We bought a CARAVAN!!

We have purchased our first tourer caravan!
It's a second hand Swift Challenger 625, 2012 model.
It's a 6 berth with a fixed double bed at the back, front seating area that converts into a double bed and a dinette area that makes up into bunk beds.
We absolutely love it and wanted to share with you our experience of picking up the caravan and adding all our homely touches to make it feel like ours.
We had a tow bar fitted to our VW T5 camper van. We used Telford Towbars for this and received an excellent service! We dropped the van to them and collected it 24 hours later with our new 13 pin electrics and detachable tow bar. They showed us a dummy version of the towbar in the workshop that we could use and familiarise ourselves with how it detaches and locks. We highly recommend these guys!

We have also purchased some new wheels for the camper van from Elite Wheels.
We went for 17" sparco gravel graphite grey with BFG Train Trial tyres and they are BOSS! stick to the road like glue and I don't think we will be getting stuck on and muddy fields with our caravan anytime soon!
The customer service at Elite Wheels is excellent. Definitely recommend!

Congratulations on your lovely caravan. We have a campervan as a tow vehicle too. Can I ask what size engine your VW has and how you are finding the towing? Enjoy your lovely set up and safe travels.

Thank you!! It is a 2L TD but we had it remapped a couple of years ago and I think that helps, although they are strong engines anyway in my opinion. Thank you for watching 🩶

It’s now 170bhp, I can’t remember where we had it done but it was a small garage local to us in Staffordshire

@@Touringwiththemarshalls Thanks, did it improve your mpg? Whereabouts in Staffordshire (we live in north Staffs)? Sorry about all the questions. The reason for them is because we may upgrade our caravan which would mean it would be a heavier one. Thanks again.

@@irenedale5256 we live in Penkridge, it did improve our mpg, whilst towing were getting around 27-30 but we haven’t been long distance yet, so i imagine it will be even better than that but I can update you on that when we go next bank holiday ☺️
