hi, i am misimi. i am a 22 y/o assamese girl living in mumbai & i am mostly ranting or creating whatever possible because i can’t pick a niche to save my life
experiencing caste as a privileged indian
this is a very personal walkthrough, and i’ve avoided talking too much about the casteism my family has faced to respect their privacy. instead, i’ve focused on my own experiences around this topic because it’s rarely spoken about from a creamy layer perspective. this is more of a rant to give insight to people who believe caste is a thing of the past or that caste and class are the same. they overlap, but they are NOT the same. i’m extremely passionate about this topic and have so much more to say, but for now, i just wanted to post this and move on. to learn more, i’ve linked some resources you can watch or read for deeper insight into the topic.

hi, sorry for dipping for ages if anyone cares. finally made a video essay i am okayishly satisfied with. i explore how platforms, class divides, and our complex cultural identity play a role in visual choices, consumerism and 'cores. also a lot about westernisation and modernisation. how cultural exchange is not a one way street. and is all of this a good or bad thing. i'd love to hear your th...

I really love this girl so much.. i just love her personality!
Yup, SC/STs still face reservation, yes. They are still discriminated and targeted, yes. Reservation isn't a problem, NO. Reservation is a problem whether you like it or not. When you study for hours and hours and see someone with marks lower than you get into prestigious colleges you are bound to be jealous. "only those who have faced it, lived it, get it." you said that. Reservation is a tool to get votes. Reservation was agreed at a condn that it'd be only for a group of people. Ambedkar would be pained to see 60% reservation based on caste in IITs and AIIMS. You said that it is for representation. No. If it is for representation, reserve seats according to the population percent. Hypothetically, let's assume even on the remaining 40% somehow reserved category guys occupy all the seats. It's possible mathematically, right? What about representation then? So it doesn't matter how many UCs get representation? Yeah and also, I don't think creamy layer of SC/STs deserve reservation. Don't tell me that UCs having a greater percent in places without reservation is a problem. duh. They worked for it and earned it. In totality, you seemed biased to your opinion, with every right to do so just like how I am biased to my experiences.
I felt so validated after watching this. As a "creamy layer" lower caste person ,there aren't many places where out internal struggles and experiences are talked about. Despite our economic privilege we still experience caste in though in a less sinister way. Thank you so much for talking about it , it must have been really hard to decide if you want to talk about it or not on such a public platform which can lead to people further dissect you.
First outfit link??? Both cardigan and dress???
Your parents are such a W tho for giving you a cool surname AND a REALLY COOL first name.
I've been trying to find one comment talking about school being a nice experience but I can't seem to so I'll just write it myself. School was actually such an amazing experience for me. I had good teachers, I had strict teachers as well but they were reasonable. I had friends and they were genuinely all good people. I studied, I was never bullied or treated unfairly in any way. I know that there are people who have had the exact opposite experience and I feel kind of sad that they weren't able to enjoy school. Just leaving a comment in case there's anyone else like me who enjoyed school
One day i was walking with my friends suddenly one of my friends starts talking shit about sc/st people cracking seats reservation jokes.Singing castist music then my other friend started laughing.his grandmother is such a big casteist broo she doesn't even let him drink water from someone other's house and even let someone touch him.
"Caste does not exist gang" has twisted the narrative
I mostly had awful time at school. Weirdly most students werent even bad at my school, we all collectively were bullied by teachers & ofc the rich spoiled kids but it was never any physical bullying. Though take it with grain of salt as I was among the smarter kids in class so I didnt get picked on as often as other kids might have. Our school had problem of rich kids being compared with poorer kids, based on how rich their parents were. I too had same experience as you during 10th boards, our maths teacher named like 5-10 kids who he thought would top the class. He looked straight at me & said "you dont even go to tuition so there is no use of even hoping". This was back in 2016 where everyone went to tuitions but I didnt cuz well my family couldnt afford it. GUESS WHAT I GOT GOOD GRADES and the kids he named scored less than me. but like what if I hadnt though? what if I had scored less & then I would feel bad about it all my life, These adults failed to realize how badly it could affect little kids, Ik back then I used to feel "less" than other kids cuz I felt like I couldnt get anywhere in life as they are just lucky enough to have money to get all resources they want. I can write whole book about all the fucked up things our school did ngl. School life was just toxic in my experience, the environment at school was so hostile.
FINALLY SOMEONE TALKING ABOUT UPPER CLASS CASTEISM.... My parents are literally both judges, and the staff working for us thinks we are thakur or rajputs, the maid working (as a dishwasher) for us stopped after she realized we are SC..... "chamaro ke yaha bartan nhi dhote hum" it was shocking for me when i was 8 i had no idea since then i've always felt insecure when people say castesim kaha h, I am currently preparing for an enterance and reservation se seat mil jayegi doesn't even cross my mind...
You are such a crybaby It's a hilarious joke
It's funny joke
What's the meaning of competetive exam if someone scoring less than you is gonna clear it and get the seat anyway?
just subscribed yesterday, you're so gorgeous and I love your videos. we share a LOT of thoughts and I'm so glad to have found your channel
nice to see a non sareylah comment section
Caste can exist a little longer in the back of minds of conservatives, ibut t is relevant and continues to be so only because of reservations. That's the core of modern caste discourse amongst youth, yet you skrited around it never addressing properly. You either disapprove of reservations for your case as a creamy layer, or you're a hypocrite enjoying privileges of an identity you avail victimization from. (You can enjoy the benefits and still have an intellectual honestly about your privileges) And just because you can notice caste, and rarely be inconvenienced by it, regrettable as it is, does not mean you are warranted reparations in form of reservations because of it
As an Indian male student, when I was in school, my friends always objectified Russian women worth 6000 as "dark joke" which i never understood why it was funny, but played along them to not feel left out. Now here I am doing better in my academics better than those "friends"
Louder 🗣
If you pay closer attention, the talented people in Gen usually don't care about reservations. It's the ones with less talent blaming reservations for their own inability. I've seen a lot of people like that. Do people seriously believe all the people who are complaining about reservations on the internet actually deserved a seat? Hell no.
Most people who talk about merit doesnt even understand what it means. When we talk about merit it means a persons personel ability to do a certain task and that ability is highly effected by the resources at your disposal. Reservation is their to ensure a common starting ground as it ensures representation with respect to population and low marks of sc st cutoff is a clear indicator that people of these communities are not that well educated and resourceful to score same as so called uppercaste students. But who wants to learn they just want to blame lowercaste people for not getting seats 😂.
Wake up Blame Reservations Blame Ambedkar Blame Gandhi and Nehru Fail in life Sleep Repeat
@kimjongunvevo even kimjong agrees😭
i was u can say a good student who used to get 90 -95 percent marks on an average and school was just as terrible for me teachers were never ever satisfied and they were the biggest bullies i have ever met and only through this vdo i got to know that they were fucking bullying me
i had to recheck if i am in 2x speed or not.
Holy Algorithm brought me here and I was totally listening to what she was saying /s Good to see a new gen og indian creator on here exploring good topics, would love to watch more😁
If you consider reservation, a policy that has been in place for just over a century, to be unjust, then what about the caste-based discrimination that has persisted for more than 3,000 years? What about the relentless persecution that countless innocent people have suffered because of their caste or religion? Are you drawing the line at reservation, overlooking the centuries of systemic oppression that continue to shape the social fabric of this nation? Reservation has transformed the psychology of lower-caste communities by providing opportunities for education, employment, and social mobility, fostering empowerment and reducing feelings of INFERIORITY. It's important to understand that these communities were not used to being treated as equals until recently and are still trying to integrate into a society that once deemed them inferior.
Preach!
What did u studied in College?
Thankyou.
This video will be utilised later on news channel as a topic for debate. For sure. Tq girl
caste discrimination is real and is still happening people say it doesnt happen in city well it happens not that openly but it does happen. also the politican also discriminate lower caste people. if lower caste some how did something good other upper caste will come running to take the credit and it happens.
wake up babe misimi just dropped
They don't want us to match up to them. people are jealous because we can afford iPhone as well as car .what they doesn't want. Although Which we have purchased in installments. .
abeyy to htwaddo na reservation kyu randi rona?
Now that i am watching this video, i have realised teachers seemingly "pushing us to work hard" or "talking to us privately to show they care"..... All these behavior, were just the teachers exercising their authority relentlessly.
get your facts straight love, people compete for 55,000 seats in neet not 1,20,000. the other numbers are private colleges and no one's competing for those. also, for someone whose content is focused around how western culture affects us, you use "millions" and 120,000 over 1,20,000. not a big deal, but just pointing out the fact that you are very aware of the fact that you are privileged and your platform is a place for you to speak about whatever you want but at least don't talk about mbbs and neet without having experienced it first hand. the real problem is reservations, whether you like it or not.
What exactly is the problem with reservations again??
@@kimjongunvevoit reinforces casteism cuz its based on a bias. There are better ways to uplift community like black people in the USA having the whole affirmative action thing and community colleges not the government forcing us to follow this system cuz they want votes from them. The system literally has no boundary nothing like oh you dad got a government job now you should not get the quota.
but im muslim and islam has like this at all. in the last sermon, prophet of Allah said, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)'s last sermon emphasized equality, abolishing racism, and social injustices. He declared that no Arab is superior to a non-Arab, nor a white over a black. Rights of all, including women, were upheld, urging unity, justice, and adherence to the Quran and his teachings. imagine establishing this in the society where people boasts about their lineage and family and poor and week gets the worse type of experience. highly recommended to study this.
you will never know the pain of studying every fucking day for two whole years of your life knowing that some people who won't score the same as you do get a seat while you're left with nothing. throwing around random percentages without mentioning a source? be fr w yourself
don't talk about neet as if you fucking know what it's like to score 655 and take a drop while watching your st friend get a seat with half of those marks. do not fucking talk like you aren't privileged. life is fair because it is equally unfair to everyone.
She does say she's privileged, you nugget (Video title, description....) Caste has nothing to do with money.
The teacher's job is to teach !! It really annoys me when teachers compare kids based on grades like it really doesn't matter what grade you get.
No Reservation No Casteism
I stayed in Juhu for 25 years, and noticed this slightly. Then i shifted to Outskirts for a bigger house and then my everyday conversations started revolving around these things - This is very prevalent in Tier 2 and non metro cities
I am an ST. And shit tired of hearing "tujhe to mil hi jayegi seat tu tension na le" as a taunt. This video was much needed. Thank you ❤
Socialmedia brain washing genz they are trying to adopt the western culture in order to look cool they feel to shame to show their own culture to the socialmedia 😮 joy ai akhom mur culture hi hoi mur identity
I'm Keralite, I had had butter chicken very few times because its not something I like that much and doesn't cook it at home. And panipuri also is not something I crave for. Its a flavor bomb but it does not have a taste I like. Also white has been in our culture for long, when we do not had much dyes. Kerala's traditional kasav and cotton, khadi all had been white. Like our country's geography is diverse. I don't want to dress like a pahadi and walk around in this humid weather.
We had different colored walls before which purely looked not ‘Indian-esque’ but messy. It isn’t always about privilege or aesthetics. I’ve seen sides of people having off white, beige walls or just random blues or pinks.
You are brainwashed.
GenZ these days using so called Desi core doesn't mean that they're back to their roots coz without their CORES & pinterest desi fashion they won't even bother wearing ethnics & not to mention most of them have 0 idea about Indian mythology
One of the biggest reasons of they sexualize Russian or white women is because that is like something new to them , most of them have not seen white women in their entire lives , they treat white women like some toy they won’t ever get and hence the obsession with something you can’t ever have It’s just literally yucky all around
The same men who fetishize Russian women are the ones who will call you fake feminist💀💀💀 they literally don’t have the Iq to comprehend even 1% of what you are saying , They feel threatened and start targeting women and think it is so cool
I never understood casteism. I looked at them as people not based on their caste. My parents once had a bad experience with the lower caste so now he generalizes them. I understand him. But he is ok with me having an intercaste marriage. ( That's something cool 😎)
