      We still need to do Washington and Alaska both of which we’ll get to by May of this year. Hawaii we visited this fall so once we hit Alaska we’ll both have spent at least 1 night in all 50 states. So glad you enjoyed the video! Modifying things is great. Engineers/manufacturers can only do so much so it’s great that there’s a community of people out there modifying their campers to maximize the rig for their use.

    • @thecumminscamper
      @thecumminscamper วันที่ผ่านมา

      They sure do! Seems is mostly an issue in cold climates but can happen to anyone when/if the grid heater relay sticks and stays on melting the nut enough to where it falls into the engine. I can stand the idea of a faulty designed nut taking out a whole engine 😂

  • @largemarge1603
    @largemarge1603 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    23:50 2024, after almost two decades full-time live-aboard, we finally retired our ancient AGM bank. . We took our specifications to MAC'S BATTERIES AND SOLAR in Eugene Oregon. In three days, they built our new 24v LiFePo4 bank and installed it in a custom cabinet. . For about us$2600, we have the equivalent of sixteen (16) 100ah BattleBorn. . For photovoltaics, MAC'S carries several hundred panels of all sizes and configuration. . We feed our bank from six 305-Watt panels, a total of 1,830-Watts. I fabricated a toy-hauler on a similar commercial chassis, and we just might add an additional six panels on its roof, bringing us to an excessively obsessive amount of catching free fuel falling from the sky.

    • @thecumminscamper
      @thecumminscamper วันที่ผ่านมา

      1830 watts is a ton! I’d love to get close to that. My challenge for solar panels is if i go with larger panels on my roof rack I’m completely negating my ability to walk on my roof. I’d have to walk over the panels to get to the cab over. I’m still trying to decide what the right move is

    Great video and thanks for posting it! In regards the vinyl wrap, did you take a picture of what you wanted and it was blown up from there? As well, did you have the hot water tank changed to one that is electric and gas? My 04 Lance 1161 only has a gas hot water heater.

    • @thecumminscamper
      @thecumminscamper 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching! So the hot water heater electric element will fit your 04 Lance hot water heater also. It adds the electric element to our existing LP hot water heaters. Pretty easy to install. Plugs right into a 120v outlet and has a toggle switch for when you want to use it. Search Camco Hot Water Hybrid Heat on Amazon. For the wrap, the company doing the work provided us a website where we could choose from over 1,000,000 options. We searched Lake, Trees, Mountains and then filtered down the results to fall in love with this picture

      That’s awesome that you’ve experienced Baja for so many years! I’m sure it looks nothing like it used to back in the day. Thanks for sharing your story of your many years of truck camper ownership. It’s inspiring and reassures us we can keep doing this for many more years.

    We saw your truck in Todos Santos around New Years. We found a couple of free boondocking spots near Cerritos. Watching the whales jump, watching the surfers and the sunsets were our favorites. Enjoy!

    I do not have a fancy level system in my Class C 😂 it would interfere with my ground clearance. Helmet, tank top and shorts 😣 Bruh 😎 😂 should have kept that helmet 🪖 on for that slide out hit 😢 I see it’s a 10 month old video ✌🏼

    • @thecumminscamper
      @thecumminscamper 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Those leveling systems do really limit the ground clearance. Just enjoy the swaying nature of the camper going back and forth as you walk but sometimes those winds get crazy. I wish I had the helmet on for my head smack! I can still feel it 10 months later.

    You guys! this is so funny- we are the truck camper at the very opposite end of the beach from yous at los cocos! Your rig definitely caught our eye as we drove out! We almost went riding with Marcelo too but decided to head south more.

      Hahaha that’s super funny! I know exactly where y’all were at. I eyed up the sweet toolbox set up on the tundra and admired the build quite a bit. The small world of Baja!

    what size flatbed do you have 9ft? i have been contemplating what size bed to go with between 8 to 10ft my concern is the longer beds would move the weight to far back on the truck but it sure would be nice to have some more room to store gear up front on the bed

    • @thecumminscamper
      @thecumminscamper 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So our bed size is 9’6” but because this truck is a cab and chassis vs a pickup body like a 2500/3500, the factory builds the truck with a longer frame and the wheel base is longer. For that reason my truck camper sits over my axle correctly and in the same way as it would on a pickup truck with an 8 foot bed if that makes sense. You’re absolutely correct that if you put a 10 foot flatbed on your truck you’ll change the weight ratio dramatically and your truck will likely drive like crap. I have seen people put their whole camper, overhang included on top of the flatbed. It yields some extra space but not enough to warrant the effort.

      Oh man that’s a tough one! The food, the cost of living, the beaches, the people, the weather and the fact that so many more places are accepting of RVers than in America. You’re unlikely to get “the knock” down here

    • @Gidyupcowboy
      @Gidyupcowboy 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @thecumminscamper well that is a convincing statement. Is it just too hot to stay year round? And do you feel pretty safe?

    • @thecumminscamper
      @thecumminscamper 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s definitely not a place I’d want to live in the summer in my RV. Too hot and humid. Think Florida type weather in the summer. Could/would I live hear year round if I had a house with AC? Yes. Many Canadian/American travelers will house sit here in the summer. Get free accommodations so that the home owners don’t have to worry about property theft. Do I feel safe: absolutely. Safer here than in the USA for sure. I also play by the unwritten rules down here. Don’t drive at night, don’t go off the beaten path, don’t get involved in the underground businesses here and if an area is a “no no” for sleeping or parking, just don’t stay there. It’s the easiest and safest place for nomads that I’ve found yet. Thankfully people are too intimidated to come down here in masses but slowly Americans and Canadians are discovering this place as the next California for development

    My bucket list. I’m 65yrs young 😏 Just wondering, are there senior RVers?

    • @thecumminscamper
      @thecumminscamper 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks so much for watching. You can absolutely do Baja at the young age of 65. There are lots of RVers down here that are retired and exploring Baja. Many of the seniors only go as far as the Bay of Conception and then stay there all winter. It’s interesting though, most seniors that are down here are from British Columbia. People seem to travel due south vs south East or south west. Not many older folks from the east coast of the USA down here.

    • @thecumminscamper
      @thecumminscamper 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The free place definitely had more character and an attachment to the local community. The RV park was fancy and geared towards people with tons of money but I’m very glad we were able to experience both.
