Possibly the onions are just a fully developed version of a Pikmin my theory is that the Pikmin when they grow old they become rounder lose their eyes and other defining features like nose ears or mouth then grow legs and the type of Pikmin equals the kind of onion it is supported by all the onions having a flower what's the most mature version of a Pikmin we ever see a flowered Pikmin this would make sense as it would make a full life cycle for the Pikmin and you may be wondering why aren't there just onions everywhere well very few Pikmin probably make it to this stage I feel like this would be pretty cool as Pikmin instead of becoming too old to be useful they become onions candy pop buds though they're most likely just some kind of parasitic plant

What if the stone creature and the pikmin have a symbiotic relationship where it turns the Pikmin to planted flowers and then, if given enough time to grow, the planted pikmin flowers turn into the flowers that can turn pikmin into different colors using their own energy, which is why these flowers die if used a lot, and if those flowers are left to grow they eventually develop into onions? I also thought ab the possibility that the onions turn into the stone creatures but the egg/smoky progg kinda throw a rench into that theory. Given the marking though I don’t think it’s impossible

I have to say that I think it’s humorous that there were a ton of people that wanted hey pikmin to not be canon but there’s stuff hey pikmin did that pikmin 4 brought back (like white and purple pikmin having onions and sparklium) and that now if any game feels like there’s so much a ton weird shit going and nothing makes any sense and it should be non canon it’s mainline pikmin 4. I just find that very funny

Nice video bro The only reason why I don't believe it is because of the way Olimar talks about the Pikmin in the intro cutscene like if he just met them for the first time, aswell as the addition of the dog (Moss screwed up the possibility of that cutscene being just Pikmin 1), he even describe why he named them 'Pikmin'. There's also the Shipwreck Tale, basically a retelling of Pikmin 1 (but with the dog as a plus) until Olimar crashes and is turned into a leafling (which them proceed for the rest of the story in Pikmin 4). And that's why your theory doesn't work for me, if Pikmin 4 is the first time Olimar crashed (given his reaction), and he couldn't return to Hocotate, this means Pikmin 2 didn't happened yet, because Olimar never discovered about the treasures in PNF-404 in Pikmin 1 and never warned the president about it. Like, in Pikmin 2 the rest of Hocatate discover PNF-404 because of the treasures Olimar bring back, while in Pikmin 4 they only know about it because Olimar is lost. My only theory for why this happens is just... Nintendo being Nintendo and forgetting continuity, really disappointing, honestly. I think originally Pikmin 4 was going to be a straight up sequel from where Pikmin 3 left off, this would explain why some details points to it, but the project sitted for so long they just decided to reintroduce the series to new players and reboot it as a new universe (probably the same thing that happened twice with the Star Fox franchise, unfortunately). The only thing I hope is that Nintendo finally gives continuity in this new setting, it would be a great chance to remake Pikmin 2 and 3 with an even greater plot than they had originally (I think this can happen given the references made in 4 to 3 and 2). GOOD LORD NINTENDO if you're so concerned about newcomers just have your games have story recaps, throw in a free manga explaining past events, or have the past games be fully playable in a game's extras menu (game probably could sold even more if it was four games for the price of one anyway). my theory is that pikmin are actually seeds. A pikmin planted long enough will eventually turn into a candypop bud, and then finally an onion, hence why the mamuta are considered the lords of pikmin, because they allow uprooted pikmin to travel and then be replanted elsewhere, for example the red onion is found in the only place a mamuta can spawn in pikmin 1
