I've been waiting for this one!! Going into it I was firmly in Team Green's corner tbh. There is just something about Rhaenyra's infidelities that I found off putting. Plus Aemond is too bad ass not to side with. As this episode went along though, I realized I don't care who wins, I just want to see who wins! P.S. I have read PART of the book. "Cheese and Blood" are the only part I remember wel...

This is THE BEST Godzilla movie I've ever seen! Honestly I can't believe how invested I became in the story. What a way to end a series!!! I LOVED this movie! Seeing President Coin's plot finally being revealed was so satisfying, as was Presidents Snow meeting his end at the hands of the people he suppressed for so many years. And Peeta!! I did NOT think he would survive let alone make a strong recovery. And seeing him and Katniss finally together and raising a family was just too heartwarming. I wish...

You should watch Ponyo (Or Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea). It has similiar vibes to My Neighbor Totoro being a feel good-movie, though it have more of story to it. It is heavy inspired by The Little Mermaid (both the Disney animated movie and the Hans Christian Andersen tale) and is about a goldfish girl named Ponyo who meets and falls in love with the five-year old Sosuke and in order to become human, she uses her dad's potions but she inadvertily causes to throw nature out of balance so she and Sosuke have to prove their love for each other in order to set things right and to make Ponyo to stay human forever. Other Ghibli pictures I recommend are Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Whisper of the Heart, Howl's Moving Castle and especially Spirited Away, which won an Academy Award for Best Foreing Film, which brought attention to anime around the world (including my home country Sweden where up until that point anime was most known for Sailor Moon and Pokémon with Dragon Ball being released as a Manga).

This movie is based on director Hayao Miyazaki's childhood when he and his brother moved to the countryside to be near the hospital where his mom was, as she had spinal tuberculosis. While it's not stated in the movie it is presumed that Mrs. Kusakabe has spinal tuberculosis as well. Most of the expericences that he and his younger brother had during at that time was inspired into Satsuki and Mei's experiences. He have stated that if the main characters were boys it'd been too much for him. Kanta is based heavily on Miyazaki himself including his love for comics and model airplanes. Originally there was just going to be one girl (as seen in the poster where she is posed at the bus stop with Totoro) but when it came to the third act, it was hard to come up anything dramatic so she was split into Satsuki and Mei, hence why Satsuki have a boy's haircut and Mei have pigtails, as the prototype Satsuki had pigtails on the poster (probably the reason Satsuki carries Mei behind her in that scene is to "match" with the poster, though the pigtails doesn't stick out to complete the illusion ).

You really should read the books, they're amazing, some of my favorites. The films are pretty faithful as adaptations go, but the books provide more backstory and history of Panem, and go way deeper into the politics which is one of my favorite things about the series. The films do a decent job consolidating the ideas in the books, but but the books have so much more depth and detail that the films don't, as you'd expect. Theyre easy reads too, only like 300-400 pages tops. But the most memorable aspect of the books to me is that my entire time reading them was accompanied by an uneasy feeling that the world this story takes place in is not at all unlike our own, and our future could be similar. Not exactly the same obviously, some of the ideas are embellished or hyperbolic for the entertainment factor, but the overall theme of an oppressive tyrannical government and obscene classism is, as you alluded, already something that people in our world live through. So it's equally fascinating and disconcerting how grounded in reality they are.

Actually, from what I've read, the people of Japan didn't take long after the war to realize kamikaze attacks 'were just a waste of pilots and aircraft. The damage they inflicted was minuscule compared to the forces being sent against them. The only ships they managed to sink were Escort Carriers and smaller ships.' Even the Sumiko (the neighbor) no longer judged Shikishimo. *Japan's J7W1 Shinden was the only World War II aircraft of canard configuration that any combatant ordered into production.* So, yes, it's real. They were saluting Big G as a worthy opponent. Oh, and I'm giving a shout out to Doc's hair. Just thought I'd mention that. *Excellent reaction! Thanks!* *Just subbed*

For decompression: Have you ever had a new bottle of soda and noticed that there are no bubbles in it? But as soon as you open it (relieving pressure) bubbles immediately appear. Decompression can do that to us too, except the bubbles appear in our blood. This can cause all kinds of damage to internal organs.

If you are interested in more Studio Ghibli works, also check out “The Castle of Cagliostro”, it’s not strictly a Ghibli film but it was directed and screen played by Hayao Miyazaki, the guy who directs most of the Ghlbli films.

In a minor defense of Cato (and the other careers): They have been raised from birth to one day volunteer and win for their district. They have had fighting and media training, and know how to play the crowds/sponsors. It is theorized that the reason the careers laugh about killing people and are so vocal about killing is because they know the camera are rolling and sponsors are watching. A rich person may be more inclined to sponsor a tribute that looks like a cold-blooded killer. But we see during Cato's final moments that he is also just a kid, and he's realized he's failed to do the one thing he has always been expected to do. I feel some sympathy for him, just as I feel sympathy for all the kids in the arena. They are all just a product of a tyrannical government.

Another comment on "Godzilla Minus One Reaction". What I found after several viewings, ignoring the subtitles, lol, nah. Opening scene has the venerable Japanese Zero Fighter landing on the fictional Odo Island. Home of the fictional monster "Gojira". The end of WWII was September 1945. "A new Yankee weapon?" as the mechanics all look to the sky. The premise of the movie is the survivors of the Tokyo Fire Bombing of March 10th 1945. Mankind's worst that had more casualties than and lost in history to the Hiroshima or Nagasaki Bomb. Nearly 300 newly developed long range B29 Bomber's and newly developed Incendiary bombs: Napalm. All developed and designed to rain fire on the civilians of Tokyo in March of 1945. The "Black Market" scene with it's vendors, hustlers and prostitutes to introduce Noriko & Akiko to Koichi is brilliant. The "Ameyoko" is fact. Noriko scores a turnip and shows a hungry Akiko. One date March 1946, the one (1) year anniversary of the Tokyo Fire Bombing it's raining heavily. Ironically Koichi is soaked in rain water and not fire. "Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho so, off to work I go". At work, (Bashful) Koichi meets (Doc), (Grumpy) Captain & (Happy) the Kid. Somewhere The Brothers Grimm & Walt Disney are smiling. Takashi Yamazaki, takes from great story tellers from around the world and becomes one himself. Koichi has a nightmare of fire outside, as people crying out "fire, fire" then there's Godzilla. Another date March 1947, it's the two (2) year anniversary of the Tokyo Fire Bombing. It's sunny. An Erie scene of Noriko's shadow through the window as she looks into the mirror and the shadow appears across her face. A ghostly premonition. On March 10th 2024, the 79th anniversary of the Tokyo Fire Bombing", Takashi Yamazaki & crew was awarded the Oscar in Hollywood California. Takashi Yamazaki tells a great Japanese post WWII story using the great Japanese fictional monster "Gojira" that people wouldn't be interested in anyway. The sudden bombardment of Godzilla by the "Takao" is ironic as the "Takao" was offshore supporting the surprise attack of Pearl Harbor. (Elder family members would share stories of that time being from Hawai'i). Harley Davidson, Koichi's Black Market motorcycle, and the Japanese Imperial Navy was a surprise discovery. The last line, Noriko looks to the side of the camera and says, "Is your war.....now, finally over? Translated differently on my DVD than in the theaters. Read that in Japan, after the movie, in theaters people applauded.

If you really think this film is good, I urge you to watch it again with the original Japanese audio (English subtitles). 33:16 ★The dialogue here is not in the original and was added in the American version. When I first saw the English dubbed version, I felt sad and angry. In the original version, it delicately conveys how a 12-year-old girl tries her best to take care of her younger sister as a mother figure, but her feelings are torn apart. Yet, in the English dub, she is represented as a mean older sister who just scolds her younger sister. I was really sad because I like Satsuki

The thing is even the career tributes are victims. They have been raised to believe in the whole process and train to become winners. Cato's realisation at the end is heartbreaking. He's still a kid and has been lied to by all the adults he trusted and he was raised to be slaughtered. The author wanted to make parallels between war and the entertainment industry. We cheer when the careers are killed, but we forget they are still children.
