Man, snagging Martin right out of the gate and showing off the professional hand written notes. Is that saying this series is a crisp clean and refined machine unlike the album you talked about?
Well! Good question! The second episode went about the same length. We shall see!
Funny show. Lot of cool info and opinions. I like this album too
Thanks Brother! Yeah it was great having Martin to kick it off!
John, I love your Channel. Very cool talk here!! Blessings my friend!!! 😇😇😇
Thank you my friend!
Good morning all! I don't know any Accept before Balls to the Wall, so I won't have much to add.
Nice to hear things from your point of view and for the shout out :)
You rock!
Fantastic episode and people! You cats rock! My favorite Accept record is Breaker. Love them!
Great beginning to a great series and a great band 😎🎼💯🔥⚡🎸🎙️
I love Accept and obviously they havent found their sound with this very weak album. Only decent track is Lady Lou. 3.5/10
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, views and motivation, John.
Thank you for watching Henry!
YCSR&R is the best TS lp imo
It’s up there for me! UtB is still my favorite but YCSR&R is up there.
Nice list. Mine always changes but my number 1 always stays the same. 1 W.A.S.P. 2 Golgotha 3 Inside the Electric Circus 4 Babylon 5 The Crimson Idol 6 Dominator 7 The Headless Children 8 The Last Command 9 The Neon God: Part 1 - The Rise 10 The Neon God: Part 2 - The Demise 11 Unholy Terror 12 Still Not Black Enough 13 Dying for the World 14 Helldorado 15 Kill Fuck Die
Great ranking! I’m pretty sure some of my list will change but I’m sure my favorite ones will never change. Thanks for watching!
@@MyMusicCorner Just discovered your channel. Looking forward to watching all your W.A.S.P. videos 😀👍
Love your stuff, cannot wait for Accept series.... I was a late fan of the band. Great choice!
I wonder myself why I post videos. But like you touched upon it is good therapy in a way. Forget about real world problems and instead think about what is your favourite " Accept " album. Much more fun!.
It really is therapy in a strange way! Yeah, I'm looking forward to the Accept series! Thanks for the comment!
I will give you crap for not having any Motorhead, but you're one of my favorites, all meant in fun. Hope you feel like doing more art rock!
I do have Ace of Spades and No Sleep Till Hammersmith so I have a tiny bit. I'm sure if I had gotten to see Motorhead back in 97 with W.A.S.P., it would have been a different story. But, the show was cancelled. Maybe in 2025 I can dig in a little more to Motorhead. As far as art rock? We'll see what comes up in 2025 once we're done with Accept.
@@MyMusicCorner Those are my two favorites from the Fast Eddie years. Lots of strong later albums: Snake Bite Love, Sacrifice, Overnight Sensation, Inferno, Bastards, We Are Motorhead.
@@grumqa I remember having the No Remorse cassette back in the day but I couldn’t tell you if I played it more than once. I had too much to listen to and not enough time to listen to it because I was a part of a great community of friends that got together after our work so I collected but didn’t listen to as much.
I have only heard one accept album. Balls. Will be interesting to hear about and get into their catalogue.
You have a good channel that i didnt discover long ago and i still have to see many of your old videos. Keep them coming.
Thank you my friend!!
I think there's some good channels and some bad ones..but that's my opinion, but u johnny you do you..your channel your choice... remember..the three C's.. content, creativity, communication. 😎👍🎼💯🖲️✌️🫵✊
Absolutely my friend! Thank you Brother!
i think this lp's style is about 4 years to late. '82-'83 it would've been a bigger hit. music landscape had completely changed by '87. SMF4Life!
Hi, John! Your work here - and on other channels - is very much appreciated. For example, it’s great that you had a different take for the “Cracks” show on GRW. Of course, not every commenter agreed but what else is new? Haters gonna hate, right? Sigh. Let ‘em drink their Haterade and be miserable. I thought your WASP pick was interesting due to the whole album cover scenario. “The debut album shows a band, the very next record is one person.” A unique point of view, extremely cool. Not everyone can agree on everything, just look at our nutty planet for proof positive of that! Thanks for having me on your channel a few times during your Year of the Priest series. I’d like to return the favor and have you on my channel, later this year, for my Top Twelve Tunes series. We’ll pick an artist - or band - and go from there. Keep up the fine work you do here and elsewhere and just be yourself. That’s why all the cool cats dig you… because you’re you! I’m looking forward to the new series, starting tomorrow, with you and John the MusicNut on Accept. Cheers from The Big Apple. Rock Out, Prog On & Pogo! Your clone and mine, ~ The Far Too Serious, Mysterious, Delirious Doppelgänger of Davey Cretin, from CRETIN CLASSICS.
Thanks Davey! I always try to be a little more of the odd man out sometimes in my thoughts but hopefully they make sense to someone. :)
Keep up the great work. Im ready to Accept the new series which is going to be awesome
I believe it will be! Thanks so much!!
“Comes from the heart” - Well said! 🤘🏻. This thread is fun to watch!
It's very true! I don't go into a lot of these videos with a script and notes. I have ideas written down and I go from there. Thank you Brother!
There is something about chainsaws that are visually very cool. However when you actually operate one, it’s not as fun or as cool as you had fantasized about. Looking forward to this episode and series guys. Accept is a great band and some of their album covers alone are worth an episode of discussion.
Ha ha, so true. Sort of like snowmobiles.
Love supertramp!
While Drama may be often overlooked or thought of missing that certain little something to make it an instant Yes classic, this is a very good album and one that I feel plays a necessary part in the band's story. I know some purist listeners could be turned off by the lack of Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman (who some would consider the powerhouses of Yes), but the band has always had a revolving cast. While the songs take on a different structure in terms of Yes tunes, they are very good rock songs with strong progressive elements. In particular, the opening and closing tracks offer the best ear-meal.
Good record
Definitely a favorite of mine from the band. Thanks for watching!
I always thought that Drama really gave Yes that kick in the ass that it needed to get out of the '70's. Really great songs and drummer Alan White sounded inspired and powerful.
Enjoyed the discussion, guys. I've known the group for ages and even have a Best of CD but have only listened to albums like this in their entirety once or twice at the most so this makes me think it's about time for a deep dive!
Thanks for the shout-out guys! After having five years of playing these songs live they really settled into them, and they are performed with much more muscle and thunder on the Paris album. The Paris version of "Crime of the Century" is one of the very best pieces of recorded music ever made (only my opinion, of course). Supertramp released four albums after Roger left, and all of them are great (again, my opinion). 🙂 You don't have to choose a side, but I am certainly on Team Davies when it comes to Supertramp.
The title track is pure gold but still preferred the more commercial Breakfast In America album better
Morning guys! I confess... I never have been a Supertramp fan. I remember opening the Record Store and the boss playing this band, it just never appealed to me.
Scott Gorham also played on Brother where you bound ( a great great album) and David Gilmour played on the title track of that album. 1985, first album without RH although Roger says he had a hand in helping to craft some of the songs.
Just to add that release will be on vinyl and cassette. Not sure of other formats.
Paris is being re-released in Jan 2025 as part of the series of 50th anniversary projects for COTC.
I do not know anything from this band just the name. But you guys have sold me on adding it to my listen list this week.
Great record. But I think it was supposed to be Dee's solo record but TS was still under contract.
Yes, Atlantic made Dee do it as TS. We talked more about that in the next episode of TS we had done.
Really enjoyed this. Crisis is my favorite record of theirs, but this one is really strong. Always like your deep dives.
Super appreciate that!
Dee snider said it supposed to be his solo album
Great album. Brutal
I have never heard it.
A classic but songs on this are played out. Still prefer Flick of the Switch as my fav Johnson era album.
On the next episode:Whats going on with Mark "The Animal" Mendoza's hair?
Ha! Yeah I got nothing there!
Loved the very first Under the Blade original album mix - second mix sounded crap. Up to 1984 they were killer!
Excellent show, men! This was a very cool episode. Indeed. Indubitably. I have so much to say, but I’ll try and keep it brief. Number one, so l don’t write a novel. Number two, since I’m at work. I feel that Tomato 🍅 is a good Yes album, just not a great one. It’s marred by a few factors: Wakeman’s new keyboards were fighting with Howe’s guitars for sonic space; the songs were not as good as their previous platter; and, they really needed an outside producer. Self-producing the album with five different hands on the faders, twiddling the knobs for domination? Ridiculous. If memory serves, Drama was the first NEW Yes album l bought upon its release. I had heard “Does it Really Happen?” and “Tempus Fugit” on New York FM rock radio, so l went out and purchased the vinyl. I soon began to buy the back catalog and Yes has been my favorite band for over forty years now. Sadly, l did not see them on this tour. My first Yes tour was 90125, in 1983/4. Since then, I’ve seen them tour every studio album at least once; except the two most recent ones. I think I’ve seen them perform live more than any other band; the two closest would be Styx and Dream Theater. I had acquaintances, in school, who DID see the Drama tour and l was quite jealous. Bummer, dudes. In America, most fans had no clue about the lineup change. Here, it wasn’t such a big deal. However, in the UK, it WAS a major issue and many fans took umbrage because Jon Anderson wasn’t singing the songs. I always felt that was one of the biggest factors that hastened this lineups demise. The intense, intuitive, instrumental interplay of the musicians is incredible on the record! It’s almost like they had something to prove - which, of course, they did - and man, did they ever! This has ALWAYS been a top tier Yes album, in my book. HOWEver, many fans said, “No Jon, no Yes.” And this was back in 1980! This record has definitively been reappraised over the ensuing decades and NOW many see it as a great release under the Yes banner/umbrella. That was not the whole story in 1980, hence the short - initial - run of this configuration of the group. No duff tracks on display on Drama. Steve Howe is not on “White Car,” that’s all Downes. Perhaps, even the timpani sounds. Nice call on these five groovy cats coming back to reconvene for the rerelease of Fly From Here. Another great point that The MusicNut brought up was cool, too. The 1983 band WAS supposed to be called Cinema, Atlantic Records pushed for it to be released under the Yes moniker. Trevor Rabin didn’t sign up to replace Steve Howe in Yes, he joined a collective of former Yes members under a completely different name. It was all record company interference and it’s bugged - not Buggled - Steve Howe for over forty years now. I guess I’ll end my diatribe here. Keep up the groovilicious work, lads. Rock Out, Prog On and Pogo, Yo! Your clone and mine, ~ The Delicious, Delirious Doppelgänger of Davey Cretin, from CRETIN CLASSICS.
Frank Zappa Apostrophe album is celebrating a anniversary and getting a Boxset supposedly
Great video about one of my all time favorite albums! I shared it on my Philly Prog FB group!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
Good morning fellas!
Good morning! Watching your unboxing video at the moment.
Great series on a killer band that burned out way too soon.
Nice John!! I only one one "best of" which I think is enough for me, but I will consider checking some of these out.
Great show! For me: 1. Manic Nirvana 2. The Principle of Moments 3. Carry Fire 4. Now and Zen 5. Raising Sand (with Alison Krauss) 6. Mighty Rearranger 7. Shaken and Stirred 8. Pictures at Eleven 9. Fate of Nations 10. Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar 11. Raise the Roof (with Alison Krauss) 12. The Honeydrippers, Vol.1 (The Honeydrippers) 13. Dreamland 14. Band of Joy
