Trecco Bay Parkdean | Tour & Review of Porthcawl Holiday Park
Join us on our tour and review of Trecco Bay Holiday Park in Porthcawl, South Wales. The biggest Parkdean Resort that holds the title of the biggest holiday park in the UK!
We let you know whether this Parkdean resort lives up to the hype - Is it just quantity or does it also have quality?
We booked a 3-night stay at the start of the Halloween half term. We had a basic 8 berth caravan that was pet friendly. The cost of the caravan and access to all the facilities for the weekend approx. £300 for 2 adults, 2 kids and a doggy.
So how was it all, and did we enjoy it?
First off, we have to say thanks to Parkdean for allowing us to enter our caravan 2 hours early. Normal check in is not till 4pm, we arrived at 2pm and found our caravan was ready and they had no issues giving us early access - so tick for that.
Our caravan was in the Hollies area - and yes you really do need a map to find it. The park is huge.
Parking is provided next to all caravans which is great, so fortunately you do not have to carry luggage very far. As for the caravan though...well, it was basic and when we say basic, we are not exaggerating. Toilet roll provided, but cleaning bits like cloths and washing up liquid are not. Ours was pet friendly and we were instantly reminded of this by all the stains on the sofas. Beds comfortable, shower had hot water and TV worked, so all in all, if you want a cheap place to put your head, it was great, if you wanted comfort, it was not.
The Facilities - The centre of the park is the Pavilion (huge roofed area) and the court area just outside, consisting of (sure we will miss bits)
- Tandoori Kitchen - Indian restaurant
- Burger King
- Papa Johns
- Thunderbirds Chicken
- The Boathouse Restaurant
- Arcades (multiple)
- Show area in main walk through
- 2 Bars
- Swimming pool - with flume
- Indoor play area for toddlers
- The Venue - huge entertainment area
- Launderette
- Souvenir Shop
- Nisa Shop (for all your basic items) - but note that there is Greggs and Coop just outside the park, which are far cheaper for coffees and other essential items.
- Fish & chip Shop
- Cafes
-10 Pin Bowling
- Bingo Area
- Ice cream stall
We are sure there are more stalls etc, but we think you get the gist i.e. there is more than enough for everyone.
Then you have the activities that are constantly present and ongoing throughout the day. From adventure play areas, to bouncy inflatables, to splash park to Pumpkin carving, bear making, facepainting, rock climbing, etc the list is endless. A lot of the activities do cost a bit of money, but with so many being free and us only having the 3 days, we found that we did not need to spend that much - it was actually the arcade that was the cash guzzler...
Food wise as we have listed above, you will not go hungry. We had a Burger King, which is as it always is and a reasonably safe bet with kids.
We also had a fish and chip supper one night and found it to be spot on, but it did cost in the region of £40 to feed us all. So, a bit more expensive than you would find in your normal chippy.
Then the Boathouse Restaurant - we found this to also have good food at a reasonable price.
We also tried the wings from the Thunderbird chicken shack which the kids loved. approx. £10 for 9 wings and sauce of your choice.
Then there is the location of this huge park. We were very fortunate to visit at the end of October when it was sunny! We made the most of it and visited some lovely beaches.
The park is at the entrance to Trecco Bay beach, a bit rocky, but when the tide goes out, it does leave you with vast expanses of sand.
Then to the right of Trecco Bay, you have Sandy Bay beach, ideal for surfing, bodyboarding and it has a couple of bars next to it.
Within 5 miles you have the stunning Kenfig Hill Nature Reserve and Rest Bay Beach. Another stunning expanse of sand, great for swimming, surfing etc.
Porthcawl town itself is very nice. Plenty of cafes and a Cadwaladers ice cream shop which is always a hit with the kids. Overall, a great seaside town to visit.
So would we go back to this huge park again - most definitely Yes.
We all loved it and the location.
Although we did wonder how it would cope in the summer when it was fully booked - the entertainment venue was big, but not that big. So, if you do go, get there early!

Caerfai Bay Caravan And Tent Park - Full Tour And Honest Review
I discovered your chanel just yesterday with this particular video.... I loved it enough to subscribe lol. I look forward to viewing your videos many more times yet :) cheers from sometimes sunny New Zealand.
Hi and thank you so much for your comment. We have camping trips planned for new year, so more reviews, fun packed family times and grumpy Scott to come. And hopefully you get more luck with the weather there than we do here..saying that, it is often lovely..just happens to be when we go camping that it isn't...
A worth giving to my ex gf as a birthday surprise gift lol
Lol, do not think she would approve..
Ive not been to devon cliffs for over 10 years and i can't believe how different everything looks especially the arcade!! All the floor used to be a dark arcade carpet but it would look super dirty and sticky from kids dropping drinks all ofer it so im glad they got rid of it. The extra activities at the park were always rather pricey so it doesnt surprise me thats still the case. Fortunately there is so much you can do and if youve got kids they will have tons of fun. Im really glad that devon cliffs still holds up today and i do consider it to be the best haven park in the uk . Its a lovely spot for a quick getaway as well even if some of the caravans are very basic. Most of the time thats fine as its only really a place to sleep for the night
Hi and thanks for the comment. Yes it is a huge park, almost on par with Trecco Bay which we recently visited. Can be as expensive or as cheap as you want it to be, just cover the kids eyes and ears when you walk through the arcade🫣
The dad is a bully 😮
He is not. He is lovely. he made me laugh all the time
2024 es el unico metodo que me funciono para cargar este objeto del diablo jajaja
I really enjoyed this vlog and it did not rain, please do more
Hi, thank you for comment and glad you enjoyed it..it was great to see sun, but we are not being lulled into a false sense of security..as soon as the tent comes out, I bet the rain will follow🙄
Good Review Guy's👍👍👍
Thanks! 👍
Replay lang ako
That was Newton Beach not Ogmore by sea. Another beautiful beach. Newton beach is dog friendly all year round for future reference. Rest bay near porthcawl is popular for surfers and its a lovely walk along the coast line from porthcawl.
Also, if it's rain you want to avoid then don't come during the summer. It rains all summer long in Wales.
Hi, lol, yes we had that experience in North Wales. We did love the location though. Certainly gives Cornwall a run for its money when it comes to nice beaches..We will definitely be returning...just not in Summer😄
What no rain Look like you had fun. Fab beaches! Great vid. 😊
Hi, yes we couldn't believe it..the weather was on our side..a first👍
So it did not rain then GLOBE VALE HOLIDAY PARK 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 Scott bloody hell
Lol, yes, even Scott couldn't moan during this weekend.. Pretty sure the UK weather will pay us back on our next trip though...🙄
@@TheHadwinsTV we have a caravan stored in North Petherton Somerset and had a 9 week tour back in May this year and it rained 27 days so i now just how he feels , hope next year will be better for you all, thanks again for sharing your nice videos. Clive
That was great, we need more Hadwins in our lives. Where was the rain and bad weather? It was all too nice we didn't get my favorite Scott rant. I am glad you all had a good time though, and the dog seemed to love it too. All we need now is more videos. ❤❤❤❤❤
Hi, soon as warm weather comes next year we will be camping again..saying that I am sure it will rain for us..Scott has a habit of booking wet weeks away in the tent..🙄😫
Thanks for sharing ❤
We live near there, should be fun...
Hi, we will probably be moving down near there next year. Lovely party of the country, great beaches and nice people👍
Waiting
Wait ko ani baah
17:21 LOL I can so relate to that Google map pain in Cornwall. She always thinks she's got a great idea for shaving 3 minutes off a journey. 1 mile on a road like that can feel like an eternity. Never drive in Cornwall unless you can reverse a long way.
Hi, yes you are so right. Love the place but the roads are exceptionally unforgiving. When you have to pull over to let a pedestrian pass, you know your in trouble...
Hi Mr Hadwin. Thanks for your Vlog on this site. We live local to this area and we come here every year from the 28th Dec-2nd Jan to see the new year in, such a great vibe and a great News Years Eve party. Highly recommend this site.
Hi, yes lovely site and part of the country. Booked up for next year already..it's becoming a bit of tradition now, will 4th year on the trot for us👍
Great video, one correction... Pictures are 'hung', people are 'hanged'. William Davies was hanged, drawn & quartered
Hi thank you for the comment..grammar error noted👍
great video and assessments in the comments too! I just got a large polycotton tent like yours as with a family of 5, it will be far more practical for reasonably priced holidays around Europe, and (assuming we can still fit things into our car) we might avoid trailers and speed limitations of those just by packing lighter in our roofbox and car. I have looked into trailer tents which look impressive but storage (we live in an apartment) could be a hassle and they are far from cheap - especially if the interior or tent section start to mould. So we will see how the larger tent works without a trailer and thus also without the many pieces of furniture that make the camping experience more pleasurable. I also think that a small caravan will just be hassle to fit our family into on a bad weather day - maybe we can sleep in it, but not much room to swing a cat compared to a large tent. I also looked around for perhaps a storage unit I can rent to assemble the tent in to dry at the end our season... that also is cheaper than hotels, caravans etc... so we will see next year!
Hi, yes camping instead of caravanning is the way we are going, at least for the next year. But as you have pointed out, if you want to have the luxury when camping, carrying it all is a job. We have now bought a small trailer and will still need a roof box ..lol, either that or we get a caravan to take it all in...🙄
we just bought a vango airbeam iv 650xl so was looking at your video and wondering if you could give me details of the kids beds my wife was asking as she really liked the video especially as she is also filipino and we have 2 lovely children darcy who is 3 and noah 6 and would like to get them the same beds....thank you and all the best on your next trip.
Hi, thank you for the comment. We actually have two double Yawn Airbeds at the moment. Both kids share the one, but we are looking at two single ones for the next trip. We love them, have had them for 3 years now with no complaints. Good luck with your airbeam tent, hope you enjoy it as much as we do👍
I have launched my movie, thank you so much for the use of your footage. Film is called... Strong values make strong watercolours.
Great video, good job, thanks for sharing.
Hi, thank you for the comment and glad you found video useful..
Believe me there is nowt wrong with the old sign post mate. As are maps also, they are a fail safe. Forget the electronics and go naked with the originals and teach the kids the same. That will defo keep them occupied and they will sleep better too.
Any real wind and it will blow away like mine did. You it pegged all round the bottom!
hi, i know this is 3 years old but do you know how many poles are there on the top section after the the bend. so from the ground the poles go up then bend over the roof. im trying to figure out the width of the roof and not the full width of the tent itself
Hi, sorry I have asked Scott and neither of us can remember at all. All remember was it seemed like a lot when struggling to put them in. We do have some other videos of us packing away the tent, it may be more visible on that one? Again sorry we can be no more help..
@ no problem at all thanks for replying. I’ve seen a few of your videos so I’ll have another look 👍
I love your videos, you are doing an amazing job. I'm an artist and have painted the Mill at Lower Slaughter. Is it OK if i use 20 seconds of your video to show on my video? I will of course give 'The Hadwins' a shout out! Let me know. Cheers, Frank
Hi Frank, thank you for the comment. Yes you can use our video to help with your project no problem. You will have to send us a picture of the finished product👍
Cute
❤❤❤
Lets face it, to matter where you go , you can't do anything about the weather so please don't blame the country. Blame the forecasters instead. Enjoy it anyway x
Hi, lol, unsure if it is country or forecasters..think it is Scott's luck..he has knack of taking the rain with him, wherever he goes🙄
A brilliant detailed review I agree with what you said about the mash and barrel food isn't that good but we always find south beach has much better for food
Hi and thank you for the comment, we never ate at South Beach, but we will keep it in mind if we return👍
galing ng content mo kabayan
maraming salamat kabayan at lalo na sa pag laan ng oras sa panunuod. isa sa mga pinaka unang video na nagawa ko nung umpisa ng pagvvlog.
Perfect for a couple and the kids.
Hi, yes, we are looking to buy next year. Scott can't wait🙄
You're gonna need a bigger boat
Or a caravan...🤔
Brilliant! Love you people,,,, please go camping every weekend 😂
Lol, Scott would be grey if we did that..
Love watching the Hadwins, I'm 74 and I loved taking my granddaughters camping, but one is now 27 and the other is coming 16,,,and I don't trust myself now,,,, but seeing you guys and the kids waking up in the mornings,,,, camping is just such a great adventure for kids, I wanba do it again
Hi, thank you for the comment and glad you liked the video. Every time we are setting up, Scott says never again, and as soon as we finish, he starts looking to book the next trip..it is a bug and a pastime, that I think we will struggle to ever give up. It may be a case that when kids grow up, we invest in a caravan...?
I love the feeling of happiness from this family and the honest reviews, but I think it's high time Scott put on his chefs apron (from amazon) and set about cooking for Janice and the kids,,,, keep the vids coming
Ha ha, thank you for the comment, but Scott, heat and spatulas in a tent, could be a disaster. It's easier and safer to leave him with the dog walking😆
Welcome to Wales! Next time you book to camp here, try booking one of the 3 days of the year we have sun shine.
Hi, lol, we want to visit again next year..we will see if we can get at least one of those 3 sunny days🤞
@@TheHadwinsTV good luck, and buy a lottery ticket. It gives better odds 😂
Nice family video. Pity about over population and over tourism spoiling things in places. Also, we could do with that climate change they keep boring us with!
Hi, lol, yes Scott has been keeping his fingers crossed for the global warming. Only when we go camping of course🫣🙄
Love you guys, did camping from the early nineties intil we bought a caravan in 2009. Still got a Cabanon Biscaier 500 from 2006. Full Tencate breathable canvas, very heavy but very stable. Stood many gales in Cornwall. Love it.
Hi, we are looking at a caravan in the future. Scott loves the idea of one. We are moving house soon and a drive big enough to store a caravan on is on his must haves...
Ahhh, the thick end of £70k for a van with a tent on the roof. No thanks. Try climbing down from the 'pop top', slipping on the drivers seat and mangling your manhood on the steering wheel in the middle of the night to have a wee in the facilities. That's before you trample all over the kids and dog to open the door out into the rain. And the 'pop top' has all the acoustic blocking of cling film.😢
Hi, yes we were unaware of exactly how expensive they were, so this was an eye opening trip. For us though, having two kids at ages were they bicker quite a bit, is one reason why it is not suitable for us. The tent we have now allows us to keep them separated.. a camper van would not...
Glad you only had a little rain, not like the cornish rain!!😊
Hi, Scott is a bit of a rain magnet, do we always get some, no matter where we go🙄
Unfortunately I was in there 1month very beautiful place but i didnot enjoy, Bcause that time i was sick and hardly depressed 😭😭
Hi it is a beautiful place, hope you are feeling better now.
Great watch, such a beautiful family and Dad’s hilarious 🤣
Hi thank you so much for the comment. Glad you enjoyed it, but I will not tell Scott you enjoyed his moaning...he would never stop🙄😆
Kuyawa
We had the same weather , but we had a couple of days where the 🌞 made an appearance . We stayed in Parbola Park Cornwall - site was brilliant - excellent facilities. Great jumping off point to many places , we took so much stuff . I had no clue the amount you take, to make it a comfy experience . But overall our first camping trip was great , apart from the weather.
Hi, glad you enjoyed your first camping trip. Cornwall in the sun is fun, Cornwall in the rain, not so much. But we will still be going back next year.Scott loves it really🤔😄
Great fun for the kids & the big ones!😁
Can the bed be used without electricity and how did both the bed and sofa perform? And are any of the seems giving way? Thanks
Hi, with the Yawn Airbed you will need electric to inflate, but a powerstation with socket may well do. We have continued to use both beds and sofa for at least another 7-8 camping trips with no problems. Just remember never to fully inflate and leave some room for expansion if weather is warm..
id cry at the thought of packing up all that stuff when its time to go home 😅😅 its camping you only need about 7 items 😅😅
Hi, lol, that is what Scott says often. He likes the comforts when there up, but packing, pitching and putting away are not his favourite jobs..
Ang ganda naman Dyan madam.
