Catching Cod From A SIB - North Berwick, Scotland
I had a 28 pounder from there last year in the summer using a six inch rainbow trout lure
Amazing! I’ve struggled to get anything big from here, well done that’s a great fish
@@CJsReelAdventures Cheers buddy yeah I've never had anything over 5lb since
Pike on a hotdog!! Amazing lol
I couldn’t believe it!
Where abouts are you fishing
What lake u at looks nice
Hi, sorry it wouldn’t be right for me to name this loch as the people who introduced me to it probably wouldn’t be too pleased!
@@CJsReelAdventures oh it’s a loch im in south east england so wouldn’t matter anyway
Very good
Thanks!
brilliant video, lovely fish. Editing is looking class also 🙌🏻
Thanks mate! Appreciate it
Nice recording, happy days, around here in Lisbon we do catch them too
Thanks! I love catching mullet, I always look forward to targeting them when I’m on holiday
@@CJsReelAdventures Cool, must be amazing to do it around the world, im gathering some travel gear so i can do it, let me know if you come around this area
Seals here are brave at times. I had one nearly come out the water to try grab a pollock I caught not long ago. 😂
😂😂
I was down the day got 2 wee cod and 1 poor cod
Excellent! Well done. I haven’t been up this season yet but hoping to soon
Glad TH-cam showed this on my feed. Great wee video bro. I'm gonna head down there for some spearfishing after watching your session there. Cod was a lovely catch by way and pissed myself when the rod snapped. I'll keep my eyes open for your lure lol. ✌
Thanks mate i really appreciate it! Hope you get some bro! I left a lot of slow jigs around the island so you might get lucky 😂
Fish after fish after fish. Looks class
Was good fun mate, great to catch so many of anything. I’ve been so use to blanking recently
Good lure fishing
Cheers!
Great vid, thank you. Attempted to fond the mark yesterday but gave up after 2 hours walking 😂😂... must have taken a wrong turn. Ended up on the beach on the left of the second fish farm at one point....so near yet so far 😢
Thanks mate! I’m not too sure I’d be able to get back to the same bit either, I’ve only fished this mark once and it was a hard to find at the time. I also ended up walking way past it but found the rocks on the way back down
@@CJsReelAdventures its not too bad walking to this mark but the way back up the hill is a killer walk lol
What size fishing rod u using.please
Hi, this is a 10ft savage gear boat deadbaiting rod, I didn’t know what exactly I’d be catching with lures so this rod means I can cast everything pretty far. If I knew what fish would be in here and the size, I would have opted for a much lighter set up. Thanks
Whats your email address, know a good spot for conger eel
Hi I’m new to fishing and just wondering how you can tell that there is a ledge there just out there t i a
Hey, it’s hard to make out in the video but I could actually see it. I could also feel the rough depths by letting the lure sink as it was coming in. There’s some good maps available online for working out depths too such as navionics. Tight lines!
You’re lucky to have these marks. I was fishing the Cumbrian west coast last week it was like fishing in the desert. Great video 👍
I was very lucky to stumble across this one! Fishing a mark so full of life isn’t too common for me so a very welcome surprise. Thanks mate
Was the tide out 😂
Nice relaxed fishing mate 👍🏴🎣
Thanks! Was great to catch a few fish for a change
Lovely watch mate
Cheers mate!
Make sure you ask people to subscribe
I always forget to ask, next time I record a video I’ll try and remember!
You ever been to saint marys island primary?
No I haven’t
Well done. Bet your heart was in your mouth when you half netted it 😂. Fingers crossed you get one on the fly this year you never forget your first on the fly. Can't spin a lot of the rivers near me they are mostly fly only.
Yep it was 😂 going to keep on trying with it, bound to get another one eventually. Shame you can’t spin it’s a good way to get a fish when the waters not ideal for the fly
@CJsReelAdventures this is true a few pools would definitely be better spinning than fly on some of the rivers I fish. Off to the Findhorn for a week next week so fingers crossed we can bump into a few.
Awesome good luck! Definitely one I want to fish, hope you get a few
Best thing is you didn’t panic, congrats
Thanks, I got lucky with this one!
Class video mate, can’t believe u managed to get it back in the net. Lovely fish. Is that river on the forth permit too? If u don’t mind me asking.
Cheers mate! Me either 😂 unfortunately not but it is on the forth system
@@CJsReelAdventuresappreciate it mate. yes get it deleted don’t want u getting ur spot ruined. Determined I’ll get a salmon before end of the year. U got socials I can contact u on, So I can pick ur brains on salmon?
Always a pleasure watching your videos mate 👌🏻
Thanks mate I appreciate it 😊
Great day out and I'm well jealous of that cod! I'm thinking of getting a SIB for next year for a similar kind of fishing - do you have a pocket radio or anything for emergencies? Just wondering what's wise to pack.
Thanks! I have vhf radio just in case, the main thing to look out for is the wind and swell forecast, if you get a calm day you should be good. Definitely take your oars and pump out with you just in case. Life jacket and the engine killcord attached should keep you safe.
@@CJsReelAdventures Cheers, much appreciated.
Great video well done. It's so difficult not to strike on the fly for salmon especially if it's a grisle it can pull the fly out of its mouth. Tight lines for the next trip hope you manage another one on the fly.
Thanks mate, I’m struggling to remember not to strike straight away, hopefully next time I will! Cheers
@@CJsReelAdventures it's not easy when you're used to striking.
For sure!
Great video CJ . That’s why we love fishing . You never know what’s going to happen 😂… where’d you get your transom wheels? Looking for a sturdy set that are easily removable. Great cod btw
Thanks! I have beachmaster wheels, can’t remember exactly where I bought them but a lot of places have them online. They’re good wheels but fitting them was a bit tricky, each of the 4 pins have to align exactly with the holes which took a bit of time to get right!
Class man stunning fish. What’s your fly setup? Also where do you get the permits for Teith, do you have to be a local to fish it?
Thanks! In this video I was using a Shakespeare Oracle Scandi, 14.9ft 10#. Reel is a guideline Quadra with a skagit line, some people would probably advise against skagit but seems to work okay for me. This stretch of the teith is the old Stirling council water so anyone can fish it, you can get permits online from fish the forth. The Forth is included in the ticket which also has some good fishing, I’ve seen lots down there and hooked one but not managed to get a fish to the net yet
@@CJsReelAdventuresaw no way I had no idea I could fish there I’ve already got a forth permit for the sea trout. Will defo look into it. Determined to get a salmon this year
It’s just getting good! Had one last night off another river on the forth system. Good luck, spend enough time at it and it’ll happen eventually 👍
Been meaning to target this island on the sib for a while now, definitely encouraging. Well done on the pb.
I’ve fished it a few times now and always had fish, a great wee spot. Thanks mate
Well done on the 'almost' double figure cod! But if you're looking for a transducer mount... Look for the force4 'universal transducer mount'... That what we use. And it's the L bracket we use...
Thanks mate! I haven’t bought anything yet so will check that out, cheers!
The first pike was tiny but super strong😅
😂 certainly was! Always get a better fight from the jacks when the water is warmer
Great flies I tie and use these
Seemed to work good for me! I should really tie up some more
Thats some size of cod well done and almost a pb seal also 😂.
Cheers! Haha almost 😂
Cracking day out, well done on that bloody great Cod, the seal footage was fantastic, your reaction was class, truth be told I got a fricht as well 😂
Cheers mate, haha I got a proper fright! Just glad I caught it on camera
get a ugly stick bro look at the reviews epic rod ,an and only like 50 quid great fishing
I think I’ll get one of them for my next sib trip, need something that’s not going to snap!
@@CJsReelAdventures look at reviews u will be amazed mate
@@CJsReelAdventures tht rod snapped and it wasint under much pressure wtf maybe tht cod pushed ure rod to the limit
if its flat on the sounder on the bottom its sand get over jaggy ground like big drop offs
Think I’d drifted away from the good ground when I had that flounder, thanks for the tip!
Massive cod, great fishing. Pescy seals always stealing my mackarel. Great video bro
Thanks mate!
Well done man,, nice fishing,, that 9 lber looked a bit bashed up did it eat ok , not taking away from the catch 👍🎣
Yep I ate it, was very good! Wish I had my scales with me otherwise I would have been less likely to have kept it
Superb mate, that seal was funny I`v seen it happen a few times over the years, got a inflatable myself, just need a motor to get going, nice fish mate, cheers Scott
Thanks mate, the sib is one of the best things I’ve bought, worth very penny!
Can you catch cod off the rocks ?
Off Craigleith? I’m sure you can but your as well fishing from the boat if so. As for fishing off the main land I’ve only really had success further down at Eyemouth and st. Abbs in summer. Tight lines!
I was going to go out there in my fishing kayak you’ve just changed my mind that seal would if capsized me . nice cod
Every chance of it, there’s a lot a seals around there. Cheers!
I was out fishing on my kayak last week and 2 seals were up at me so I was out of there 😂😂
😂😂
hey i live not far away from north berwick i have 4hp outboard what do you think is this be enough for sea fishing? my dinghy is about the same size us yours
Hi, if you’re not going out to far 4 is okay, I’ve had paddleboarders go out past me at Craigleith. it doesn’t take much to move a sib so you should move pretty decent with a 4. Only thing is though, when you have a small boat you can only really go out when it’s flat calm. Download an app called Surfline and look for a day that has flat or 0-1 surf and as little swell as you can, as well as light winds forecast. Also make sure you have oars in case your engine dies when your out. Good luck!
Fish finder down, rod down, but one massive cod up!
Haha I’d trade a fish finder and a rod for that cod any day! 😂
congrats mate, that fish will take some beating 🎣🎣
Thanks! Yep I think that’ll be my PB for a while to come
Cracking Cod mate, well done!!
Thanks mate!
Sup i love this vid
Hey, awesome thanks!
Noissey fishing and still catching. ,
What loch is that.
Easiest way is finding an atm that allows you to purchase the this license, costs like 8 bucks and it get charged on the card you use. Btw where were you fishing in this video?
Ah right good to know, I thought this was just for locals. This is the breakwater at portimao
I am struggling with this as well! You cant but a license when you’re a foreigner from a atm right? Had to go through bmar?
@@RedGalaxyFishbone I believe so, I’m sure I read this somewhere so I attempted to use bmar before getting to Portugal. Compared to the netherlands VISpas system it’s rubbish, good luck I hope you have more success that I did!
@@CJsReelAdventures Yea I did the whole dance through bmar 2 days ago, I did select the speed thingy I paid double. And I got a mail in return that it was recieved succesfully but still waiting for the license or any return. Been 2 days now…
I got my license, I did had a VAT number though.
