what you do for winter ? do you think a wrapping over the mesh is enough it would let the sun enter and block the wind?

awesome job 👍 being from eastern Canada we get wind and creatures so was great to see the tire setup to counter the weight of a study coop , and let the crap fall lol no cleaning out the coup just move lol love it thanks again for the ideas Jamin

I'm not sure this will help. Even if you leave the space for the air flow ... you will get the condensation anyway. And if you plan on "drying" it with the inside air (like forcing air with a fan) ... you will loose the inside heat. I see the video is 3 years old now - have you had a chance to look behind the walls again, to check the condition?

It's perfect! I was wondering though what climate you live in. We live in area where winters can get down below zero. How wind proof would this be in that situation? We could modify your design of course but prefer to keep it close to yours as possible. Thank you for sharing 💚

Looks like you have had it running for over a year now. Any changes you would make in hindsight?
I think I'd cover the whole thing and have more roosts instead of a wired run as we have been using a electric poultry fence and the hens have had access to the outside 24 7 .. that way I could keep a larger flock in it. We had 22 hens in it, it could early house 30 the way it is now but we want to get a bigger flock so maybe around 60 birds. That's just the case for me though . Other than that I think maybe a larger diameter wire mesh on the floor of the roost as some poop did not fall through and needed to be cleaned every now and again. All in all its been a great mobile coop. We also have a large static coop with some cool features now with 30 hens ill make a video soon for that too. 👍

ummm i See a Ladder Rack descender hahah.it's good but i prefer using Petzl ID or Petzl Stop,i know ID wears out fast but if u take care of it properly it will last very long.. BTW great job dude enjoy..

what about winter?
its fine for winter here , it doesnt get below 0 much here but even if it does the chickens are perfect in this. the ventilation underneath prevents moisture buid up inside the coop, its moisture that will kill a chicken not the cold. some breeds do fine up to -20celcius . hope this is helpful

@@litahsr.8226 Chickens lay according to hours of daylight, not temperature. Some folks put artificial lights in coops to force them to lay all winter. Personally, I think that is not a healthy or humane approach: it isnt natural and chickens need a break; like women, chickens are born with a set number of eggs, and laying every day is equivalent to getting a period every day (egg drops, is fertilized or not). All that said, it's April here in VT, the chickens have been laying for a few weeks, and we got 5 inches of snow today... eggs freeze. It can effect the texture if the are left out to freeze solid, but otherwise freezing doesn't matter.

I like your design. It is very sound. Curious if you added any handles in front to improve moving or if you have made any modifications with use? I am making a Texas version with 13" run flat wheels and half the tin on the front door side to allow for more ventilation. Reducing the nest boxes to 2. You have inspired me. Thank you very much!
I haven't added handles yet . I don't think I will either. The door is a good height for me to squat under and walk it around. It moves easy on the big wheels
Can a 300 pound man even do this job?
Yes most decenders are rated for 200kg. Other devices would have to be added if you were to rescue someone or vise versa as two people would be on one set of ropes 👌
