Basic (very) manual transmission foot pedals: Reverse, 1st-3rd, extra gear downshift explained.

I teach mechanics at a technical college now; realized many of my younger students haven't driven manual transmission vehicles. Probably less than 4% of the cars on the road today in the U.S. are outfitted with a manual transmission and a clutch pedal assembly. It's harder than you think to drive, shift, and talk; with your legs unnaturally far apart for a go pro view btw.lol

Hello brother, i have Fx37 2010 year. It show my p1090 code i need some help. Thank you
Is there is a ground for the tranny?
How can you tune with the VVEL system? Also, if you do play with the internals does it mess with this system? Also, thoughts about running that set up with no forced induction but an ITB setup? Does it have customs valves and valve springs?
I am so happy i found this series! I’m bored of 600 wheel on my supercharged 370 and also really really want to learn to build a motor.
You have all the knowledge good videos !!!
@CBLifeHacks i thank u brother 🙏
What's the max hp on the stock fuel rails
Whats the max hp with the stock rails
@joelflores7274 not sure....but, this particular runs around 850whp all the time...so,, that's as far as I personally have seen on stock rails.
This video made me realize how similar the vr38 is to a vq35de timing wise almost the same
I was wondering what the lock you where referring to until you pointed it out.
Can you show how that part fits in relation to the valve system? Your assumption is that everyone who is watching has an indepth knowledge of the system.
It be best to show a picture of the geometric issue.
Hey are you still here I need help
@@Shakdadon what u got going on?
hey bro what caind a sleve you use to put the tee together on the a oil regulator I got a nismo twin turbo same sistem complete AAM please let me know what caind a feting you use tks nise info.
Is there a way to verify the timing once the cover is back on? I did gallery gaskets to this method, but am having major issues with the motor pulling timing, crazy up and down cycling fuel trims at idle, and having no cam advance (-64) and I wanted to verify the timing was set correctly before having to take the front cover off again.
@MagnumX2000 u didn't get vtc solenoid harness backwards?...sort of...but u still have to pull the front vtc covers off...sounds like u may want to inspect the vtc oil control shaft covers triple dynamic seals while in there
@ I don't believe so. Is it possible to install the harness backwards? It's easy enough to pull off the cam covers though so even though I installed new seals on each I can check again
Great video. It’s hard to find information like this. I want to supercharge for 600 whp and I can’t find someone doing it without blowing up for more than 30k miles on stock internals. I think the open deck and rods are what is the failing point for most.
@@shawnb50 an accurate assessment imo
Dude you've saved me thank you! My car randomly didn't start today or started and sputtered out. I got a slightly different code saying it couldn't communicate with the fpcm but all in all seems to be the same issue. I'm trying to fix it now! Thanks for all the help. I couldn't find anything else anywhere online.

Hi mate, what are some of the symptoms for this as I don't have a computer to check yet, we did a manual swap in a few bits and pieces to the engine and the cars all of a sudden backfiring like crazy on idle. I'm yet to pull it up at a mate's shop to check anything properly

Hello bro How much is the last HP you can get vq37 N/A engine
We have several options for building a high hp VQ these days. The biggest mistake I see these days is in the turbo selection and the turbo kit itself. No off the shelf turbo kit is safe for over 800whp. Back in 2018 when I first started my build the information was hard to come by. You would get the Unicorn builds where the car would hit a dyno, make a number, and then disappear. Finding out what happened to their engine and how it was built was the challenge. I have been through it. It has not been fun or kind to my wallet.
@@spooler7828 accurate statement^
@@sethjoyner391 Who's motors have you built? Wondering if I know who they are and what power level they are at.

@nickyeary4960 yea, I had already rotated the engine...indicators on sprockets are correct but chain links will be off in the video
1087, 1090 codes for bank 1. Unopened motor all vvel data on ecutek reads proper. Could this be something as silly as throttle body, no throttle, slight rough idle. Throttle doesn’t exceed 1.2k rpm
@patrickaubuchon8025 sounds like fuel pump, fuel delivery problem to me
with such power and Wiseco pistons, what clearance do you do and what gap on the rings? 😎
Loving these videos dude omg Are you performing any head work with the vhr. Or are they reassembled in stock form ?
@patrickaubuchon8025 i had a lot of porting my early days...there are a few minor things that could be done to get more speed and volume with a NA stroker setup

Can the transfer case be taken apart or separated from the transmission when still on the car? Can I remove the transfer case and still leave the transmission on the car?
@skytech_00 I don't think so...especially because it has to slide perfectly square onto the trans
@@sethjoyner391 I am saying this because my awd solenoid is leaking and I don't have a resolution to the leak
Hey i know this video is old. But how do you replace the intake cam seals do they just come out with a flat head or do you have to take the top off the cam seals and just pull up on them?
@SuperLow_F4i small dental pick...they come off easily (they're dynamic "split" seals)
Do you have a baseline of where the stock heads are at? Maybe an old head you could do a video on about how many turns they are stock? Engine builder loosened all mine
Bro! You seem to really know these motors! Where are you located? I have an 1606 vvel code and it went into limp mode 1500rpms. Shut it off and started back up fine with the service engine light on. It has 1606 and 1024 as permanent codes. If you’re close I’ll bring it to you to fix
@co10boy what year, model, miles, mods etc?
2010 370z base model. 90,000 miles, Manual transmission, bone stock!
@co10boy u need to look at live data, and you want to send me a video of all of the vvel and vtc parameters...a lot of the earlier cars had vvel module failures (located behind the fuse box, behind the battery)
mmm lucky pedals
Proud of you for deciding to try a career move, I know you’ll be a great teacher! Congrats on the new gig!
@Aidan.Sheahan awww, thank u brother...yea, this is 💯 more rewarding🤗😇
Is the dimension for the gap in reference from the inner wall for the spring gap, or are you measuring to the little collar just above it?
Not sure if you’re still active on here… but my car just started to have issues with bank 2 VVEL. Out of no where. I have to disconnect the battery for it to work properly again then maybe 40-50 miles later light comes back on an no throttle response what can it be?
It’s a 2010 Nissan 370z 6 speed never have been into the valve train only regular maintenance
Would an issue with the vvel cause a no start condition?
@thatsubae not imo...I think it would probably be more related to a crank sensor or the dreaded bank 1 intake sprocket encoder slippage (mechanical failure) wherein the bank 1 intake cam sensor can't identify the reference point for the mag pickup.
@@sethjoyner391 gotcha i have a car on my side jobs. I identified the timing off, corrected the timing with new chain and tensioner, put everything together and still wont start, will start if I unplug the cam sensor
@@thatsubae yup....dooo it

@@TheHaywood1 what was the color or condition of the trans fluid atm
I watched most of your videos... and most of anything else I could find. I installed an A2A SC kit and the heads lifted. The machine shop checked and cleaned the heads and the block was good. I meticulously put my engine back together but I spun a rod after only 1 day. It has been sitting there since July 2023---- While I wonder how I'm going to get the money to buy forged internals and do it right. I wonder if the oil pump failed or if something got caught in the pickup tube... I'm thinking it had an oil pressure issue. Why the Hell don't they put oil pressure gages on these things? I will be watching all of these videos. I wonder if it is the AMS crank pulley that threw off the natural rotational balance 🤔 I'm thinking I need to get an ATI damper.

Hey Seth great videos really helped with rebuilding my timing and calibrating vvel. But please help my car won’t start and I’ve changed everything I’ve even sent it to a shop and they can’t figure it out. Basically I have a Nissan Infiniti fx37s. It stopped starting, had camshaft sensor fault. Unplugged sensor car would start. I then replaced both sensors for new oem. Car still wouldn’t start only with the left hand bank unplugged. I then took the timing cover off, there was no sign of any problems tensioners looked good soo did chains and all sprockets was on their marks. I replaced chains tensioners guides and sprockets. I also checked the vvel calibration which was good as per your video. I also changed the intake solenoids on the timing cover. Car still would not start only with left sensor unplugged. I forgot to ad the first thing I did was change oil and filter. Anyway I’ve changed all of that and it still won’t start. If the sensor is unplugged and I start it it only revs up to 3400rpm if I plug sensor in it won’t stop, if I turn it off it won’t turn on. With sensor plugged in and code’s deleted, try to start does not generate new codes anymore only when im unplugging the sensor. Please help im really confused and frustrated at this point I can only think to change intake sprocket or power control module.
Have same issue on my g37 2012 , only runs without the crank sensor I’m getting 180 psi on all 3 cylinder on bank 1 an then around 210 in bank two checked the timing everything seems to be right
Had the P069E code. Found out eventually it was the Exhaust Valve Accuators that went bad. After they were replaced, no check engine light.
