Some of the old colonials remarked that some coloureds could appreciate civilisation and be integrated. I scoffed, because of course. You make me question my devotion to TND, boy. Then again, we have known for a century or so that coloureds are relatively capable of music and thelike.

Honestly, this interpretation was kind of mediocre. The dude on guitar made too many mistakes. I recommend you watching the Narciso Yepes or Pepe Romero versions, those are the best ones in my opinion.

This was written in 1919, right after WW1. It really is a metaphor for what happened to Europe as a result of the war.

You simply must listen to John Eliot Gardiners recordings of Beethoven's symphonies. They are unlike any other recordings in how "clear" and elegant they are. They are so special because they are played with period instruments (instruments made the same way they were during Beethoven's time) and the tempos are set to match what Beethoven himself dictated in his metronome markings. The most perfect recording IMO that I most highly recommend from the set would have to be his 1994 recording of Beethoven's third symphony "Eroica". Truly unlike any other recordings out there

This is what is called a "program symphony". Sometimes closing one's eyes is part of the experience. The big climax in the 2nd Movement was supposed to express, in musical terms, the Bloody Sunday Massacre of 1905. Clearly, it wasn't a pretty picture. Shostakovich can be very intense!

You should listen to his 7th symphony too I spliced parts of his 5th for my gymnastics floor routine. I have always loved Shostakovich. You should read about his 7th and listen to Klaus Mekkela. (The history of that symphony is truly globally amazing.) That one is like Shostakovich rose from the dead to conduct, Mahler was the head violinist and maybe Debussy on the flute. So glad you like Dmitri Shostakovich.

First video I watch on your channel. I'm glad I've found you because I wanted to see a reaction channel on classical music for so long. I am eager to see you discover some of my favorite classical pieces through your journey. I started my journey into classical music about 10 years ago and I am still discovering new composers and artists. It is simply too vast for anyone to be able to hear everything. I will give you some recommendations when I'll finish to see your videos (so clearly in a few months) to avoid advising you to listen something you have already listened. Enjoy this incredible journey!

Vivaldi's 4 seasons are among my favorite classical pieces. It's amazing that they are so good considering he was a contemporary of Bach, so the music was advanced for the time. He wrote the group of concertos about 1725. Bach died in 1750, while Vivaldi died in 1741. Bach was 65 and Vivaldi 63, so they were writing most of their lives at the same time.

Kiffin has always been considered one of the very best pianists. Only really talented pianists can handle pieces like this well. For "regular" piano enthusiasts like me, there is really no hope of me being able to do this well, no matter how many hours of practice I did.

This recording kinda sucks imo. It's way too slow, and it especially ruins the dramatic tension of the first movement. It's supposed to be ferocious and primal, but they just make it seem dry and boring, which could be mostly fixed if they just changed the tempo ughhhh. I feel like all my comments are so negative sorry 😭
