. Hopefully all your friends and family are safe
I’m in Clover still no electricity but I’m thankful for everyone being safe and praying for the people further north. My daughter is stranded in Asheville but was safe as of yesterday but no cell service
We still don't have power either. I'm glad your daughter is safe 🙏
I grew up in Coastal NC and one of my best friends lives in Pickens/Easly SC, it was cut off up there before the storm. We came back from fishing in Alaska one year he took me up into the mountains to meet a guy the call wolf man, what a character :D.
Good job on the video. Thanks for posting.
Thank you. 🙏
I'm glad it didn't get bad there
Appreciare the tour.
I'm up on lake glenville and have a son and his family in pendleton. we both got our power back and all is well , i'm from Florida and you never really get used to it. But this is going to take some time to get cleanen up for sure. Thanks for posting and i love the 990, i'm roling around on v stroms, making due. Take care.
I'm happy that y'all are doing well. It will probably be years before NC gets back to some type of normal. Thanks. I love my 990 but I have owned 2 V-stroms and loved them too
hope life gets back to normal fast . great rolling on the scooter to catch the footage. enjoy it and #livetoride
Thanks me too. Still no power and Duke energy is estimating that it will be Friday before we get power back 😞
I was born in Greenville lived at Paris mt then moved to Myrtle beach in the mid 80s.

@@TheBeardedGrump The savivors, even if not at loss, what wil they do. So many budinesses are destroyed and the buildings will have to be torn completely down. I live in Inman, SC, lots of fallen trees and power lines but luckily we got our power back on Sunday. Probably one of the first few.
We still don't have power. The estimated time is Sunday.
@@TheBeardedGrump try reporting any damaged power lines near by on the electrical company website. I did that and I think it helped.
If this had happened on the coast of SC, people would be concerned about alcohol and adderall shortages.
Dang 😂
Fentanyl shortage in Asheville gonna be brutal
It was definitely scary and I'm happy to hear that you and your family are safe.
We aren’t making fun. We completely understand and our hearts go out for everyone up there
Thank you so much 🙏
Thanks for posting. I'm up here in VA mountains & so fortunate that we didn't get hit nearly as hard as ya'll and NC. Has anyone confirmed if Asheville road access is completely cut off? I've heard that there's a state route road that is still passable but not sure.
I just saw that Asheville has a way in and out.

Man dude, glad your ok down there, I feel for ya.'', hopefully Timmy is good also!
Thanks. Timmy is doing well also 👊
Helene was still a hurricane until it reached Tennessee.
I'm glad you are safe. Living in areas with lots of trees is scary when big storms hit.
I had a Facebook friend in Asheville, NC who commented that she "moved to the mountains so she didn't have to worry about hurricanes" when that tropical storm warning went out last week. I thank God that she's safe but her beautiful neighborhood is all but destroyed by falling trees.

Those trees around your house protected it💯
Another thing about this hurricane, up until about 6 p.m. on Thursday, Helene was forcast to make landfall in Apalachicola and proceed through Tallahassee, Atlanta, the N C. mountains and Tennessee.
It was strange how it changed direction so fast.
