      I'm not the exact fluid amount. Every 03 I work on is slightly different. Different radiators, hose configurations, different expansion tanks etc. so they're not all exactly the same as people have changed up these cars so much over the years. I just have a little extra in my bucket and then save what I don't use for later.

    Most likely a Dana 30 front axle with that Dana 35 rear. Definitely need a regear, I'm running 4.88s with 37s in my Dana 44s plenty of pep, but top end suffers quite a bit (that doesn’t really matter much on the trails though). Also running a light weight low center of gravity YJ build with a 4 banger. Would hate to drive it on road, but with 5.29 gears and a 4.3 :1 transfercase, she's still a beast on the trails. Welcome to your new addiction 😂

    There is a clip available for the dome light switch to keep them off. If you put in a V8 you will want to do a WJ brake swap as well. since with 33" your brakes are gonna suck. Dana 30 is the front diff. I have a 2004 TJ and am swapping to a XJ high pinion Dana 30 in front and a Explorer 8.8 in the back both with 4.10's along with the WJ brake mod with JKS steering linkage using WJ tie rod ends. Take your beastie to an oil spray undercoating place and have them spray the inside of the frame. You will be glad you did.

    Great video and info. I am seriously considering this for my Megasquirt set up. How do you "gracefully “ shut down the pi.

    • @MalcolmV8
      @MalcolmV8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need a power supply board that works like a UPS. It's wired directly to battery power and also to the ignition switch. When you key off it just pulls a pin low on the Pi letting it know you have the ignition switch off. At that point it turns the screen off and an internal counter starts. After X period of time it realizes you're done driving and gone and the Pi begins to gracefully shutdown. Once it's down there's a pin on the Pi that now goes low letting the UPS / power supply board know you've powered off and it turns itself off.

    Likely the speedo is about 10% off too with the 33” tires (ie, reading too slow… unless they swapped the speedo gear to a 26 spline)… making it seems to have slower acceleration (via the speedo) than it really does. That said, the 3spd auto is not ideal in the TJ. Much more fun to drive with a 5psd manual. With proper gearing, the 4.0L can be a blast… very torquey and fun. And durable/reliable as any engine ever made! Jeeps are not about speed and HP (despite the new Rubi 392s… which, I wouldn’t want to drive a TJ with that had that kind of power😮… they aren’t designed for that (and the trouble that kind of high HP can get you into, ie, it’s not a forgiving sports car that can let you do something stupid and still recover from). They are made for off-roading, crawling, etc. That’s their Philosophy of Use. Not saying you can’t put a powerful V8 in one (you can, I have a buddy with a YJ and a hot 350 Chevy in it)… but you definitely need to be careful and not drive it stupid. Again, it’s not a sports car. On the trail you want something that can lug at low RPM and generate good torque down low… a high-winding small-block V8 would not be ideal for doing what the TJ’s POU indicates. That said, not everybody goes wheeling in them… and that’s the beauty of the Jeep. Do what you want with it… just be careful when you’re using it outside its POU parameters. ;)

      @@dvinpeace the stock ECU cannot provide the PWM signal required to drive the Fusion controller. You need to add your own PWM signal generator. For those that tinker in electronics the choice is the Arduino. For those that don't I've heard people buy cheap little PWM generators off Amazon and wire them up to drive the Fusion controller to get the soft start.

    Great to know about the bracket vs cutting and welding the parking brake adjuster.

    So I did this minus the radiator/water pump change out. I think I overfilled the res, forgot about that tip from one of your videos to shut it down early. So I ran it, it was spilling out the res cap like a dribble. Think because the overfill. Drained some out of the res. But went for a drive this morning, and looks like a had a minor spurge(?) because I had some coolant out around the res. And the level dropped down to a couple inches above the hose at the bottom. Drove back home 10 mins. Coolant didn’t move from that spot. Never overheated. Possible I have, or had, air in system? Can I just top it off in the res? Or check out the crossover? I’m not sure why it spilled out enough like that. First time doing this on the car. Followed your video to a T really.

      If you overfilled it then when the car got hot it had no where for the coolant to expand and it would have pushed it past the cap and made a mess. Hopefully now with the correct fluid level in your expansion tank you'll be OK. If you continue to experience issues you can drain all the coolant and start over. Don't forget to leave space in the expansion tank :)

      @@MalcolmV8I didn’t have a huge mess, for as far as I can see. Like no spray on the underside of hood/windshield. But leakage for sure. I ended up opening the crossover. Couldn’t visibly see coolant. Did burping/refilling the old fashioned way through the crossover. Not sure how there could’ve been that much coolant loss that I couldn’t see any up top. Maybe an air pocket? But everything seems to be getting better. Thanks for reply.

      @@Gunfur something else to keep in mind when you initially pull a vacuum the system must be empty. I normally pull the lower radiator hose off and let all the fluid drain. Otherwise air pockets can get trapped behind coolant when you pull a vacuum. So never pull a vacuum on a partially filled car as it may or may not work depending if there's air trapped behind some coolant or not.

      @@MalcolmV8 I followed your video with draining from lower. Then took a blower and blew out from the upper hose and pipe to the crossover. But maybe everything wasn’t truly out.

    All right so trying to understand the limitations of tuning or adjusting the original program in these first gen OBD2 I have a 1995 Mercury Cougar with the 4.6 non pi as of now what are my options to make adjustments in the program for the car not looking to radically change the tune just make some what I might call Corrections would a later year ECU say a 1999 or 2002 4.6 passenger car ECU for example a Crown Victoria be substituted in

      If you have ODB2 on your 95 you can possibly tune it through the ODB2 port although I thought most Fords started that in 96. You can shop popular tuners like SCT, HPT, Binary Editor etc. and see if any of them supports your ECU via ODB2. If you plan to swap out the ECU from a newer year Ford you'll have to find the wiring diagrams of your car and the donor car and look for the minor differences in the ECU pinouts and then re-wire your harness accordingly. At that point I'd probably just look at replacing the factory ECU with a stand alone unless there's something specific you need from the factory ECU.

      @MalcolmV8 yes ford did tbirds cougar and Lincoln mk-viii with the new 4.6 motors starting in 95. Everything else got it in 96 I need to look into binary editor. I heard of it mentioned but didn't know it was an actual company? Or the brand name of the product? Thanks dv

      @@MalcolmV8 okay well last update I have been in contact most of the afternoon today with the gentleman from core tuning net and he looked up his records and the computer files and such and verified yes a 95 Cougar with the 4.6 is supported by their program . I was a ked what the codes on the sticker are. The strat codes. But it appears they have the tech to talk to my PCM!
