Painting seascapes is what I love to do and specialize in, but also I enjoy creating landscape art and other artworks. Some videos you may find are painting demo or how to paint style, I would like to pass on some information to be helpful if possible, i.e. the painting process, selecting references for painting and hopefully to show the natural design process that I have become accustomed too for my art projects.

@@GregosUKRepens thankyou :)
Wow - thanks for posting this up Vernon. Magnificent paintins and I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Can I ask what was that little brush that you used at the end that looked home made, and do you have a source for ocean images that you use?
@@doodlefish007 Hi. Many thanks fur your comments and compliments. Appreciated. The long thin brushes are called rigger or liner brushes. You can buy them individually, or eBay in packs of 10 various thicknesses. Have always done the job ok for me. Re the sources I have thousands of photos I have taken when I am able to get to the sea. My website is www.vernonwjones.com if you want to see more seascapes. If you need any help please ask and I will do my best to help you. Thanks again
Wonderful ! How long it took you?

How much for this painting ?
Hi. This is a commissioned work, so It's not for sale. If you were interested in general pricing I will be happy to help with that. My email is vernon.jones@hotmail.co.uk Many thanks.
Incredible work brotha 👏
@@saltygenes thanks alot, it's coming together bit by bit :)
Does oil painting needs to be completely dry to add another top layer or adding details?
@@modestbehaviour01 no it doesn't, but there are limits when it's wet, which is a technique in itself. But what I am doing requires the layers to be dry to work them.
@@vernonwjones oh alrightyy thankyou
@@modestbehaviour01 Yeah, you can get more details when working in layers for sure. Check "alla prima" painting to read or watch what it is. It means "In the first time" more or less, in one time with with oils. Its wet in wet. It is possible to work in sections on a large painting, completing each section as you go, and it still be alla prima. I made such a painting you can see painting Turkey, a seascape with a cliff, I made that one over 3 days I think, painting a section at a time. Ther are actually quite a few recent ones of Macedonian landscape that I made it this way, even large ones of 150 cm long. Had to work fast though :)
that's soo nice ❤
@@HuzayfaWadee-on7nb Thanks, getting there. Will work a bit more on it tonight, I think beach tomorrow
Stunning detail in such a large painting. I envy your patience.
Thankyou very much! Appreciated.
do you paint birds?
@@olleottevi322 Hi. I can and have done. Why do you ask?
Looking great 👊🏻🎨
@@KillianArt cheers mate :)
What kind of paint sticks best to the feathers? And how do you hold the bird still while you paint it?. I have a bird thats need repainting.
@@olleottevi322 you have to knock the bird out first otherwise it's impossible as you can imagine. Acrylic sticks well to the feathers and dries fast. Oil paint is a nightmare when it flies around getting oil paint everywhere, and on other birds too!
Love the video, but the music is too loud❤

amazing to see how everything is coming together 🤍
@@modestbehaviour01 thanks for following the progress and your comment. Today I will hopefully finish the blocking in of the entire canvas, shouldn't be so fiddly except where the dunes are, then I can get in to the real work lol.
I am really enjoying this series. Thank you.
@@christyritterbusch1800 hi. Oh that's nice to know, thankyou :) more to come.
You make it look easy, I love all your talent
@@erikaviviana7908 thankyou. If you need any help just ask :)
Hi Vernon, your paintings are nothing short of amazing. Acrylics are something of a mystery to me as I use oils, but I'd like to ask - when you use acrylics (for seascapes) do you ever use a mop or blender brush to soften any hard edges? I'm asking because the edges of your lighter tones seem to bend effortlessly into the darks.
Hi.Thankyou for your compliment, and your question. I use around 5 tones in general when creating the sea in oils and acrylics, sometimes 6. I keep the tones very close to one another, that way the transition isnt a shock :) Also due to the transparent nature of acrylics, this adds to the blend being subtle. Does this answer your question? I hope so, if not, I will try again. Cheers!
@@vernonwjones perfect answer, and thank you for the fast response.
@@StevenMarkPaintings No problem at all. Take care.
Bravo 🎉
Many thanks :)

Love this and will be practicing these suggestions. As a side, my husband is a boat captian and I asked him to watch the first part of these. He was amazed at how you brought this to life. He said you put him at the helm watching the seas starting to kick up. He was plotting his course though those seas.
@@christyritterbusch1800 hi. Thankyou very much, I appreciate that. I am happy you are trying, and if you need any help just ask. Also any suggestions too for future vids. Please take a look at my website, I think your husband will like the seascape work. www.vernonwjones.com Many thanks again. :)

All the money should come rolling in any moment now... ...any moment now... ...any moment now.... ....any moment now.... Where's the g.d. money! There's no money here... at all!
@@dysnomia-anarchia haha. Well it's not going to happen for me reaching 1000, the number really a milestone. Gotta have 4 000 watch hours with that. It doesn't matter anyway, I enjoy doing this, to help others, and hope it's helping promote my art. Earning from this is in the back of my mind, and I won't disappoint myself if I like to do it anyway. If I get some money will be nice, but I don't want to be some cockroach clambering over people trying to get the prize. I'd much rather try to get my vids better and enjoy the process, enjoy recording my art and other things.
@@vernonwjones You're better off ignoring all that rubbish... and TH-cam ads, and instead... and instead, ask in your video for paypal or patreon donations. You can do it any time and you get like 100%, and your revenue stream is not at risk. Or some people embed their own ads. If you load up all your videos plastered with ads, YT only plays about $1 per 1,000 views (it depends on the target audience you make content for, i.e., financial advice pays the highest), which isn't worth annoying and driving away your viewers for. There's only one other way I've seen people make money here, run livestreams and build up an audience that throws nickels and dimes at you. That's reasonable worth your time, but it's a grind, and I recommend a cohost to talk to so you won't be talking to dead air. I thought about it, even set myself up for it, and decided, it wasn't for me.
@@dysnomia-anarchia thankyou very much for that. Yes, the TH-cam afs are nasty, had about 4 in one song one time, was terrible. Anyway, will think about what you said. I appreciate the time and advice. Very kind :)
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
