Best of Northern Norway: 7 Places to Visit in the Norwegian Arctic

Over the past few years, I’ve spent a lot of time up in the Norwegian Arctic. Why? Because this part of Norway never fails to amaze me. Northern Norway is nothing short of breathtaking, perhaps the most picturesque region in the country, rivaled only by the famous fjords. But what makes it truly special? I’d say there are three standout reasons to visit: the landscapes, the culture, and the nor...

This is Norway’s Hjørundfjord. Join me on a boat trip down the Hjørundfjord and judge for yourself if this is Norway’s most beautiful fjord. I sailed down the 33 km long fjord on a charter boat trip from Ålesund. The historic vessel MS Bruvik took us to the Hjørundfjord, and it was the ideal boat for such a trip. In this video you’ll see both the boat and some of the epic landscape we saw in an...

I had been planning on moving to Norway in the long term future but it’s seeming more and more like things are escalating to a point where I might have to do it sooner. Just grateful to have an easily transferable skill as an accountant. I have pets tethering me here for now though.
It looks so good. Why people don't live there?
I was in the city with boat was very nice
If possible please make a video of the remaining places you said at the end❤
I made the same face as the angry boy after hearing about my couch on the balmoral 😂
Great video. It's so informative peppered with useful tips and I enjoyed your crisp narration. All the best to your channel - you deserve more views and likes!
Thank you. I really enjoyed watching this video. 😊
Very good summsry, and nice!

I’m an American wheelchair user who is hoping to move to Oslo for retirement. (I can support myself and intend to buy insurance so as not to be a burden on the national healthcare system.) I’m wondering about how accessible Oslo is. I would love a video on how disabled folks experience Norway and the city in general. Ty!
You should make a video on the huge architectural debate happening in Oslo right now. You featured some of the bleak Oslo skyline at 1:13. Oslo is beginning to look more and more like the LAX area of Los Angeles. It's a horrible version of modernism that lacks any creativity and most importantly, beauty.
I laughed when I saw Grumpy last summer. Reminds me of kids today, everywhere!
Wow...beautiful🤩👍👍
Very interesting to be able to visit and learn about distant places...thanks! Greetings from Italy👍👍
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
As a US citizen can I just show up and be taken care of like non US citizens do in my country, seriously?
Please stop promoting more blue haired woke people to move here, we have too many of them already. Besides, good luck trying to privately set up shop to produce anything here outside state subsidised farmed "fish", with our extensive bureau crazy and multi layer tax levels. You´ll find brand new level amounts of paperworks and permit qualification demands, to be allowed to do Anything outside tinkering with parts import based tertiary service trades or import sales. We barely have any export productions here as it is (exceptions; Stateowned Hydro power and Petro). The few we have/had, has already left, bankrupted or are flagging out for the very same metioned reasons. If you are some kind of medic, petro or electro engineer, or yet another soulless bureaucrat, you stand a good chance of getting a state or state delivering company job.
Was going to do this cruise..but honestly watching this no way
Glad I could help!

Hello from Finland! 🇫🇮 Subscribed to your channel. Your content is top-notch! 🎉
Welcome aboard! 🇫🇮 🇳🇴
Hello. I will be travelling from Tromsø to Stamsund in January 2025, and the journey starts at midnight. It is nearly 20 hours of traveling. I am actually on a budget, so in your opinion, should I go for the less expensive deck space ticket or book a cabin? Is there any place for the deck passengers to relax and take a nap? How difficult is it in winter for the deck passengers?
Everyone is different when it comes to sleeping so I really can’t say! Personally I wouldn’t never take an overnight trip without booking a cabin, but that’s just me.
Just did the trip at the end of December, would strongly recommend against it. The cruise itself was fine but not having any daylight after crossing the arctic circle makes the cruise a bit pointless unless you are just using it to travel from A to B.
That’s fair, although I’m not sure what else you were expecting during the polar night period! Personally I wouldn’t do the trip any earlier than I did in early Feb. Then you get a good combination of some daylight with winter scenery. Thanks for watching! 🙌
@@lifeinnorway1yer it’s my own bad for not researching properly. I think however it’s important to mention what you just stated in your video, or maybe you did and I didn’t see it.

Norway acted like non-humans according to morality and like criminals according to law...Refuses to Rescue Russian Sailors in Mediterranean..
The mountains and the ocean are very scenic. The houses though, are tacky and uninspiring. All the building materials have to be imported, so that probably explains why they're so basic in their structure. Certainly no Florence or Rome. However it's much tidier than Barrow in Alaska. Barrow is a depressing dump, and is even tackier than Longyearbyen. I wouldn't live in either.

Hello, I am a Bulgarian living in Turkey. I have many reasons for seeking asylum, such as race, religion, politics. I want to go to Norway for a while to save money and after I have accumulated the necessary financial savings, I want to get a visa and seek asylum in the USA. Do you have any advice?
I have no idea about moving to the US, sorry

Hi from Finland! 👋 Subscribed to your channel after discovering it today. Really appreciate your videos-thanks a lot!
Thanks so much, welcome! 🙌
An interesting visit outside the town is to head nearby to Skarsvag, a very small fishing village. It has a small Christmas shop with distinctive local crafts and warm tea and snacks. It also offers a view of fishing village life apart from proximity to a cruise terminal. My wife wound up holding a huge king crab for a memorable picture.
Thanks for the tip! 🙌

Thanks for the useful video. We travel on the Trollfjord in February so starting to get excited. A question for you, what kind of electrical adapters are needed in the cabins? Were from the UK so am assuming we will need adapters, maybe the European two pin kind?
Yes EU power sockets. Have a great trip! 🙌
