It's the INTERPRETATION AND PRECISE EXECUTION OF THE STORY BEING PRESENTED. It also can't just happen as a "once off" occasion. It doesn't matter if sohyang can hit the highest note, i still prefer Mariah Carey's voice... Singing is an art.. technique is just a tool you can use to sing a song beautifully.. technique can't save you if you sound awful and nasal 🤣🤣 sohyang overuse of twang even in midbelt to the point her tonality suffers... There is no special about her voice... All i hear is nothing but high pitch!!! Monotonous and no variety..She did so many unneccesary high notes to all her english covers that removed the essence and emotions of the song.. the song is english but sounds like the song is in korean.

In the upper belting range starting from F5 and up is Sohyang's territory. D5 though E5 is tied for me. Anything is the middle belting range lower than C#5 is Whitney's territory. I can go either way for there head voice register. The low note register is where both of them kinda slack a little for me, but they never were fully developed in that register and honestly don't really need it anyways. This is my opinion on things. 😇🥰💖🎊

Sohyang is 99% resonance, how can you say thay she is nasal? And Sohyang is absolutely better than Whitney.

Both of them are very good, but lets not forgot one uses headmix sustaining almost all notes, while Mariah uses Upper chest focused/balanced with phrasing or doing runs. Both of different types of singing. If anyone likes a tone that's high and sounds sharp or screaming powerfully go for Soh hyung, You want high note but have more weight and raspy tone with more runs go for Mariah.

If it wasn't for Mariah, Sohyang wouldn't be what she accomplished today. 1993 Music Box was her biggest influence as a singer growing up.

If I had a choice of going to one of their concerts. SoHyang would be it. She has a beautiful listening voice.

이영상은 안나오지만 머라이에 구사능력이 더풍부한데 소향 런만 많이나오는데 머라이에 풍부한음은 이영상에 없어 아쉬움 최고음 B7까지 올라가는 팝 가수나 소프라노들은 아주 드물긴 하지만 종종 있긴 한데 핵심은 최저음이 F2라는 것이다 이는 웬만한 남자가 내는 중저음을 내는 것이다 따라서 머라이어의 음역대는 엄밀하게 따지자면 콘트랄토이지만 보이스 타입은 콜로라투라 라이트 리릭 소프라노이다 중음역대도 비지 않는 데다가 거의 전 음역대를 완벽한 발성으로 구사한다는 것이 더욱 놀라운 점이다

Seriously?! Both are amazing! Sohyang's resonance is unbeatable with her high belts, especially her G5-Bb5 belts, but Mariah's whistles are amazing, she hit one of the highest notes ever live with a whistle in Emotions, she hit a G7 in that! Mariah's obviously a legend, but Sohyang has better belting technique. They are both amazing, I think Mariah narrowly wins but seriously this is one of the hardest vocal battles ever.

Yall are really ignoring the sound environments of the different singers before concluding on resonance. Sohyang sound environments and mic were obviously better than Whitney. two world class vocalists. in the end it all comes down to personal preference, because music is subjective and peoples ears respond differently to different sounds and tones. people are also much more likely to favor the person they’re familiar with rather than switch sides. i didn’t grow up with whitney houston, so i prefer sohyang, but im not about to sit here and slander whitney. it’s funny to watch people spit and insult the other singer to try and make theirs look better.

The thing about it is I've always loved Mariah but I can't think of many times I've seen her use her full range live granted this comes from not seeing all her performances I'm happy to be corrected whereas every live show I've seen Sohyang do she uses every range she possesses so I think she edges it.And just to say vision of love still gives me chills to this day.

Two of the greatest singers the earth has ever been fortunate enough to hear!

All I know is So Hyang's live performances outshine anything I've ever heard from the wonderful Mariah. So Hyang is just better to my ears and I've loved Whitney, Mariah, and many other singers. No one can make another like or dislike one's favorite. It is just silly to say they are all wrong and that one is right. It is opinion, chemistry, and how the music strikes you.

Sohyang is a vocalist, not a singer. People need to realize the difference. Vocalists literally train to have the best technique, while singers are much more artistic with their approach to singing. This isn’t to say Mariah wasn’t one of the best vocalists to ever exist, but there is certain things that you cannot compare between the two. Sohyang is a very high soprano, whose consistent upper mixed range extends farther than Mariah’s. Mariah is a Mezzo, meaning she has an easier time hitting lower notes. Also, you guys saying that “oh Sohyang is just hitting high notes” are complete hypocrites, as Mariah’s signature, is literally just a high note. The whistle register is obviously incredibly difficult to master, and everyone should give props to Mariah for being able to conquer that beast, but has she maintained her status as the best vocalist in the world? No. “Sohyang doesn’t sing with emotion”, well do you want to try adding more effects when you’re trying to hit Bb5’s in mix? That lack of emotion definitely gave Sohyang the ability to mix those incredible high notes well into her late 30’s and early 40’s. Mariah is still no doubt a great singer, but she has rapidly regressed as a vocalist. Mariah and Sohyang are both incredible at their craft, and one is definitely better at each category then the other. Just appreciate both of them.
