Crafter van conversion!
Welcome to a very different style of vlog from us!
We have made the decision to convert a Volkswagen Crafter, one of our old work vans into a camper van! Are we mad?? I suppose we will soon find out!!!
This van is a high mileage hero with over 265,000 on the clock. But that won't stop us. We have seen these vans go much further so we've taken the leap.
In this video we have completely stripped it out removing the floor, bulk head and side panels. Once that was done we were able to give it a good clean and treat any rust or bare metal that we found.
Once we got to this stage we got stuck in with the Dodo mat (sound deadening) and insulation.
We are trying to do this camper van conversion on a budget, not that we know what that is yet, so we have used some materials that we had already purchased when we converted a T4 during lock down.
When it came to the floor insulation we used minimal sound deadening and then raised the floor using roofing baton and insulation board which we secured with expanding foam and finished with foil tape which created a complete vapour barrier.
In this video we also explain the idea we have for a layout in this camper van but have struggled a little with this so any suggestions are very welcome.
Also, if you have already converted a van of a similar size, did you do it on a budget? What advice would you give us as armatures??

Those poles are worth a mint, don;t dump them. I have a slightly larger version and I mangage toput it up and take it down solo at 78.

Fabulous Reversing, you are a natural at that. Twin axles are much harder than singles to manouver.
They are aren’t they, I just don’t think motor movers are worth the expense. I may change my mind however if I come across a tricky one 😂

@@notsosuperleeds thanks so much, it was LONG 2.5 hours but with a stop for refreshments it was more like 3. If we went again we would get a private transfer which is about €80. We’ve heard they’re very good with air conditioned vans that have WiFi, T.V and refreshments

I do believe the fuse for flusher is inside the outside cupboard for the holding tank...
I think ours is a different model where the water pump and flush pump runs off the same fuse, the water pump however is working fine so we need to look further in to it x

@@davidkwvne6857 yes 100%. Ocean is a lot bigger than blue and therefore I think people feel like it seems very busy around the pools and in the restaurant
Exacly thats my only concern if am honest how busy it may be at the ocean and the blue looks amazing from your vlog Ill see what they say if we end up staying at ocean can always go blue next year On a whole tho how was it as a holiday would yon go again
Hi, thanks for the video, seriously considering booking this place - Where did you have your original booking for that you upgraded to Eftalia Blue? Can you use the other two Eftalia hotels facilities?
Thanks for watching! We were originally booked into Eftalia Ocean Resort. It was on check in at the hotel that they offered us the upgrade. Blue has only been open a few months so I presume they have a lot of empty rooms and want to gain some reviews etc. I think ocean is a much bigger hotel and therefore seems much busier. I am glad we took the upgrade. You can use all Eftalia resort facilities, they have a few hotels. There is also the island that you can use which unfortunately we didn’t film but didn’t go to much. There’s loads going on at the island

The closest shop & supermarket is a 5 minute walk out of the hotel

Welcome to the club!! The only thing we regret is NOT DOING IT SOONER!
When I got my new tow bar fitted I went with a fixed one purely so I could fit the plate behind it to stop the hitch extending and doing this to the bumper. I know they don’t look at good but you can always unbolt It if wanted

Congratulations on buying your first caravan!! It’s got to be the best thing we’ve ever done. Aaron was nervous about towing but you just need to take your time and REMEMBER you have it on the back 😂

Lovely video - at the beginning of the video when you were going through that narrow village, I thought, “I bet that’s Youlgreave 😳”. Well done for getting through there - it is always an absolute nightmare with the parked cars. Well done too for getting up that hill- the boys deserve medals 😊. Have a great holiday in Turkey.

Congratulations Henry on your cycling skills! Enjoyed your video even though as a couple with just 3 dogs, we only go to small CL/CS Sites. Glad you are enjoying your caravan. When we have our awning up and we know it’s going to be wet the night before we intend leaving the site, we take it down so that we don’t have to pack it up wet. Happy travels ❤️

@@Touringwiththemarshalls 👍 I live in the North Staffs/Peak district area but as we don’t have kids, can’t help with ideas of where to go but I’ve asked a friend who has a caravan and kids, if they can suggest places. If he comes back with some ideas, I’ll let you know. ❤️ He suggests Carsington water CAMC site and also one at Chatsworth.

If youre going to Weymouth…get yourself up to Chickerell..lovely..Sea Barn Farm….its Bostin…
But the towbar wouldnt give….so it would have bent your mounting frame….not good ,better the way you did It a little compression on your bumper..just get some grey paint quick..and forget it….i said forget it…if youre reversing blind always get out and walk behind the van to check for obstructions dont rush for any reason unless you have to, like when youre reversing unless you are on a train crossing..
