Sept 2024 consolidation the binders #NZ #lowincome #soloparent
As I close off Quarter 3 of 2024 I'm taking stock of my sinking funds and debt, partly to move some money to the bank to earn interest and for safe keeping, but also because this is the first step in setting new goals for the last quarter of the year. This process of discovery is the same no matter where you are in your budgeting journey - you need to know where you start from before you decide where you can get to. Hope you enjoy, a planning and reset video is coming in a day or two
Your support matters - I hope you'll stick around and subscribe, like, make a comment; or share with others. It really helps to get this kaupapa out there on the 'tube (and it's totally free!).

WHAT IS CASH STUFFING ANYWAY?
In a nutshell #cashstuffing is a form of #budgeting where you pay for everything in cash - no swiping, no consumer debt. It's a flexible system - you decide which parts of your budget you want to use cash.
I still pay my fixed expenses on automatic payment, it's cheaper and easier for me. I do take out and use cash each week for everything else. This has allowed me to challenge myself to have money left over at the end of every week that I can put towards saving. I have a small set of goals I'm working toward, that will give me a sense of peace and abundance. It's not easy on a low income, but it is so worth it!
I am not a professional registered to give financial advice - this is just a real and raw look at how I budget my money, I'm sharing it because talking about money, especially when you don't have a lot can be whakamā (embarrassing) even in families. Please seek your own advice to fit your situation.

Woo-hoo that's awesome! I love condensing videos! So great to see how much you have managed to save and now get back into the bank for that interest :)
Nice job on your savings! 🎉😊
Thanks hun!
Definitely worth it! Good work Nin ❤

Hi, if your daughter gave the book back - why do you need to pay for it? Is it not the school's fault for losing the book?
The public library have charged us for a replacement copy - because it went back to the school library and disappeared from there. Hope that makes sense?
Oh! I just did a budget revision video. I would be curious to know your process!😊
👌🏾
Thanks lovely!
Absolutely keen for the planning process ❤
Good to know! But it will be the video after the next one (condensing) which I recorded today :)
Hello Nin!! Watching and supporting! 😊🎉🫶🏼
Hey lovely, thank you so much
👌🏾
Great cash stuffing 😊❤
Thank you 😁
Enjoyed seeing the extra moneys go in Nin ❤
Thanks B - I think of you when I do my budget - hope things are going well for you.
Hey Nin, I’ve got some cash stuffing supplies I’m no longer using. I’ve got three beautiful folders in as-new condition and a bunch of the ziplock envelopes, some with labels. I don’t need it anymore as the way I manage my finances has changed, but I don’t want to throw them out. I know we live in the same city, and I was thinking would you want them? Even to pass on as a giveaway or to someone who could really benefit from the system 😊. Just feels too good to go to waste!
Ah true? I'm sure I can find a use for them - could you drop me a line to notchka@gmail and I'll work out a meet up or something with you
👌🏾
Thanks lovely x
Awesome that you’ve got those skills to make your own clothes, I wish I could use a sewing machine properly.❤
Its just practise really, my biggest tip would be get some second hand curtains or sheets from the op shop to test out patterns, there are loads of YT channels with sewing tips.
How exciting! What great achievement.
Thanks - it feels good to not be dreading how to pay for Christmas fr
🎉 three challenges going towards your goals 😊❤
Yaaaay congratulations! What a great save! And then you’ll have a fully funded Christmas, that’s amazing! Great work 🥰🥰
Thanks so much!!
Wow thats so cool you were able to finish those challenges, Ive decided not to do any small challenges Im just going to focus on doing the 100 envelope challenge. I get paid once a fortnight and Im going to put $20 in each envelope 😀 so far Ive got 10 envelopes done only 90 more to go lol
That's a really worth cause, I've had to hit pause on my 100 envelope challenge but I think this is great. It will feel to amazing to unstuff all those envelopes at the end!
Yay SO cool to see all those completed!!! Can't say I'm a cricket fan but hope its loads of fun for Squirrel!
That's all good, I'll be the proud Mama doing her workout, bringing the Fanta and the snacks and chilling with my crafts on the sideline :)
Woo-hoo! It's so exciting to see you finish off a few of your challenges. Even more so, if Christmas will be fully funded.
Yusss - must say it will be a relief to get that done for sure.
Haven't watched the video yet but the "Slightly Chaotic" has me excited! Chaos makes it more fun and real ❤️
Just mostly me kicking the freakin tablet stand. Must get better at that!
👌🏾
First time viewer, thoroughly enjoyed this and subscribed - recommended by Bayley Made It
Oh hey - thanks for subscribing. Bayley's awesome eh :)

Hi Nin, Feel free to ignore this question if you weren't wanting to answer, but I just wanted to ask you how your Masters were going? Hope everything is going okay for you and your family ❤
The draft has been submitted but I'vbe be having some health problems over the last 6 months, so I haven't got it finalised just yet :/
@@TheJoyNinjaNZ thanks for sharing that, it's been at the back of my mind in anticipation of celebrating you (not to mention the taco challenge lol) You are an incredible woman doing incredible things, I am always in awe of your resilience, strength, and compassion ❤️ you've got this 😊
Love seeing your worthy envelope getting some love! And hurray for reaching your Education goal! Christmas is weighing heavily on my mind as my mother and I just did our basic budget and its over $1k 😳That's mainly because we have multiple birthdays at the end of Dec with one being a 21st. We are trying to simplify it down as much as possible but its so hard now that our money just doesn't stretch like it used to. I am looking at following your lead and starting a channel because I think I will need that accountability in the near future. Thank you for being an inspiration and helping me get to the best financial situation I've ever been in ❤
It's not easy, when traditions are involved, and you only get those big birthdays once, I feel for you. Please let me know if you do start a channel, I'm sure many of us would like to support another Kiwi cash stuffer.
Great work Nin, I think our Christmas will also be a bit pared back this year ❤
Kia ora Nin, I appreciate that you use Te Reo Māori in your videos and on your fully funded slips. It's great to see!
I love Te Reo - wish I could do a class to improve my korero, but they are hard to find
Thanks for mentioning ❤🌹
You are so welcome
Yay you finished Ninja Squirrel!!! I can't wait to see where it gets stuffed ❤️ The music was fun but it does become hard to hear you at some points. I'm having to be more planned with my Savings Challenges for Sept & Oct so its lots of fun watching your randomizer 😀
Oh that's good to know about the randomiser - I'm kind of missing my set challenges in my blue binder - thinking I might switch things up in a little while
Morning!! Great job saving!!!
So satisfying for you to have completed two challenges and almost a third one. 💵
Eeek - good to be able to stuff a bit tomorrow, can't wait!
Like the video. It was really hard to hear you over the music.
My bad! I usually turn it down a lot, it will be fixed for next time.
👌🏾
It might be a nice hobby but having the money set aside for bills and things makes total sense, weather it’s cash envelopes or lots of different bank accounts for things couldn’t be better esp on a low income with no real disposable income,
I think if the materials help to keep you on track, motivated and saving then it’s all worth it. That’s what it does for me and if you come to enjoy it I guess it is a hobby. 😊
Great point!
85$ for events… thats envelopes is nice and closed
I cut the tip of my finger off in 2016 and it still tingles when I touch it 😂😂
I guess this is my life now 😆 ah well, it could have be worst!
Love ya work Nin 😉 ❤
👌🏾
I totally get it too. I love nice things so having pretty envelopes and binders etc make cash stuffing more fun and exciting
Nice to see a video from you. Thanks
Goodmorning :) new subbie!
Hey Krystal, you're so welcome here.
I'm getting cracker days up here too. Had to have my fan going today 😅 Awesome start to the $300 challenge! That's gonna be so great for knocking down your debt ❤️ So exciting seeing Ninja Squirrel and the Autumn Challenge almost complete. Can't wait to see them stuffed into your sinking funds.
Yes we’ve had a couple of beautiful days, hubby even had the windows all open while I was out. I need to redo my budget for next month .
@@madamkiwi1094 Spring is definitely in the air! Best wishes on your budget reset
Great cash stuffing video, ohh that $300 challenge is scary as heck but your future self is going to be so happy 😊 xx
@@wegotthisforyou glad I’m not the only one 🫣
I find this incredibly complex, and materials heavy. More like a hobby than a budgeting system?
Out of curiosity, what system do you use? This is a lifestyle for me, I'm trying to create a sense of safety and abundance for myself by having enough money to live a dignified life. It is extremely helpful to my nervous system to have certainty around my budget. I do understand your point of view regarding 'materials heavy'. There are those that have more 'bells and whistles' than I, and those that have far less. I have added to and taken from 'my system' to suit my circumstances. For me, working with physical cash rather than just a spreadsheet and bank account balances has lead to a healthier relationship with money. I acknowledge this won't be the case for everyone and that's fine.
I enjoy your videos and also budget using cash, just a mini accordion file and a basic spreadsheet. I don't have any experience with savings challenges that involve scratchies etc. I have been trying to figure out how you do things, I am hesitant to spend money on binders etc, there seems to be a lot more work and "stuff" in this method.
I don't cash stuff with money, everything is kept in the bank so everything I use are placeholders. It is a lot of paper to work with and I have had to make more as my bank accounts grow, but having something to physically hold has been such an important part to managing my finances. Awesome seeing the debt go down! Its a long road but you are doing an amazing job and it such a cool way to handle an emergency expense. Thank you for sharing your journey with us ❤
That's really interesting to me, I wonder if it feels the same as cash? I'm wondering about using a hybrid system next year maybe
@@TheJoyNinjaNZ Its def different because I don't deal with change and I am able to decide what denominations I have (I made my own $1). Its also a lot of prep work making the prop bills but I can't handle getting money out regularly and taking money back to the bank. I also have my accounts set up to match. For example I have my main account where my pay goes in, I have my eftpos account which is my "purse" and the only account that has a card attached. Then I have a Sinking Funds account, and a Savings Challenges account (both are savings accounts), and then I have my emergency savings with another bank entirely so I am less tempted to pull from it. Hope all that makes sense 😀
Another good video,
I appreciate that, thank you
