On A Good Day you can see the end from here

Joanna Newson On a good day you can see the foot of the Yorkshire Dales from this hill....I had to go out early to video this one, It's abit out of the way to get up this hill so I never see anyone around. It's been raining a lot here in Yorkshire recently which is why the grass is so green at the moment, something to be thankful for. I do like these kind of days as the cold wind makes you feel...

Listen to the full song here: linktr.ee/chrisbrainmusic I hope you enjoy this song You can also pre-order the album today if that interests anyone This was recorded at the allotment shed a week ago when we had a sudden fall of snow. Fairly cold on the hands so I had a hot water bottle to keep me warm Chris x

Needle of Death - Bert Jansch

The skylarks were joining me on this one, one flys close in the second verse which put a smile on my face I just finished my UK tour so i thought it would be nice to play outside again to settle back in to normality I missed out a verse as it felt too intimate to sing when I didn't write the song Hope you enjoyed x
Go Your Way - Anne Briggs
มุมมอง 21Kปีที่แล้ว
Go Your Way by Anne Briggs, a wee 1 mile walk with my guitar and seat took me to this evergreen wood near the boarders of North Yorkshire. Heard/saw lots of birds and the echo of an owl in the deeper darker part of the wood. Hope you all enjoy Chris x

Morning Brings Peace of Mind - Bert Jansch

I played this song at the Bert Jansch 80th birthday celebration at Royal Festival Hall in London on Saturday in front of 2500 people (04/11/2023)! I went on just before Robert Plant took the stage. I thought i'd record this song up in my neck of the woods as a reminder for my self and others that may have been there/missed out on a wonderful show. All the best Chris x

I've only just stumbled across you and your music and from one songwriter to another this is such a brilliant song/piece of writing. You definitely have a new fan in me and really looking forward to listening to more of your music!
Beautiful guitar part😮
Great video and brilliant song. Look forward to hearing the album!
it's 3:30 AM right now, i just smoked a joint and discovered this beautiful cover. Reminds me of my brother while he was in the psych ward he said he used listen to this on the communal tv every day when he got the free time. i miss him but this song still gives me a little burst of hope
Love this for you and thank you for the video ❤️
what do you call this strumming technique? i would like to learn it
Not boring at all! This was such a lovely, warm and overall wholesome video to watch. I don't think I stopped smiling all the way through! I'm so happy for your successes, Chris. They are undoubtedly well-earned and I wish you all the best with your tour of Japan - how exciting!! Love your videos and I hope we get to be blessed with hearing you speak again soon! Happy New Year from Australia ✌❤
happy it’s all going well
This is great, big John Martyn vibes!
thank you
where’s that cheeky a flat note after the choruses and in the ending
Woops I didn’t listen hard enough!
Really good - what I like is that you are true to the original song whilst being true to yourself. Nice vocal tone too - which for Nick Drake is a must.
Thanks. Enjoyable watch, great tips and useful info. Looking forward to seeing you in Hull in March. Disappointingly for me, I was all set to play the opening set at that gig but Paul forgot and asked someone else (I'm sure they'll be great). Great work Chris, all the best.
Oh that’s a shame Rich, that would have been nice! Looking forward to it!
What a great video. Love that song you wrote too mate. All the best in Japan; an experience of a lifetime
Fantastic video! Will you be touring in the United States or Canada in the future?
I hope so! Next year if I am lucky, if not, 2025 x
Chris what guitar are you playing on this one?
It’s a Sigma! X
I was busking tonight. It was damn cold 😅
I don’t envy you!
❤
I'm crying of happiness, thank you...
HI <3 THX chris
Thanks Chris! Can’t see that Sigma online, presume it’s a rare one…
It’s about 15 years old, not many knocking around
@@ChrisBrainMusic You should be getting commission from Sigma at this point 😂
Thanks, nice info! You didn’t mention the camera and what post editing you do which would be interesting. Good one though!
Hey! That’s all down to you and what you like x
@@ChrisBrainMusic ah ok, good point
Take your binoculars when you head over to Japan in October…lots of great birds to see & marvelous Autumn colours.
Can’t wait! Food, colours and culture! X
Would love to see you play, whereabouts in Devon, can't find any details, best wishes from Brixham
It’s going to be at a place called Outside, it should be on my website this week x
@ChrisBrainMusic ah I know it, hope to see you there! Good surf spot too if that's your thing.
so beautiful, anyone know about tuning?
EadgbD x
What part of Scotland are you from?
I’m from Yorkshire England
The song you played reminded me of a Alexi Murdoch tune, have you heard of him?
I have, I like 5 or 6 of his songs, they are beautiful
Amazing rendition!! What tuning are you using?
Open D x
Very nice!
❤
Your accent is lovely! I’ve been watching/listening for a while. I love your style! My niece and I perform locally here in NC, USA, our style is similar to yours. Thanks for sharing this today. It is very helpful. I wish you could tour in the United States 😊💙🎵
Thanks for sharing! I hope to come over too x
Thanks Chris, absolutely love your accent 😀
Mate, when you play live, it really does sound like a recording… I think that’s a massive compliment. Your album in March, is it recorded in a studio, or is it a compilation of these live recordings?
Its all my own songs but recorded by my self, I did some overdubbing in a studio for violin and piano x
Thanks!
Great stuff, thanks Chris.
Great sound for a single microphone. Best luck with the new album and thanks from Chicago!
That Sigma sounds quite nice and works very well with your vocal style. Thanks for those recording tips. I wish I had a back yard shed to record and practise in.
Hi Chris, I only discovered you a few weeks ago and have been listening to your 2 lovely albums over and over. I was just walking my dog with Golden days and thought I'm already looking forward to your new album I should check back if you've released anything new and there you were today recording this. Really special to hear how authentic your sound is, and your interaction with the Robin was priceless. Thanks
Happy robin wich can hear you live all the day. Thanks for sharing your tips about live recordings. Very happy for all these announced concerts abroad but don't forget Europe and Paris 🙂
I hope to come to Europe too! Gosh it feels funny saying Europe as if I am not European anymore 💔
You're European for sure and UK too even with Brexit. We (especially France) have too many historical links (for better or for worse 😉) with UK and I hope that will end as soon as possible for us all.
Thank you Chris! You have an amazing energy, love how you talk about your music, should definetly do that more often!
Heya Chris, I'm glad to have discovered you. I was surfing for Nick Drake cover vids and *bam!* you appeared. Thanks for the music. Just two questions if you find time: 1. Think you'll come to the US ever? (Northeast in particular, where you would be welcome). Also, 2., That Sigma --the jaw dropped when you said that's what it was. What's its history? Old / new? I'd heard that the older Sigma line was good, but its sound is gorgeous. I thought it was hand-made by some English country luthier, or something ... Anyway, thanks!
Hello there, yes I hope to come to the US, it will probably be 2026 and the Sigma is about 15 years old I think! It’s quite a rare one, cheap and solid wood, they make some real gems if you find a slightly older one
@@ChrisBrainMusic -Thanks. I am now on the lookout for older Sigmas! See you in '26.
The accent is the best one there is! Just sayin'. (I'm a bit partial to Yorkshire) So basically, you can ramble for hours and all of us would probably be alright with it. 😅 Also, thanks for the explanation. It's good information for those of us interested! I appreciate ya! Hugs all the way from California! <3
Beautiful thanks Chris : )
Really helpful, Chris. Thanks for this. I aspire to sing and play similarly to you, so your advice is very much appreciated 👌
Hey Tim that’s nice of you to say, thanks for your comment x
<3
Wonderful thanks Chris for taking the time to make the video much appreciated. Love your music been listening on Sporify over Christmas.
The Sun did Glide single is glorious. Look forward to the album Chris!
Genuinely useful. Thanks Chris. I smiled at your guitar being a Sigma because I've been ogling their Gibson J45 copy for over a year. Just waiting for one to come up used. But I'm guessing yours comes from the time when they had the official Martin contract.
Mine is about 15 years old so I think it’s just one of theirs but I love it! I’ve always wondered about those j45 replicas, I once played a Gibson model and it was lovely x
Love this! Thank you, Chris!!!
So helpful! Thanks for sharing! Awesome music btw
