What i like about these guys is that they are great human beings and great diplomats for the sport. I think waldner done more for sweden-china relationships then anyone else. Guy still goes to china for different events and have seen him play local people outdoors there on youtube

Please. Counting tournament wins does not suffice. Winning when competition is strong is better than when it is weak. Winning by single points in a very close tournament, is not as good as outclassing everyone. What you need to determine the greatest, is to watch their games, and see how is the most skillful. The editing of the video is great, though.

Really enjoyed your video...Ma Te would allready be in my top 10. His quality is high and I think he is top 5. Disadvantage of beeing Chinese in his case...almost every other country he would be in the national team. Matsushita is my favorite player because of his smooth style but Yoo is definately the best. Hou is my number 3...he was awesome with short pips and crazy sidespin...very spectacular to watch. I am 64 and trying ( despite reumatism) to become a better defender...its so challenging and f.cking nice to play again!! Love tabletennis, such an incredible sport

The way Ma Long move is full of gracefulness, style, elegance, ingenuity, finesse and artfulness. Too bad they did not count those traits and only the points.

Fan is one of the only two "complete" players (the other is of course Ma Long the goat) winning all winnable titles: the olympics, world championships, world cup, asian games, asian championships, asian cup, China national games, China national championships (last two are the hardest).

Ma Long, but not only because he won more , but because he did it during a very competitive modern period. In that sense Wang Hao really is a top top guy even if he is not the GOAT, because likewise he was unlucky to have overlapped two different periods with so many strong guys and was clearly at their level. Thats my only criticism of your method , because it does not normalise for opponent strength. The pre-chinese dominance era was much easier in comparison.

Jan-Ove Waldner was the first player who played on the same or better level that the chinese wall. He is an absolute genious, legendary, unbelievebale and greatness player. They call him the mozart of table tennis, amazing.!! Only a few no chinese player were at the top ten. Samsonov, Persson, Schlager, Boll, Waldner, Ovtcharov and only a few more. But the first europian Nr.1 no chinese player or no japanese player was Sweden with Waldner. For me, Jan-Ove was the first no chinese who can play with them. He is the mozart and the GOAT. Ma Long has more title, but Jan-Ove had a nicer play. Also the temprament and livestyle, the mindset were extraordanary. Respect Mozart of tabletennis JAN-OVE WALDNER!

Achievement-wise or gymnastically, and objectively Ma Long is undoubtedly the g.o.a.t! Artistically and creatively Waldner is, even though he failed four times in winning the gold medal when he played 5 time Olympics. Waldner was the g.o.a.t at the old era and Ma long is truly the g.o.a.t! Salute two greatest male table tennis players in history!
