Canvas Tarp Camping with a Cowboy Bedroll in the Woods
มุมมอง 4704 หลายเดือนก่อน
I am out in the woods for a bit of Canvas Tarp Camping. Sleep system will be a bit basic as brought my Cowboy Bedroll along but forgot a blanket! Fire is going to be critical. A good pile of firewood. Some good tucker to keep me warm through the night. Will have to set up a tarp configuration that circulates the heat well, as although it is summer it still gets a bit chilly during the night. Ti...

Ain't that the truth my friend do you still get your coffees per month subscription I do miss those and the way they dress up the words 😂✌️
Yes still enjoying my posh coffee, descriptions are as flowery as ever. 😄
Your presentation was easy to follow
Great, was hoping a few people would try it.
Excellent job Mark
Thankyou. It opens up lots of possibilities. knowing you can knock up a frame saw quickly and easily.
I will give this a go, cheers bud 👍✌️
You will use it all the time once you try it.
That stove is insane, looks so cute too. Great video and keep them coming.
It is about time to get it out again. Thanks for taking a look.
I've used mine in a Plow Point configuration for a few years now. it works fantastic and I've never had an issue with this tarp. I feel it's well worth the money!!
Most people seem to be happy with them, I got sent a reject, the workmanship on it is rubbish. Yes I did complain, but nothing happened.
Hello my friend, you have here again a fantastic wood craft video for the fully relaxed enjoyment on Monday! Have a nice time~
You are a verry nagging Character and great at nitpicking!
lovely place,,
Thanks
Bet that was a bugger to make, good job sir 👍
Cutting with the grain was challenging, as the grain went all over the place, especially around the knots. Next spoon will be easy peasy. 😄
@mark.a.cornish ever used horn beam? there is a knot reliable every inch or so was thinking it could make and interesting spoon if shaped right.
@@badgerandthewoodsman No, will try if I ever come across a felled or fallen piece, it has just not crossed my path yet. Imagine it would be fairly hard. Surprised it would have so many knots. .
How do you like this after owning it for a while? Think it's worth the current £300 price tag?
Still love it , it is really light and would say it is worth it. You can not wind up a titanium stove to cherry red though, things will warp so not as much heat as steel stoves.
@@mark.a.cornish Have you tried it with oaks, and hornbeams and birches? Hold up okay on those woods? so far?
@@mark.a.cornish I can't imagine it getting too hot even with very hot woods because of the size, especially if you add a pipe dampener and close it down to go through the night.
@@8thsinner Yes fine on a variety of woods but do not expect an all night burn, about an hour is the most I can get.
@@mark.a.cornish Well i've been looking at this one for a while, since before this video I think. But I intend to add a baffle, turn the top around and a pipe dampener. And i've heard it should be possible to get a couple of hours out of it like. Guess time will tell though. I'll let you know.
Which hook knife is that? Good video thanks
Its a compound curve from wood tools in the UK. Bought the blade and made my own handle, but they also sell them ready yo use.
@@mark.a.cornish nice!!! Been considering buying the same one to upgrade from the Mora 164
@@mark.a.cornish can you do some more carving videos please? Just subscribed and watched your log processing video where you created billets and blanks, found it really good…!!
@@anonymous4201 Thanks, am working on a carving video at the moment so good timing.
Inter dimensional panthers!
Of course filming but just as you have a coffee break and put the camera down… da dada da daaah… a panther!!! I believe you, really I do
Literally the next video is you having a fire in a forest
I do not leave fire circles though, no one would know I have been there
A couple of movement triggered cameras would add veracity to your tale.
Am sure it would, but not really interested, just sharing my experiences while out in the countryside.
Feral domestic cats can be quite large… but there are no wild “big cats” in the uk. For anyone that thinks there is, well I don’t think you realise just how densely populated the uk is - dog walkers etc everywhere. Also there would be scat (cat turd stinks) & carcasses etc etc. sorry to ruin everyone’s fun.
See deer carcasdes quite often, sometimes not much damage to them other than the ribcage sheared out and missing organs, but have never seen any scat, not that I have gone looking for it. Did see something weird on one walk, it was quite a large cat but very scrawny, very small head and long legs, thought it was some sort of lynx but maybe a feral domestic cat. Very different to some of the others I have seen.
Why not? Who would have ever believed we have Pythons, Anacondas, Nile Crocs, monkeys and who knows what else here in Florida? International trade is so EXCITING
Had not thought about what could be happening in other countries, but you are right, interesting times.
So you were filming but didn’t film it… I love the idea of big cats in the uk… o want to believe it’s real but you were filming so why didn’t you film it!!!???
They are fast animals. Also they seem to respond to eye contact, being very happy to watch until you notice them. You are right, had my vid camera in my hands, but was so amazed never thought of using it until after it had gone. Not worried about it as have no interest in trying to convince anyone. Think you have to have the experience of seeing one before believing they are about. Makes camping out in the woods interesting now though.
Just watched this again is it OK to copy this design? 👍✌️
Sure go for it. Hope it gets more interest for you than I did. Strong reluctance to take it down as it works so well, but very low views whenever I feature it in a video.
If anyone else told me this I wouldn't believe them, but I trust your keen eye and wizdom. That's crazy best distance to see one I guess 👍👍
Have had a couple of much closer encounters , will go back to the spots and make some video soon. Have been seeing them for years. First time was in sisters garden maybe 20 years ago, having a BBQ and a panther walked along the bottom of the garden very casually. 12-14 of us all saw it and discussed it as it strolled by.
Defo mate big cats all over exmoor Dartmoor Bodmin .
I figure that if I am seeing them locally, they must be fairly widespread all over the UK
Thanks for sharing. That would be incredible to see
It is great to see them from a distance, have had a couple of close encounters which I did not enjoy so much though!
Nice ✌️
Thanks.
Nice sound of the fire.
Thanks. Can`t beat that noise.
Works really well ,hope you’re keeping good mate👍
Yes thanks. Getting back into the groove with a few shorts.
No harm in a fire if it is done sensibly. That one was nicely placed. It is a lovely thing to do. With pubs charging £10 for a pint, why wouldn't you freelance a nice place to sit?
What’s the issue!? I thought we’d been using fire 🔥 for a few thousand years!? English 🏴 people need to start being English again-and STOP bitching about insignificant things!
Oh no a fire, unbelievable 😂😂😂 I blame the bloke that discovered it, all those years ago.
Such a shame that its so difficult to sit arround the fire with your friends in england.
Looking good my friend 👍
Thanks. Playing around with the shorts and my old footage. Getting the thumbnail I want is a nightmare, hate using mobile phones.
This pisses me off too. Each time i pass by a nice place on a trail, some morons have made a fire there and left a scar.
I like fires, but find a quiet spot out of the way, and no one would know I have been there once I leave. Big fan of twig stoves for that reason.
If only the grass gre back
@@billyboing215 if you make a camp fire, it will take 10-15 years for the grass to go back. The heat burns all the organic matter necessary for plants to get re-established.
@petemainacc no absolutely not, I have a bonfire in my back garden most years and it's grown back by spring
@petemainacc u do know farmers some times burn their fields after harvest. They don't then wait 15 years to re plant
Probably just some teens messing about in the middle of nowhere.. obviously cleaned up after themselves so what's wrong with a fire and laugh with mates.
About 30 years ago, i learned something about myself.... I hate people. But i agree with the other comment above, If the authorities dont give people places to do things the right way, then they will do things wrong.
Guess I am in a minority then , but fire rings and left over half burnt lumps of wood don`t do it for me at picturesque sites. Could have been worse I guess and they burnt the bench down as well. Cleared it up as best I could .
@@mark.a.cornish No your not. I dont like to see any traces left by people. I do like a little camp fire at home in my own garden in a spot i have for doing it. I was just noteing that IF authorities provided places for Barbies then people might not have them all over the place. Cans, bottles, wrappers, fires .... Culprits should be made to clear them up with their teeth.
When ppl not given a place for these things to do .they do it on places like that . Now at least good fertile soil for new growth
Take your point, but it is just a bench in a clearing miles from anywhere, not a designated picnic site or anything.
Hi mark hope you’re ok bud 👍
Yes thanks. Lots of distractions but will be back to filming soon no doubt. 👍
Courner
😂 the bee cgheckig , great , lets someone ealse test 16:56 it out , thanks😅
Not sure what you are saying. At 17 stone+ think it got a good test and have used this set up several times now, works great when you can not find those perfectly spaced trees without widow makers hanging over you.
The best options on hanging a hammock on a cliff face/rocks I have ever seen, will be using down our wonderful GOWER Peninsular Beaches 🏴
A climber in my local bushcraft group suggested carrying a few different sized nuts with the threads filed out for these situations but as I proved, a wedge shaped rock can also work. Glad you enjoyed this, was my most memorable camp ever and baffled as to why it has so little views TBH. 👍
Great work bud 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for taking a look 👍
Nice review! Thanks! I won’t buy one! 👍👍😁🇺🇸

On the 2nd defusion do you add more sugar if adding extra fruit?
Yes, all the original sugar will be in the liquid so it is like starting again. Just like the first batch though, do not overdo the sugar as you can add more to taste at any time. 😄
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks ❤❤
As usual you make something in 30 mins that takes me 3 days lol I tryed similar to yours for my first one but my notches let me down, I bow down to your woodworking skills 👍
I have been a Carpenter for 45 years, sorry if I make it look easy sometimes. 😄
Handmade product dont have straight stitches 😂😂 really surprising
Buying from metric country.. (Any other than USA, Cambodia..and that one country in Africa... 😂 😂) Trusting metric numbers.. Just common sense
Very nice work Mark, I like making spoons. I started in 2021 for the most part. 😊 Thanks and take care 😊
It`s a very mindful experience, the time really flies by. Particularly enjoy swinging an axe though, learnt back when it was part of a carpenters kit. 😄
