Honestly, don't pay for for something like this, save your money. Just use TH-cam. There are thousands of videos showing you how to play your favourite songs, how to finger chord shapes, learning scales e.t.c. e.t.c. Yousician is a bit gimmicky.

Though not listed here, avoid guitarzoom. I’m not pointing at Steve Stine but rather his customer support. I tried a $5 trial last year, I cancelled shortly after but, was billed $299 2 days ago…they are refusing to refund my money. They used my checking account info to fraudulently remove my money. Steve seems to be a good guy but, his company needs a bit of attention.

You forgot TH-cam! easy on the pocketbook and avoiding Truefire's download problems, stalling forever on a stellar internet connection, that sucks down large video games at high speed.

Paid for a week for one on one and got shorted, cause the guy took off for vacation. no refund, no extension. Downloads are hideously slow and they stall! No auto-resume either! Constantly stalls and when it downloads its slow You can spend all night to downloading some courses, while I can download the latest Ubisoft game in an hour without ever stalling.

I played guitar for about 15 years before I took a 10 year hiatus (I was in a career that required a soft touch, and calluses would not have been a good thing). When that went bust during Covid, I decided to get back to playing, and I chose Guitar Tricks. I've been taking their lessons for about 6 months now, and my playing is at least as good again as I was after 15 years of no lessons. Definitely worth it.

Great review!! I bought lessons a la carte. Beginner guitar just to see if I liked it and I do. I have about five different videos from beginner guitar to beginner rock to beginner blues guitar. They also have guitar lessons from professional musicians with decades of experience!!!!!!

Good review. I’m surprised that you didn’t review Guitar Mastery I’m using that now and it’s pretty awesome. I have used Fender Play and PlayGuitar (Part of Play Piano), they are OK but move too slow for intermediate to advance players. Good for beginners. I also joined Ulitimate Guitar Tab which has the sheet music for thousands of songs.

If I purchase a one year limited access online guitar course from whoever, can I legally video record those online lessons for my personal reference for when I no longer have access?

I've been using the premium membership (guitar) for a few weeks and am impressed at the progress I have been making already. Without the app i think I'd be struggling with TH-cam videos and would probably have given up by now. But you do have to practice just about every day to get your money's worth.

How much you get paid to pitch this?

Mark Zabel is a nice guy to learn from, cool lessons and very human also, absolutely worth the fee! He's has a lot of free tutorials online that are very worthwhile, just google.

The problem with this type of website is that they do not have automatic subtitles, personally I prefer to pay a creator on PATREON or TH-cam.

As a total newbie one good part about Yousician is it has you hitting the "right notes" within seconds even if it's just plucking an open string. Felt good to do something right though 😂

Do you have top picks for violin lessons

Was using the free version (10 minutes a day) till I felt "ready" to move on to longer and more frequent uke workouts daily. As it happened I got a sub offer around the holidays last year for a $99 annual sub for all instruments offered and voice with the option for 4 email'd accounts to sub/sub, which some family members are taking advantage of. Beyond Yousician, like you, leaves for me self taught and that's not bad really. Yousician adds a fun game level to your learning process.

One issue with Truefire is that great players aren't necessarily great teachers. Just watch the Pat Martino lessons. They are pretty much impenetrable.
