Daily Driven Boost Build - Part 2 - Clearance for intercooler pipes
Good evening Malcom, I know it has been quite some time since you posted this, but it is the only helpful video I have found. I have two ZT-3’s and wired it very similar to yours. - Using pins K/I for the CAN L/H. - Using pin V for HCO2 out for the relay ground. I have the two ZT-3 CAN L Y’d together and CAN H Y’d together about 6” from the module running to the MS3. The problem is in the documentation it says I need a 120Ohm resistor to terminate both ends, what did you do for the ZT-3 end? Do I run the resistor just after the Y or do I need to make the CAN loop more like a T? Where the 120Ohm is at the top left and terminating there, the MS3 at the top right, and the two ZT-3’s running into them? Thanks! 8:33
Thanks for all that data. Made my decision easier.
Glad you liked it.
Lucky you didn't experience the death wable with those bushes gone!!! 😮😮
Since the video I have a couple times and it's frightening as heck the first time it ever happened. Still not fun but aware of it now.
sound like you need to have a wheel alignment my has 6 gears, 2005 and Jeeps are not for speed also if it is a four cylinders, you need a 6.
It's the 4 liter inline 6. The reason it's so slow is because someone put big wheels and tires on it but never changed the gear ratios in the differentials. So it's like you're driving in 5th gear all the time trying to pull off etc.
Dont really recommend lowering the windshield though.
Why is that?
Электровентилятор был создан чтоб охлаждать) Почему у вас не сработало, непонятно.
I have an 02, wear your seatbelt always, it’s very easy to get thrown out
For sure, that would not be fun.
My dragy is completely dead. Can’t connect it to my phone and if I try to charge the dragy I don’t even get this red blinking light. It just does nothing. Any idea?
Assuming it's not broken it sounds like your battery is completely dead and needs to be replaced. Although the lack of charging light is concerning.
I'm glad I bought a quarterhorse but I kick myself for not buying ten of them! Tweecer is way overpriced. Thoughts on pimpx?
They are certainly useful and I always had two quarterhorses on hand when tuning. The Pimpx is a replacement ECU (megasquirt based) and not a tuning tool for the stock ECU.
When you hook up the power for the wide bands what power source did you go with
They should get a very clean power source so using a relay they get power directly from the battery.
Is there a link to the recall bracket?
It's an OEM Ford part. Part # 1R3Z-2A753-BA. You can search around online and find one.
Are you able to tune ms3 on cobra , looking for tuner
Great video. Question - couldn't you use a 94-98 emergency brake handle?
It's been so long since I did this I'd have to go back and compare them again. I forget the reasons I chose not to go that route.
How much distilled water did you use to flush it out?
We keep large batches for all the cars so I don't have an exact count but probably around 15 gallons with all the flushes.
Hey there, regarding the Stewart water pump, are we good installing it and keeping the coolant cross over tube? You had mentioned it blew off the hose. If we run that, would it do the same?
If you have an otherwise stock cooling system you'll be just fine. I had deleted the bypass hose that runs from the coolant cross over down to the thermostat housing. I deleted all that actually and relocated the thermostat into the upper radiator hose. I had not built a bypass back into my new setup yet which is why it was blowing that upper radiator hose off. Once I added a new bypass that's clean and out of sight it's working great again.
Thanks for your videos and various forum post . I used your arduino can sketch to link a tc4plus egt amplifier over can to my ms3mini pro. I’m working through getting the tsdash working reliably .
I’m having some sort of communication issues because the laptop keeps dropping offline and doing so corrupts the tune. I’ve turned can off to see if that’s the issue and it still happens . I had the same problem as you not auto detecting due to a different ip set and port.
Glad to hear that the video and info was useful and something you could use.
@@GreatLakes_MetalDetecting try asking on the msextra forums in the tunerstudio sub forum. The TS Dash is pretty cool but does seem to be buggy from time to time. Make sure you're on the latest update and see if anyone else has had the same issue that can maybe help you past it.
@@MalcolmV8connection dropping was two issues first the second usb wifi I added was bad it was dropping the connection and second I had to open up the firewall on my laptop . Now to get all this back in the car and take it out and do some data logging
Do you what lines on the odometer means after installing ms3
All dashes on the factory gauge cluster means it's not receiving information or communicating with the ECU. So it's not getting communication with your ECU. Either your ECU is not correctly powered up or it's not wired correctly or possibly a faulty ECU. For some reason it's not communicating with your gauge cluster.
I had a bunch of work done to the car recently 2.3 whipple, ms3pro, clutch and fuel system. The issues I'm having now is the tach, speedo, odometer aren't reading also the reverse lockout isn't allowing me to go in reverse, could these all be related to the ecu?
@@artelias1434 yes those are all ECU functions. It would be wiring or the ECU. How old is your ECU? The first batches of MS3Pro ECUs didn't have the internal hardware to activate the reverse lockout solenoid. A slight oversight. You have to contact DIYAutotune and ship the ECU back and they will fix it.
Ecu is new, I put stock ecu back in and gauges all work
@@artelias1434 I'd contact diyautotune and see if they have any additional info on the ECU or if they require you to send it back fo repair.
Man its like you really enjoy the torture, love the positivity and attitude you bring to these videos not to mention how informative they have been to the Cobra community. Ive been loosing my mind just figuring out a belt alignment after replacing my crank pulley. Great video and great sense of humor you got.
Glad you've enjoyed the videos and I appreciate the feedback and kind words :)
Bought a TJ about a month ago from a good friend of mine that is geared with 35" tire, lif, winch etc... after me putting about $800 in new front end parts that were worn. And now it drives and rides about 10% better...😂 But it does put a smile on my face every time I drive it! I don't understand it either... It's a fun vehicle!
Can you explain how you added the 2nd wifi?
GREAT WORK BUDDY !
Thanks, glad you liked it.
Could you provide the wiring designations for the fusion pump? I am in the process of installing and the ford connector is not marked for power, ground, trigger,,, etc… would be most appreciated!!
Anyone???
My wife and I have a 2004 with 94,000 miles on it. Great vehicle. Holds its value. And easy to work on.
That looks like absolute fun zooming around in this thing!
Love that solid y2k design of the TJ! That beefy looking grille is such a beauty to look at. Absolute stunning. That dashboard also gives me hard nostalgia vibes. And I never even drove one back then or ever. Saving for a LJ in Light Khaki Metallic or Patriot Blue Pearl.
should have Dana 30 & 35 not 40.
Or U hate or u Love the car.. but is the best car ever made all time... for fun the TJ
I'm going to add more to this now that I have a lot more experience with my car. I currently use the car for drag and drive type events. Cruising or driving 30-60 miles, then 3 back to back passes. Everytime a pass is made with the blower spinning 24-25k rpm going down the strip, yes the heat exchanger is going to cool some, but it cant keep up maintaining the temp on a return road or back in the staging lanes. Large fans on a poorly shrouded heat exchanger, that that is inadequately sized for larger hp builds, will have minimal dwell time(the time the water passes by the fans) to cool giving minimal gains. The larger the heat exchanger, the better it will work. Likewise, the larger the offset when adding fans. When, a viewer looks at this, they have to consider how hard they push their combination. A few stops and back to 45 mph for 1/2 a mile to another stop is not the same as some city driving or drag strip racing that can thoroughly raise the water temps throughout the whole system very quickly and take forever to cool back down. I'm personally planning a 6" wide heat exchanger with fans and an adequate shroud on a pwm controller. As this video shows, fans arent really needed after so much mph. When judging how much of a cooling system you need for the blower, it really needs to be based off of power/blower rpm, and how it will be driven. With wide open roads with minimal stops, you can get by with a lot less of a system.
do you have any clues for TS Dash not booting, I get the slash screen and nothing for 10 minutes plus, have forced VGA mode tried two pi's and 2 sd cards cheers Brett
Not sure but it sounds like an OS issue.
Wow, excellent job with all the testing. It had to be a lot of work. I'm viewing this much after you tested this, so your efforts are appreciated!
Glad you liked it. We have more testing and work done and will post additional videos on it when I get some time.
For that dome light, just pull fuse #4
Someone found a toggle switch that plugs into the fuse spot so you can easily turn it off. Pretty cool.
When u used vacuum to fill did it pull in 4 gallons or did u have to top off?
I'm not the exact fluid amount. Every 03 I work on is slightly different. Different radiators, hose configurations, different expansion tanks etc. so they're not all exactly the same as people have changed up these cars so much over the years. I just have a little extra in my bucket and then save what I don't use for later.
This review is awesome and tells the truth! I have a '97 with 2.5L on 31" and standard gear ratio - I call it "thirsty sloth", guess why... - But I still love this vehicle, dreaming of a 4.0L or even a Rubicon though ;-)
haha thirsty sloth. They are slow and clunky but super fun in their own way. I still enjoy tinkering with it.
nice shifting
Great video ! I have a modified Z06 in garage yet this is the toy of choice ! Love my TJ !
what pwm controller did you use?
Ford Fusion. FUSION 07-10 Cooling Fan; (ID 6E53-8C609-AA)
Is that a Saffa accent I hear?
What could I sell a quarter horse for now? I bought a Holley stand alone and don’t need it anymore.
Good question, probably whatever someone is willing to pay as I don't see new ones available anymore.
Can you install some sort of fan control with a Direct wire for us just turn on guys
I'm sure you could do old school relay and switch or something if you were wanting too.
No don't fall in to the duck crap these people are not Jeep people stop it.
I got my 99 TJ a couple years ago. Most fun I’ve had in a vehicle. The 4.0 strait 6 such an awesome engine.
That's great, you don't find it underpowered?
I have a 2001 Cherokee. 31' tires, 3' lift, 4.0L i6 engine. Mine defiantly gets up faster than that, I also have the 4-speed auto. Love your wrangler, and great video!

Welcome to Jeep world.
Very well done.
Looks just like my yellow 2004. Have had it for 10 years. Old jeeps with no monthly payment are the BEST Jeeps!
The 4.0 with a six speed manual and low 4.11 gearing is much more fun to drive. Still slow compared to most cars, but super fun!
I wish this was a manual but the intent was for my wife to drive it too and she can only drive automatics. However she got her own Jeep now so I may switch things around on this one.
I want a terminator so bad
Most likely a Dana 30 front axle with that Dana 35 rear. Definitely need a regear, I'm running 4.88s with 37s in my Dana 44s plenty of pep, but top end suffers quite a bit (that doesn’t really matter much on the trails though). Also running a light weight low center of gravity YJ build with a 4 banger. Would hate to drive it on road, but with 5.29 gears and a 4.3 :1 transfercase, she's still a beast on the trails. Welcome to your new addiction 😂
Block test for combustion gases. Based on what you are showing, you are pretty much guaranteed a positive result.
Yeah the coolant tests are great and work really well.
