In this dire hour rife with political and social uncertainty, a planet that is rapidly deteriorating, everything becoming stuck behind a paywall or in a damn subscription model, we need a hero. Nay, we require a hero. And who knew that that hero would come in the form of a little black and white beagle, whose best friend is an unfortunate bald boy, and has the alias Joe Cool, or more commonly k...

    This video showing up for me the day after coming back from my vacation to Japan where I bought like 8 Snoopy plushies 🤣 Peanuts specials are always one of the highlights of my holidays, and now that life as an adult is hard, Peanuts is so special to me. It reminds me of childhood in such a nostalgic and cozy way. Peanuts makes me feel safe <3

    I’ve been around peanuts stuff for my whole life, since I live right next to Cedar Point, so I have an extremely good appreciation for the peanuts comics and specials. I love getting to see and buy the merchandise too! I love the peanuts characters a lot, but my favorite has to be Snoopy’s sister Belle! She’s so cute!!!

    i was born 2 months before 9/11 in south africa; it's always surreal to hear the people in my life recounting where they were/how they heard about the event over the television, something that had only really been accessible to the broader public since 1994 in my country. i often think about my friends who were born in the '90s, just before and after the advent of democracy in south africa, and how 9/11 reinforced stereotypes, harmful rhetoric & how this became intertwined with media. thank you for this video!

    Never was too big into Snoopy or Peanuts, but my grandma loved collecting Snoopy stuff, and i visited her quite a bit for holidays. I vividly remember the snoopy shaped christmas tree lights and Peanuts calendar on the fridge. She's not around anymore, but my aunt lives in the house and keeps all the Snoopy stuff on a shelf. Maybe i should add something to it

    Snoopy lives in his own bubble! Or least he does, to an extent. He acts out, and then gets embarrassed, when he realizes others are watching. I'm mostly basing this observation on the Christmas special, where he starts off dancing around, while Schroeder's playing the piano, and then realizes that others are looking! Then, he starts blushing! 🤣He's extremely self-aware.

    The tragedy of Claudia is that she was never the first choice. When they killed Lestat, Louis chose him over her by letting him survive. Lestat chose Louis over her when he forced her back from the train and when he stole her death from her, both of which he did in the hope of keeping Louis at his side and happy. Then again, Louis chose Armand over her when she joined the coven. And even with her teue death, Lestat chose to save Louis over her. The only person who ever put her first ended up sentenced to death with her. And thw thing is, I know Lestat would still choose to save Louis over her if he had to make the same choice again. If he had to pick between the two, Louis will always come first.

  • @Cat-dq1zp
    @Cat-dq1zp วันที่ผ่านมา

    I always thought it was obvious that Lestat never attended the trial for revenge or out of anger or hatred. He left Louis and Claudia alone for all these years, despite being able to locate them at any point if he wanted to, so why only come back for retribution now? I just knew, the only reason he would have answered Armand and the coven's call would be because they threatened Louis. And then I read the book, and I find out Armand starved and tortured him to get him to cooperate, and even then Lestat resisted 😭😭

    6:54 In addition to the question of the origins of the term "Peanut Gallery" itself, the fact that it arrived via Howdy Doody is itself problematic: my mother loved the show as a kid, but when watching clips of it on TH-cam decades later, she discovered, to her distress, that it included blackface as "humor", which had entirely gone over her head as a kid.

      That said, given the "the meek will inherit the Earth" vibes of the comic, I don't think that a name that reflects how the characters are perceived by those around them is entirely uncalled for. Even though it's not how the audience should see the characters, it helps establish that the characters are downtrodden.
